For a while I wanted a costume. I was sick of buying that quick $10 top and done. I checked out this place and it was FANTASTIC! The staff was great, they answered all my questions, were friendly and help me with a costume that made me feel that I was the character I wanted to become.

I have been back 3 times and have no intentions of looking elsewhere.

A mate and I bought a set of armor and needed to make sure it fit. Staff were more then happy to oblige and help us fit it. Thomas stayed with us for over 2 hours helping us fit it properly and try different options. This place is incredible and the staff are impeccable.

Had an issue with a shield I had purchased, but staff were happy to replace it with no trouble.i really appreciate that, i get anxious when there i have a problem with something i've bought and can't help but feel bad for being picky but they made things feel very friendly and easy.
I have been shopping here for years and the equipment is always top quality. If you cannot make it to their store they are willing to bring what you want to an event most likely near you, weekly

I've been going to Of Science and Swords for a decade now, and the service has always been superb. I've watched the transition from books to LARP and roleplay based cosmetics such as contacts, ears, and costume prosthetics. At no point during this has the been any drop in quality or knowledge of their wares.

I highly recommend Of Science and Swords for anything to do with LARPing, costumes, and outfit accessories.

This is a specialty store for live action role playing games. Also has some fantasy and sci-fi books and neat collectables. Stafg are friendly and knowledgeable. They even do repairs.

Buckle in Ladies and Gentlemen, this is going to be a long one.

On the evening of October 11th I ordered the following goods
-Alaric Natural steel Finish chainmail Hood
-Leopold Leg gambesons
-Ateliers Nemesis Flamberge
All for around 400 dollars IIRC
plus another $33 for shipping, despite the fact that their website stated; 'FREE SHIPPING', at the time. I also took into account that it would be a maximum of 3 months before I would see my order (as per the Ateliers Nemesis disclaimer)

So I got in contact with them the next day and they were very friendly and considerate and refunded the $33 back to my account. However this would not be their only mistake. They did not give me a receipt for payment despite my polite request for one, I assumed this was overlooked and therefore did not want to nag them further on that particular matter.

After my first interaction with them I contacted them again on the 29th of January; simply to check up on my order and see if I was to receive it soon. Given the expected 3 month waiting period was well and truly over by that time, I was naturally getting concerned. They replied and stated that the next Ateliers Nemesis delivery was to arrive in another 3 weeks.
(late February)

I made the following statements; '109 days I've waited thus far, 3 more weeks won't hurt right? ' I was rather displeased at the time (I was going to a LARP in Brisbane on the 3rd of February and I would not receive the items I wanted for my Character. They apologised and offered an alternative through purchasing different (yet similar) items and paying only the difference or simply wait till it arrives in late February. I opted to wait and put it down as bad luck on the delay.

My next message was on the 1st of March, again I was wondering if they had forgotten me. They now stated that it will be yet another two weeks before they see my Ateliers Nemesis Flamberge. I was really stressed at this point and I gave them my next deadline, I had hoped to receive my order by the 16th of March as I have another LARP event in Brisbane I hope to attend on the 17th. I then proceeded to enquire about my other two items, to which they answered, 'Your other items are all from different suppliers. The Mytholon gear will not be arriving until April 9th because they sent it by sea freight. We -might- get the Epic Armoury gear in that time but are unsure'. At this time I was fairly certain I was being taken for a ride but played it cool and so I asked if I could go with alternate items as previously discussed and they said in summary; yes. They said they would cover the difference in price and thus I was at peace with that.

I should also mention they requested that I put up a good review for them at this time, but what happened next will hopefully make you understand why I haven't.

On the 13th March I finally received my first sign of a receipt via Email and two tracking numbers for my Flamberge and Leopold gambesons. However the Chain mail hood was not on the receipt and so I inquired.
They answered back and stated they were now OUT OF STOCK of the alternate Chainmail hood they suggested and could SUBSTITUTE it for the ORIGINAL. Yes you read that right, they had the original to start with, I can only conclude that they didn't bother to look. So they sent the natural finish chain mail hood in a separate receipt, they stated that both orders (since they were now separated through internal mistakes) would be picked up on the same day.

Tracking numbers normally take 24 hours to work and 25 hours later I still wasn't able to track it, maybe now I'm just being impatient (you tell me) but in my defense, it has been exactly 154 days since I made my order.
I finally got informed that I could track it through a link they gave me.

Which then stated it was only picked up today, not the day before.furthermore it would take till the 20th of March before I see my order.
4 days too late.

I received the last of my order 5 days AFTER the event i had planned to use them for.

I have bought much of my armour from this establishment and found them helpful and full of helpful tips in starting out, but as I visited them more I found certain faults with the way they handled business, their reputation for late deliveries is not blown out of proportion as I and MANY other people I have talked to have found out, they also have a hard time understanding the rules and laws surrounding refunds as I found out. In summary, they are a great place to start out at and worth checking out but proceed with caution and if they don't have it order it on line, it'll be five times faster, if you want a refund, get a lawyer, they banned me afterwards though.
