Oakleigh-Carnegie RSL Club reviews
27Not sure how this place has had good ratings unless the chef was off sick today. If I had not just paid nearly $60 for the 2 of us and wasn’t so hungry I would have walked out. Not one for making a fuss we ate what we could and I took home the dried up piece of rubber that was supposed to be barramundi for my dogs. My husband’s fish (whiting we think) was all crumb and paper thin fish. Stupidly ordered garlic bread without looking at price but still expected something edible. It was 4 small slices from a loaf you can buy frozen from the supermarket and it was soggy on the edges and tasted like the freezer. Chips were only thing worth eating but obviously supermarket frozen chips. Sorry guys if this is typical we won’t be back.
2nd time I've been to see live bands. Both times had dinner. Calamari was fantastic and tonight's T-Bone was spot on. Cleanest toilets I've ever seen! Classic laid back RSL style service, warm Aussie style, like stepping back to the 70s. Great prices too.
We had our car club meeting here recently, our first time here, and we were catered for very well. A private room with a screen suitable for our presenter, and plenty of room for our group. Very good meals served promptly and quite a nice selection for the house Shiraz.
Best T-Bone steak I've had for a long time, and great value. Friendly service and great prices.
Great spot for live bands. Saw The Sorry Boys and they were terrific. Fun night out and reasonably priced drinks too.
Great atmosphere and a fantastic band room. The sound quality is amazing and the staff are friendly.
Great afternoon, dancing & listening to music from the REPETERS Band, in the company of friends from Lifestyle Meridian.
WOW! One of the worst nights I've ever had. Myself and 5 friends attended for pre dinner show before the "No 1 Blues Brothers Tribute Band" last night (21.1.23). To start with the "manager" of dining room stunk of BO. Also, when we ordered dinner we asked if we could have veggies with the meal (as described on menu) we were told by same that they were very busy in the kitchen. We would get what they made. There was only our table being occupied in the dining room. Surprisingly, the food was ok. Except for one of the meals being served without the side salad promised on menu. We did ask for it and are still waiting. On to the show.the room is an old music hall which has never been upgraded for band's modern sound system. Sound was atrocious. Echoy and distorted. Now the band.there was an original member (my friends had seen them precovid and had told us how amazing they were) he played harmonica and sang. He was very good as were the female singers. The 2nd lead singer wad in his dotage, had no voice and was too old to be able to do the dance moves. I couldn't even say he was amateur as i could sing better. I complained to the sound techs about his lack of voice and they did not look at all surprised. I object to paying good money for such a show. Unfortunately, the 2nd lead singer ruined an otherwise good band. We left at the first interval at about 9.15pm. I think we really should be given a refund. I would suggest noone go to the Oakleigh RSL for any live music as they are definitely not set up for it.
Nice meals. Friendly staff. Needs a bit more promo to kick this place off, as there is apt of potential. JMO
Excellent great meal friendly staff went out of their way to help. Will return and take family and friends.
Great RSL with a pleasant outdoor area. I was also here for the All Hobby Swap Meet (though I would not claim it covers *all* hobbies as there was an under-representation of topiary and philately, just to name a couple). This was a great swap meet and it is terrific that the RSL is able to host such events.
The service was great. Staff where terrific especially helping my friend who was physically disabled. The band Baby Boomers where awesome
Excellent! Live music in the beer garden by the Repeters. Great atmosphere. Drinks at reasonable prices. Restaurant not open except for snacks. But quite adaquate for the time of day.

A beautiful RSL Club with no poker machines. Lovely Beer Garden and bountiful Bistro. A friendly and safe environment for members
and the community.
A great little place to enjoy good food and a perfect cold beer in very comfortable surrounds.the staff are very professional and welcoming
I look forward to returning to the well run RSL
We have visited "The Oakleigh Lounge" within the RSL several times, a great music venue. They have local bands of various genre's on a regular basis at reasonable admission prices. A great way to support local bands and have a great night or Sunday afternoon out with a few drinks. I would highly recommend it.
