Okami Japanese Restaurant reviews
33 Really fresh food, great service (including the robot waiters - fun for the kids to watch).
And the all you can eat options are good value when you consider it includes dessert (drinks are extra). The deep fried taiyaki with ice cream topped off a delicious meal. At $20 for a 7YO and $40 for an adult that’s what you’d easily pay for less food elsewhere and an ice cream afterwards.
The restaurant is quite spacious inside, however the service is poor and the waiters/waitresses need to be more attentive. The sushi platter was not fresh, seaweed tasted very hard and the rice was dry. Furthermore, we ordered hot green tea for 3 people and they only placed 1 tea bag into the tea pot…. Giving the customers 3 tea cups does not equate to equal distribution of tea. Due to there only being one tea bag, it tasted very watered down.
Definitely the worst japanese meal I have ever had. Tempura was like bad fish and chips, soba noodles stodgy and drenched in mayo, sashimi was poorly cut and almost like from a supermarket packet. Quite possibly the worse meal I have ever had.
Food here was amazing, cannot fault a single item ordered. Highly rate the Miso Steak and Chicken Karaage.
Staff were difficult to communicate with, but were very lovely and quickly rectified what we missed.
1st full Japanese meal
Thoroughly enjoyed All You Can Eat.
Lovely flavours, well served, good service. And ambience. No rush.
Watching the Robo machine deliver the meals was a treat for children.
My wife and I went there for our anniversary. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We opted for the buffet rather than the ala carte menu. The food was very tasty and brought to the table soon after we ordered. We met the service robots too who played a little tune as they moved about. What a pleasant experience all round it was.
Williamstown Okami restaurant were prompt and able to accomodate a last minute booking. Customer service was excellent and staff were very efficient and understanding. Food was seasoned perfectly. The best Okami restaurant I’ve been to so far.
Can only book at 5.30pm or 7.45pm. Which is crazy is because most people want to eat around 6-7pm. Staff are very rude. No customer service. The food was fantastic but won’t go again because I don’t want to eat at 8pm at night.
We were the first customers to arrive and they placed us on the table near the toilets, waitress then pulled the longest face when we requested to change. For a start, hire better hospitality trained staff who can speak proper English so they can communicate with customers?
Food is below average, actually worst out of the other Okami outlets we have been to. I won’t bother with this outlet again, and there is much better local food around Williamstown who are more deserving of our support.
Excellent food! And service staff very helpful. Prices very competitive and huge variety to choose from. Restrooms very clean. Definitely I'll back with my family.
This is by far the freshest Japanese cuisine out of 4 Okami restaurants we’ve tried in Melbourne. The sushi & sashimi platter is fresh, and tasty with a generous portion.
The staff are very friendly and professional, and they have the robot that delivers food to tables because the restaurant is so long and it actually gets food out to customers very quickly.
The mushroom salad and sea wood salad are absolutely delicious and freshest that Ove tasted in the whole of Melbourne.
The restaurant location is also 5 star because it’s in the middle of busy Williamstown cafe and restaurant scene. The city views are spectacular and you can take the kids for a pleasant walk through the park and down the pier after dinner. This place is one of my family faves.
The price is excellent value for money. All you can eat fresh Japanese with a diverse selection of hot and cold food platters. You will love it as well.
Great service, plenty of good quality food, definitely going back. Would be great for larger groups. Only minor concern was the floor seemed a bit greasy underfoot. Could have been my new runners though.
Firstly, rate 5 stars for the service. I have been twice and the tall lady staff with the glasses served us with her professional knowledge. She was so patience to explain all about the menu, the food portions and quickly to ask us for ordering more food when we finished our first order. She cleaned up all the empty plates when we finished so careful. I was so happy with her service.
Secondly, me and my family were not happy with the sushi. We had the table for 5 people and we ordered 3 different kinds of the platters, there were sushi and sashimi, sushi rolls platters and sushi nigiri platters but we had to wait 25 mins for one sushi sashimi platter came and we asked other staff for 3 times to get it. The sushi was really awful. The rolls were not equal, we had 8 rolls in the platter but there are too many size, 4 rolls were too big, 2 rolls were medium and 2 were too small. Our nigiri platter didn’t have all the stuff like Inari, Tamago, my daughter loves it and I had to request for the second order. The second sushi and sashimi platter took 15 mins to come with the ugly sushi, the rice out of the seaweed wrap, and only 1 flavour with chicken.
The other thing was the loud music from sushi bar, we couldn’t talk to each other because the noise from the Rap music. My daughter fell so headache about that, even the staff came to tell the sushi staff, he turned it down a bit then louder again. While I was waiting for the food to our table, I walked pass the sushi bar and I thought it had been the music bar, not the sushi bar, music too loud and the sushi staff just enjoyed and sang the music. He totally forgot our order.
Everything was fine, only about the sushi and my suggestion is, re -train for sushi staff because it is not the only time I have the experience with the sushi at Williamstown.
All the best with your staff, I will be back with my family again.
Tasty food but WORST SERVICE EVER! Calling the waiters, no attention to the customers, never looking in our direction and always facing the bar!
No smile, no greetings … used to love Okami restaurant but it changed a lots! 4 waiters + 2 robots for 9 tables and still no attention to customer. Sorry but not for me anymore I rather pay more and enjoy my time.
Wow what a rush. A rush to order, a rush to eat, a rush to pay. Food was ok, nothing special. Service was terrible. Hurry up and order so everyone gets confused when the food comes out and no one knows what it is when it arrives. Just push across the table to wherever and then walk away. Better off going elsewhere spending a little more for actual authentic Japanese food.
Every Okami restaurant I have been to have had amazing food for a very reasonable price, with friendly service. Can highly recommend to anyone looking to experience a wide variety of tasty Japanese food.
Decent price for all you can eat and nice food BUT the service was TERRIBLE! When we called the staff they never replied, no attention were given to us even if they were about 5 waiters for 9 tables. No smile or communication, even their robots were nicer.
Let me wait 15 mins only to tell me I could not have the item I wanted as I was dining alone. Was visiting to try the food for a larger special occasion but did not care. Thanks for disrespecting. Won’t bother coming back with my family.
Heartbreak. Went in with about 11 mates for a massive feed. Only to find out that they o or want to split bills. Sad to think they will not take our business and let us enjoy their delicious meal just for the fact that they do not want to endure the surcharge per person.
Absolute dog food …. Cannot believe this place has so many 5 star ratings what a waste of $50 unbelievable.
