Oatlands Primary School reviews
20Not a great school. Years ago they were focused on wellbeing and zero tolerance for bullying, now they are all about resilience and preparing the students for secondary school and the real world:/ I was constantly complaining about bullying and they implied that my child my exaggerating, even when it started getting physical they took no action. My child’s mental health was rapidly deteriorating and had no choice but to change schools. Also very overcrowded school and too many children in a class my child was very behind and struggling constantly. Nightmare at drop off and pick up times not enough parking, too many cars and kids trying to cross the road, very dangerous.
I recently graduated from Oatlands and it as been a great 7 years most of the teachers are very friendly and I have never been bullied or see somebody get bullied, as far as everything else the canteen is great and as an experienced user of the lunch order system the food there is great, they do quite well in most subjects except for English
I loved going here, I miss it a lot, but the policies on some things make no sense. Like the friends policy, you don't have to be friends with everyone, and you can't stop being friend with people because they want to be 'inclusive' but really that's just one sided.
They are very good with education.
The discipline was enforced
The way they handled bullying is good.
You should send your kids here, it's a lovely environment to be in.
Awwwh, i'm so sad to leave the school but i made really awesome memories that i'll never forget (i probably will but whatever ;) ). My five and a half years of Oatlands have been fun and interesting. I made so many friends there and everyone at the school is really cool. Whenever there is a problem in the yard and a student tells a teacher, the teachers always talk to the person who started the problem and deals with it properly:). Learning in Oatlands was fun and difficult at times but I have learnt stuff.the school made me feel safe and comfortable, the teachers are awesome and the students are nice. There is not much bullying in Oatlands. I will miss the environment and the vibe of the school but I will come and visit! Thank you Oatlands for being a big part of my life!
Great school, sad to leave. There are special programs that high achieving kids can get into and I am grateful to be part of 2 of those. If you hate writing however you can blame most teachers up to grade 6 other than that great school.
BEST SCHOOL IN THE WORLDDDDDD!
I left last year in year 5 and I was so sad. Friends and teachers were so supportive and kind. When I moved schools I didn't want to and I still don't. I want to come back!: (THIS IS THE BEST SCHOOL EVER. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!
This is my last year at Oatlands Primary School (Grade 6) and honestly I am so sad to leave. It is the best school I have ever been to. I love it so much. Everyone is nice, inclusive and very supportive. No bulling or any bad influences. This school is like a home to me. I've only been at this school for 6 years and it has had such a great impact on me and all the students. All teachers are nice and kind as well as students. Recommend to anyone. The only thing I am very disappointed in is the fact that it is not a secondary school as well. If so I would 100% go. Once again best school ever. No words to describe it.
Loved Oatlands, I am now in secondary school. I was there at Oatlands since prep, and I absolutely loved all the teachers, they taught us great values. Were there for there students. Prepared us for secondary school and everything. If we ever needed any extra help with anything they would always pull us aside and give us more help. I absolutely recommend this school for your children! ️️️ - Stefan Sekuloski
Hi my name is Rison I left the school a while ago it was the best. I had a lot of great friends and teachers I used to live in Canberra then moved to Melbourne then again moved to Canberra. If the principal of this reads this could you please give an acknowledge to all the students and teachers to tell them how great they are and how great the school is. I think about Oatlands every day even though im at another school. Thank you to all my teachers I still remember you year1 Mrs Mc kee year 2 Miss white and Mrs mc aughn year 3 Miss T (brittany ternanov) Year 4 Miss collie and finally Miss M. Thank
sincerly Rison
This school is a great school I recommend you send your kids here mostly all of the teachers are not too strict. This school will be really good for your kids
I left the school but its a great school!
MY FAVE TEACHER WAS MISS T (BRITTANY TERNANOV) and SHE STILL IS
A good school years ago, but really gone down hill in recent years. Roughly 1400 students now and too large to manage. Your child is just a number unless they are a captain or parents are part of the school council. The school really lacks in certain areas. Not as dedicated and nurturing as they claim to be.
Oatlands Primary is a great school, my three children attended there. They loved attending school with such supportive and encouraging staff.
BEST Primary school EVER!
Teachers and principles are very friendly and support the kids so much. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone. I'm in Gr 5 and i can't imagine going to another school
Looking back at my years in this primary school i never really enjoyed how issues were handled. The people they hire to teach us how to defend ourselves against bully's may be helpful for year 3 and below but as i got into year 5,6 Everything they claimed to teach us was just repeated from the previous years, to add to that my teacher was quiet moody towards students, the sex education also disgusted me watching a woman give birth is not something a 12 year old should be shown. I appreciate the fact that they try to prepare us for the future but things can get way out of hand at that school
Oatlands, I’m in year 7 this year but I was in Oatlands from prep to grade 6. It was a roller coaster of emotions, the treatment of everyone whether they be girl, boy, LGBTQI+, disabled or from any nationality was somehow the exact same. We were taught to respect. We were also in a way taught that it’s ok to be little lighthearted and have some fun, special thanks to Mr Rolf, Mr Tapscott, Mrs Nicholas, Ms Brouwer and the principal team who made our experience so much more special. Here we were also helped according to our academic level, people who struggled were helped and pushed, people who were averaged were challenged and people who were above average were also challenged. Those with disabilities had amazing care and respect given to them. The main theme in general was love and respect, everyone gained each other’s respect because no one ever felt lonely because everyone always helped those who were alone and included them. On the last day of grade 6 there was no one without a tear on their face, everyone even people who disliked each other made peace and just hugged it out on the last day. I miss Oatlands and it will always have a special place in my heart, if you are looking a school for your children, Oatlands is perfect.
I used to like this school until they changed the prices of zooper dooper by 5 cents they used to be 50 cents now there 55 cents i mean come on 55 cents is to much, I can go down to the shops and buy a 24 pack for 7 bucks
Parents that send their children there tend to be highly strung overly ambitious types whom flout the zoning recommendations in desperate attempts to compensate for their own intellectual deficiencies in worship of the NAPLAN god
This is a great school, i highly recommend it if you are looking for a School to send your children to.
Fantastic school for both my children. The support given to my special needs child is fantastic
