This store makes international airports seem like a doddle when it comes to queuing and feeling your life slowly wasting away.

In the line for the print department, I had no less than 7 staff members in my field of vision at one point, none of whom were doing anything - certainly not bothered by the ever-growing queue of elderly and children alike. Prominent at the desk, a sign stated that rudeness and harassment of staff would not be tolerated, and I could only imagine the poor sods who had once stood exactly where I was standing now, but for an even more interminable length of time, staring with increasing bewilderment and despair as blue-shirted teens chatted and wandered around aimlessly, their eyesight apparently tuned to an entirely different light spectrum than the one customers are perceivable at.

When I was finally served, I said I was here to collect a poster I'd ordered for printing a few days earlier, and was handed a small piece of paper. When I explained that I'd ordered a 50 x 70cm poster, following careful Photoshopping of the image for that size and shape, I was told that "the invoice had come through as A4" and that I was welcome to fork out an extra $30+ for it to be done again - although I'd have to wait further, of course. Next to me, a Fitness First owner who'd had some posters of his own done wrongly shot me a look of "OfficeWorks lyfe, hey brother? "

If the need for staff training and management was indicated by one of those bushfire probability meters you see by the side of the road, Officeworks Preston would be on absolute red alert. Get your act together for Christ's sake and show your customers some respect.

Went to get some pictures printed and was greeted by Cheryl who is a rock star, helped me with the printer ECT, Thanks heaps. Staff are very helpful.

I normally don’t leave any bad reviews but after the very poor customer service showed I’d say will be a good idea have a chat with some of your staff member.we had a nice experience last Sunday and one of the lady was very helpful and ready to help! The other day was completely the opposite! Like we walked in a different store! It’s a shame that all the team will have to cop this one star review! I’m sure there’s someone there that cares and loves his job but that’s not like that for everyone apparently! All what we received back was a refund and zero interest on helping.very disappointed and I guess I may have to go to a different store from
now on!

Yesterday, I encountered a rude customer service assistant. She is of Asian background. She was so rude to me as if she didn't want to attend to me. I asked her a simple question and she outburst in an aggressive way. I reckon she didn't want to attend to people of coloured. Poor service from officework and this not good enough. Everyone needs to be treat with respect and dignity, regardless of their race, background, culture and etc

Waited in line to get served then was told I had to go wait at the back of the other Que as I was in the wrong line up! Really annoying and made me not want to come back.

Seriously good luck if you want to be treated kindly and with respect here.

We called about returning a laptop that we purchased here last week, because we didn’t like the restrictions and functionality of it - (we bought the laptop the night before we called) and asked what their refund policy was like ahead of time, so we could make sure there were going to be no problems in person if we were to bring it in.

The store manager in training answered and told us she wasn’t sure so had to wait until the next day to get an answer so we did.

The next day she rang and let us know we could just bring it back in for full store credit.

We brought the laptop back in the next day when we had time, and when we got there, we were immediately met with attitude and judgement by Patrick. He asked us what was wrong with it and we just told him it wasn’t what we were expecting and he was incredibly rude and judgmental about it but wouldn’t communicate the problem. Some other male staff member then came up to Patrick and they started whispering to each other saying things like “well what’s wrong with it though? Oh it’s just a change of mind? What? Why? ” While we stood there awkwardly just waiting.

During this, the staff member next to Patrick was also processing another refund for a male customer who was returning a speaker / radio, and that staff member just proceeded with the refund, no questions asked within 30 seconds.

By this point, Kaman, another staff had stepped in to “investigate” our laptop asking us for a third time, why we wanted to return it. We explained the situation and the person we spoke with on the phone previously. They all then kept whispering and discussing amongst themselves, staring at us, about this whole matter and no one communicated with us at all what the problem was.

Kaman frustratedly processed our refund back onto two gift cards and handed them to us without a word other than the amount that was on them.

We were sick of being treated with such awkward, uncommunicative and rude service, so I kindly asked Kaman what the problem was and why there seemed to be a major confusion regarding our request - (he was also wearing a camera around his neck so you’re more than welcome to check this).

He basically said that they don’t normally process refunds unless there’s a fault or if the packaging was fully sealed-
We then repeated the fact we called ahead of time first to ensure this was the correct process and what their policy was, to avoid this exact situation. At this point I was explaining that it was also just the way all 3 staff members were staring and murmuring under their breath and not communicating a single word to us throughout the entire ordeal that made us feel incredibly uncomfortable.

I asked how come the customer next to us got a full refund with no questions asked/ wasn’t basically interrogated the way we were, (even though he had opened and unboxed his item) - to which at this point, a random fourth, male staff member jumped in and said it was because what he was returning was fully sealed - even though I was not referring to him and whoever he served (he was 2 cash registers down from us and not relevant at all to this entire situation).

Then he physically argued with us that the item WAS sealed and we basically got so incredibly frustrated at this point because he had absolutely no idea what we were talking about / referring to, and he just chimed in trying to be the hero for no reason.

We asked for his name but he walked away after realising his mistake.

Long story short - we will never ever return to this officeworks again. That was the absolute worst service we’ve ever received - it was disgusting and I hope that these staff members learn a thing or two about speaking and treating people kindly.

Important to add that the only time we’ve ever experienced good service here was with a female staff member of asian descent from a different visit - she was bright, cheerful and kind so maybe she could train the rest of the team who could do with help

Print staff take their time at 10am Saturday. Was there along with 8 others in the queue. The 2 staff members were SLOW. At one point both were helping the same person, very frustrating.

Really bothered. The last three times I’ve gone theres been an outage issues, printers not working… worker got my passport photo dimensions wrong and now i must pay for an express and extra photos to be taken. Unfortunate mistake that has costed me lots.

Quite disappointed in the customer service for photo processing. I was told they would take a day to be done and I would receive a message. I then come in 2 days later and they couldn’t find my order and they said it hadn’t been done. I then had to wait around until they processed them. It would have been great if they just processed them whilst I was there the first time. Looks like I’ll be going back to Big W to get my photos done.

Just dropped in to pick up a click & collect, only 1 customer at the desk being served by an employee. The other staff member was standing there and as I approached I was just pointed to go away. After a few minutes ’Charles’ slowly meandered over to me scanned my barcode & grunted. He then took a 5 minute stroll to the shelf with my order & brought it over. Extremely slow, unenthusiastic & just plain rude.

Spent 30 minutes getting through self serve kiosk errors and issues trying to print passport photos only to find the EFTPOS didn't work, printed the receipt and waited a very long time at the counter when there were many staff doing little and one customer ahead of me only to then find a tiny sign only at one counter that stated passport photos are unavailable. Please put signs like this at kiosks, train your staff better (not their fault they're poorly trained) and fix your kiosk system.

Had the displeasure of being served by penny who stood and had an in depth personal conversation with another staff member whilst I was stood waiting right in front of her, and then gave me attitude when I asked for some assistance

The rating of this business is very reflective of the service provided

Go anywhere else if you can. Don’t support a company like this

Warning! Appalling customer service from two of the floor staff members (I won’t name any names). I rarely go out to my way to write negative reviews but this needed to be reported.

If I could give it a 0 I would. The staff were unhelpful, sarcastic and rude. Why work at office works to mock and treat your customers like garbage?

Highly recommend those staff are fired as they are poorly representing a large franchise and tarnishing its name for local customers.
It’s a real shame that these few specific workers make the rest of the staff look bad.

Until there is better management and workers, I recommend all customers please shop at JB-HIFI and avoid this Officeworks at all costs!

I had a very positive experience; I called them up about a camera on clearance and was greeted with a lovely lady (Nancy, I think it was), she was prompt, polite and attentive, and my Click & Collect was ready in 10 minutes! I was also served very promptly upon collection as well, so big thumbs-up to the team. Keep it up!
