Parliament Gardens reviews
25Smallish park located on the edge of the Melbourne CBD with wide grassy areas, flower gardens and a fountain that sadly wasn’t working when I visited one winter afternoon. Maybe save a trip here for the warmer months to see it in all its splendour. Close to other large parks such as Fitzroy Gardens if you’re in the mood for a walk.
I was impressed by the cleanliness and well-maintained facilities at this park. It's clear that the staff takes pride in keeping it in top shape.
Beautiful garden. I love the fountain there. It's right beside the Parliament so take the free tour inside when you get there
A charming places for mobility limited walking like me. How fantastic of the Summer Jacaranda blooming seasonal. Just relaxing with friends and enjoy photography with laughter and joy. Thanks for a peace, refreshing environment for visitors!
Yet another one of Melbourne's beautiful gardens and like a number of these, being right on the edge of the city and hence within walking distance of the CBD, it's the perfect place for city workers to get away from their desks, have lunch, go for a stroll and stretch their legs, or just relax in a beautiful garden sanctuary setting during their breaks.
It small but has good seating and grassed areas and a feature walk in fountain. It's also well maintained and just the perfect place to chillax. Well done Melbourne! With o many gardens like this, it really is no wonder that it's so often rated as the most livable city in the world.
Another feature of the Parliament Gardens is the Memorial to Pastor Sir Douglas and Lady Gladys Nicholls.
Good place to walk around, take a seat for lunch. Always see people laying on the grass.
Nice fountain in the middle of the park.
Sometimes undesirable like people gather but appear harmless.
DELIGHTFUL PUBLIC GARDENS ON EDGE OF CITY CENTRE
Parliament Gardens is just off the Hoddle Grid near Parliament House.
It's large and has beautiful open spaces and huge trees with plenty of space for ball games (volleyball is popular here), walking, reading a book on one of the many seats or sitting by the water fountain.
It's not fenced off so you can enter at any time.
Nice garden just off parliment for a small stroll through or around the fountain or to kick back and spend some time outside. While the grass it nice to sit or lay on it could do with a few more benches around the perimiter and bins. There should be a bin at both entrances to allow people to dispose of their own rubbish. Enough trees that there would always be shade to shelter under from the sun.
One of the beautiful garden in CBD. The decoration and flowers are amazing there. I took so many photos and the fountain is worth watching.
Such a beautiful place to just sit and enjoy the sun and beautiful flowers. Really feels very peaceful here, and a great place to have a picnic or read a book.
You know when the city nurtures its people.
Beautiful and very natural environment in the gardens.
You’ll love spending your evening and weekends ofcourse.
A great spot for planning picnic with your family.
A little corner of peaceful and beautiful garden right in the CBD for a short break from your busy life.
If you want some time out to have lunch or relax or read a book this is a serene place to come. The constant background noise of the water showers is also relaxing. You can hear the background hum of the traffic passing by. There are plenty of park benches on which to sit. Bring a rug to sit on or sit on the lush green grass on a dry warm to hot day under the shade of a tree also. It would be a great way to spend a lunch hour.
Amazing view and very nice garden! The video I attach shows the golden sunset coloring the fountain!
Melbourne is known for its parks and gardens and the Parliament Gardens are although small, no less beautiful. The location is right next to Parliament House but also opposite the Princess Theatre and Parliament Railway Station with of course trams running out the front. It's on the corner so triangular in shape but big bang on a place to lie on the lovely green grass, listen to the sound of the fountain and soak up Melbourne.
Withinthe park is a memorial for two of the most prominent indigenous leaders of Australia; Pastor Sir Douglas and Lady Gladys. Plus there is also included with the memorial an artwork by Ngarra Murray.
The Coles Fountain which was built in 1981 attracts many people during the warmer months with its cascading curtain of water. I find the sound very tranquil and inviting, especially when the ducks come to visit and bring their ducklings. There are park benches, water fountain and plenty of bins.
Notes: Wheelchair accessible. Kid friendly. No bikes to be ridden through the park.
A cool park just a just few steps from the cbd, Parliament and the cathedral. Nice place for a break.
This park is so cool. The waterfalls are amazing. Good spot to click pictures and also to take a stroll as well.
This garden is very peaceful and tranquil. It's surrounded by busy streets howeve. The water fountain as well as the sounds of the magpies, ducks and the lorikeets provide a very calming atmosphere. There are lots of place for you to sit down and read a good book as well. It's not a particularly busy garden as well, being rather small and hidden, not many people come here.
Parliament gardens is one heck of a park. Not just a park. A garden.
A garden? Nay! A guardian.
You will not be disappointed
Lovely gardens to wander around. Lots of grass. Nice shady areas. Cool fountain. Great place to relax between the sessions at Princess Theatre across the road.
