Panda MaMa Dumpling (Elsternwick）

Busy resto. Delicious food. Good service.
New review: Visited again June 22nd 2023. The resto looks like it needs some love. We go there because of the great service and food. Best spicy fried rice I've ever had. Not expensive. Two of us, with one Tsintao $35. Excellent.

Ordered on uber eats
The shanghai noodles tasted good but the noodles were over cooked and mushy
Special fried rice only had 2 prawns in the whole container
Vegetarian dumplings and spring rolls were yummy.

Food was just ok and they forgot to give us rice which ruined the meal and also gave us the wrong noodles. Pretty poor.

Food is alright if you're looking for dumplings and you're stuck in elsternwick, service is always slow and any time they give you for your food being ready add on at least 10 minutes, even when they say it'll be ready in 1 minute after already waiting for ages. Every time without fail. Just be honest about wait times.

Consistently high quality food regardless of takeaway or eating in. Quality and range of dishes is superb. Polite, efficient service when eating in as well. Highly recommended.

We live across the road and got takeaway the other night. Despite being super busy the food was incredible. A great local restaurant

Very good dumplings! The service is okay, not the best but you don't care about that once you have experienced the taste of their dumplings. Its a nice cosy place where you can eat by yourself or with family and friends.

Excellent fried rice & dumplings, obvious by the great quality of the food that they are made in-house and are fresh. Very cheap to moderate prices for dishes given large serves too.

We LOVE this place. It’s a small unassuming place at the Nepean Hwy end of glenhuntly road. It’s our go-to for dumplings. The ingredients are always fresh and perfect. The staff not super friendly (prob because they’re so busy), but efficient. Their fried rice is on the of the best around and their wontons are so delicious that we ate them so quickly and forgot to take a photo!
We only deviated from dumplings once (salt and pepper calamari) and didn’t like it, so decided that we’d stick to dumplings when we go here.

A friend & I dined here last night.upon arrival there was a slightly awkward standoffish moment about where we wanted to sit - due to the staff not giving a reason as to why we shouldn't or couldn't dine outside thats where we sat.from that moment on the service was atrocious everything from the drinks and cutlery exchange to food being rudely shoved on the table infront of us and our meals being placed incorrectly and menus being swiped from us before we even finished ordering. Sure the food was delicious and would recommend on that but the customer service needs an overhaul and fast because we nearly got up and left because of it. The 3 stars would've been 5 if the staff were more polite.

So I was a regular customer loved their pork dumplings. But today it was bad.
No taste in the meat not even salt in it
Gonna avoid it now will find some other dumpling place near Elsterwick.

Amazing food and exquisite flavours. Have enjoyed many meals here and continue to be impressed.

For reasonably priced Chinese food with ok quality, this place is good. Vegetables are fresh, dumplings are excellent, free tea.

If you are looking for authentic Asian cuisine taste then this isn’t the place. My friend and I ordered Shanghai beef noodles, Spring rolls and dumpling in hot & sour soup. The beef wasn’t good and the dumplings were average. Since Elsternwick is more of a Caucasian suburb I think it’s reasonable to say that they have made the food more palatable to the people in the suburb. We both liked the Dumpling in Hot and Sour soup.

Great food, worthy of 4 stars.
Service though is a hit or miss depending on the staff. Have had some lovely service from lovely people and other days have had service thats average from staff; trying to memorise long orders and not apologising when wrong food comes out, etc.

So we had the pork fried dumplings? And the vegetarian dumplings. We also had the vegetable bun.

The pork dumplings missed a zing. They were bland and didn’t have a good flavor. They weren’t sumptuous enough to justify this place as a dumpling place.

The vegetarian dumplings were not fried well and the plate had left over oil with the dumplings. It just made for a half fried, yet oily dumpling.

Their chilly oil was decent though.

One of, if not my favourite dumpling place in Melbourne. Their steamed chicken sichaun pepper dumplings are absolutely amazing

Over $50 in dumplings and no soy sauce or any kind of sauce. Very disappointing, especially when we were a big covid 19 customer.

This place has great quality food at very reasonable prices. Staff is very friendly amd helpful. Just wish they had more vegetarian options.
