Oriental Hut

This stall is in a food court outside Box Hill station. I paid $14.80 for a large combo (noodles with 3 selections). I had the tofu, honey chicken, and sweet and sour pork. Overall, the portion is generous, but the food is greasy. The sweet and sour pork is dry, and they use too much flour. The honey chicken is delicious. I think there's MSG in the food. I feel so thirsty afterwards.

Worst food I ever had. Meat was full of fat and all the food was oily. Not having food here ever.

Our go-to every time we drop by Box Hill. Absolutely love their honey chicken, been getting it for years. Also recommend the curry chicken. Service was ok, but can't be mad with these affordable meals

Food good but lady at the counter hates us And all the customers. Not the lady in specs but the older lady in black clothes with fake eyebrows and with mean attitude. No thank you no please is used. Maybe they don’t want customers. No more next time. Leaving after long time.

My usual order is rice with honey chicken (so good here!) and mapo tofu. It’s cheap and has a good portion size that is filling. They have so many options to choose from as well. I recommend this place if you’re after classic-styled Chinese takeout.

It's part of my history and I am sure a part of Box Hill's history too. Been here since before I had kids. The beautiful lady whose usually there actually remembers my teen from when he was little. The food is always delicious and very well priced. Definitely a favourite for getting meals. Congratulations on Oriental Hut being a part of Box Hill Central for so many years.

This service was the worst I’ve ever experienced. The food is so outrageously expensive it should be illegal. Never going here again.

Had the most tastiest Fried Rice, Black Bean beef, Honey Chicken for Brunch. Highly Recommend this Eatery in Box Hill Central Food court.

The food is delicious, extremely big portions (great value!) and cheap pricing. Will 100% visit again. The service was nice, the man was generous and kind to my family:)

First time buying zongzi here cause I live quite far so I thought it’d be nice to bring some home, I asked for read bean filling zongzi, the lady said they have them so I grabbed a few. Later day I went back and bought more of the red bean (the lady claim it was red bean filling). Until I went back home and steamed them realizing some wasn’t even red bean filling I asked for. It was jujube filling that I never asked to buy?

Need to check them more carefully before selling them to customers, cause I feel like I got scammed?

The lady’s attitude wasn’t great either, she seem reluctant to serve us.

Bad. Ordered from here and found it overpriced for the amount of food (compared to other food court Chinese), oily and lacking flavour.

Ordered the salt and pepper chicken, pork knuckle and fried rice.
The chicken was mediocre and needed more flavour.
The pork was overly fatty with tiny amounts of meat maybe the same as 1 piece of chicken.
The fried rice was lackluster with no egg or ham and was certainly not fresh made fried rice.

This might sound cruel but go elsewhere.

It's okay, it is what it is, a food court quality selection which relies more on quantity than quality.

I quite the food here, it’s reasonably hot and fresh, and decent value for money. The not so good aspect is the customer service (and yes I know it’s only a little take away place) : the lady who is usually behind the counter often pounces on you and gives no time to even consider the menu choices. A few times this has made me walk away. I’ve also found her a little abrupt at times.

I was here with my family today, the food is so yummy and tasted which only 11dollars. It just so good. Will return for sure.

In short, not recommended.
Fried rice was not well-cooked, with some hard and uncooked rice.
Vegetables were put too long. They were soft, not fresh and not hot. Should provide fresh and recently cooked food. Suggestion: cook less each time but cook more frequently.
One of the shopkeeper was rude to me when I was taking photos. I took photos to let others know better what to expect in the mall before they come. I don't think it was appropriate for her to be that rude.

Have tried twice, prices are fairly reasonable, but food are very hard to chew. Nice customer service.

Many restaurants have come and go over the past 2 decades but Oriental Hut has always stood strong as a comforting and dependable pillar of Box Hill Central shopping centre. Food court takeaways are usually average at best but there's obviously a reason this little gem has stood the test of time.

Words cannot do justice for the exceptionally friendly service or the delicious food. The food speaks for itself; you can really taste the love and effort put into each and every dish. Highly recommend the chicken curry and honey chicken!

If you’re from Latin America and miss rice, then this is the place. Delicious, very generous portions, and very friendly staff, definitely coming back.
