Oliver's Restaurant reviews
19This location was set for the redefined event through CGM. The experience was amazing, and the hotel is immaculate! Although I didn't get to wine and dine, I'll be back to do so
A very personal dining experience was enjoyed here. We had a great Christmas special 2 course lunch at $52, including 1 x wine. But could not resist the third course desert as well plus coffee.
The entree includes 4 items with my favourite, the squid meal, which is an amazing must have dish.
We chose Baramundy fish for main course, beautifully cooked. I don't like frozen fish and this tastes like fresh caught, not frozen. Yumm.
Desert was a delightful Apple Crumble with ice cream, followed by coffee.
The two course option is good value but adding the optional third course made for a beautiful Christmas break up lunch.
Highly recommended
It's Christmas let your hair down for an intimate experience.
Rotary Christmas Party. 43 members. Food Christmas Turkey and Barramundi.
50/50 service. Good standard and service. We will use this venue again.
Had a great feed. Service was excellent. Very clean. Thanks Linda and Ugo
I highly recommend.
A very pleasant mid week dinner where the staff were eager to ensure an enjoyable experience. The steaks and barramundi were delicious. We were even spoiled with a few added extras. A quiet atmosphere with old world charm.
First time at Oliver's Restaurant. Family gathering & it was just lovely. We all agreed that it was a most pleasurable experience. Food was delicious, service was first class & the venue was just great. Thanks to everyone for looking after us so well.
The service is incredible and all the staff are so generous and kind! Also the food is so fancy and tastes really delicious! 10/10 recommend!
Oliver's is as good as it gets among hotel restaurants. Impeccable service, professional staff, comfortable surrounds, consistently great meals, good value and a Hotel Manager who is always visible and provides high quality customer service experiences. Visited after COVID restriction easing expecting some comprimises on their high standards but they were on point as awlats. Well done!
Lovely food, nice surroundings. Good service. Parking is a little difficult when very busy. We had to park and walk
Lovely restaurant, good entree, and accommodating with changing meals and adjusting orders. Kind staff and amazing service. Would recommend
A wonderful fine dining experience, able to chat in normal tones, very little background noise, excellent menu, service and atmosphere.
Thank you to all the staff at Oliver's for making my 80th birthday celebration very special. A delicious meal, friendly helpful staff and pleasant ambience. All who attended commented on what a lovely lunch it had been. After the lunch we were not rushed to leave the restaurant, like some places.
Nice quiet atmosphere. Could talk without yelling. Good lunch menu which was enjoyable to eat. Great time with top service
Lovely traditional restaurant with comfortable chairs, tables that don't wobble, high quality glassware and proper cloth napkins that the attentive staff lay across your lap when you sit down. The dinner menu isn't extensive, but some items change every day, and everything is properly cooked and presented. The wines I tried were very good, too.
Only two things detract from this dining bliss, one minor, one major:
- bowls are for soup, pasta and dog food, not lamb or fish dishes. Cease this token trendiness and serve them on a plate, as they're supposed to be.
- unfortunately, the "cappuccino" was as last century as the decor. The decor is fine, it suits the period style of the place, but that coffee had no place in 21st century Melbourne.
Dinner for 4 last Sat eve. Drinks at the bar, taken to the table. Advised waitress did not require extra drinks would like to order. Waited a long time for meals to arrive, no entrees just mains? Needed to ask waitress to remove unwanted wine glasses as no room on the table! 2 Chicken Parma with vegies, served in pasta bowls, overcooked chips, over boiled vegies, dried Parma dumped on top with burnt cheese and bacon, could not find any sauce? 3rd Chicken Parma served with extra overcooked chips, side bowl of salad. The 4th meal, Pan seared Chicken breast in pasta bowl, chicken moist but no red wine Jus? Very poor quality meals - will not return.
I recently found this gem while on a business trip to Melbourne. The food was fabulous and the service exemplory over a 4 night stay. The waiting staff were friendly and efficient.
Lovely decor, old world style. Great service and the food was delicious. My duck was excellent as was the dessert. Good wine list, with quite a few by the glass. A real surprise to have such a good restaurant in this area.
Has potential with the wide selection offered in the menu. Service is good. Kitchen capacity seems to be limited as I often had to wait more than half an hour for food. Eye filet steak is always underdone and the pepper sauce for it doesn't have flavour. Very convenient restaurant if you are staying at the hotel.
Went for breakfast. Really disappointing. A 2nd class experience. My pancakes were actually burnt and the rest of the food looked, and was, unappetising. It was cold in the dining room even though there was a gas log fire. The place completely lacks atmosphere. No wonder no one else was there. The web site is way out of date which should have given us a clue as to the care factor.
