It seems my new reading glasses make my eyesight worse. It is like they just left the “display” lenses in!

Well, just an update - I took the glasses back today and was told the short-distance part of the script was left off the instructions to the lens maker (or whatever they are called). That’s great considering they were reading glasses! This just caps off the bad experience, which commenced with my eye test appointment being screwed up and having to return another day for that.

So, I will now be without the reading glasses during my holiday. Also, it will be the fourth time I have to return to the store - amazing since all I wanted was the most basic single focal glasses and they couldn’t get that right.

I don’t know what has happened in this store as they seem “all over the place”, when usually they are pretty good.

Much later……. +3 weeks

Here we are, 3 weeks after I returned my glasses after they were provided with lenses with no optical correction (see above). I called over a week ago and was told they were being delivered by DHL that afternoon. My wife visited the store the next day but the glasses were not there and she was told they should arrive in the next few days. That was over a week ago and still no word.

I plan to wait and see just how long OPSM will take to get back to me. I will keep you posted.

Funny how it appears the owner only seems to respond to reviews where they get 4 or 5 stars! Go figure.

Update - now over 6 weeks since I ordered my glasses and STILL no sign of them!

The optometrist Zoe is very professional and thoughtful. The sales staffs were also very good. The only thing I would say is that although there is an extensive range of glasses to choose from it was not very organised. Also, there are many frame samples picked by other purchasers that weren't on display, which means I don't get to see the whole range, so I could miss out on the frames that I would otherwise pick.

Sarah lived up to her reputation from other reviews. Thorough, clear and very professional.

Ive been more and more impressed with OPSM in Hawthorn. Its a huge store with great facilities for eye checks and a generous range of frames and sunnies. Over time, they have helped me with repeat eye checks and good advice. Thumbs up to optometrist Connie.

A Big Thank you to Sarah the optometrist I saw yesterday. Her care and diligence in looking after me was first class. Thanks to her care, I was referred to the eye and ear hospital for a detached retina. Had surgery this morning and recovering well. Sarah went the extra mile to phone me today to check in on how I was going.

Had an eye test here, great experience - staff were efficient, friendly, empathetic and thorough. Harry the optometrist was great, as was the person who did the pre test although I don't recall her name. I was actually surprised by how much the staff seemed to care given I was expecting just a quick in and out standard assessment and I thought they might try to upsell me but I got a genuinely honest assessment. Definitely recommend.

After a recent eye test, I have to say it was an extremely pleasant experience at OPSM Eye Hub in Hawthorn, with whom I've dealt with for about 10 years. The visit was made even more pleasant because the Optometrist, who was not only very nice to deal with, was very experienced and knowledgeable. She provided me with every little detail about my eyes and was very thorough. Well done!
