The hotel is next to the convention and exhibition center and DFO supermarket, so it is convenient for shopping and entertainment, along the banks of the Yarra River, Melbourne, you can also go to the Tram station about 500m, going into the city center.free street. In the room there are books introducing the city and a map of the Tram route to the center and tourist attractions. We traveled with the Eurotravel group from January 2 to 4,2024. Rich breakfast with sausages, fried rice, fried pork, vegetables and fruits, steamed dumplings, coffee eggs, hot cocoa, soy milk, yogurt in the refrigerator.free for the morning.

We had a night away for our anniversary, We stayed here as we wanted to go to the LUME before going to a concert, which was right outside and 1 minute walk.
Having the DFO across the road made it easy to squeeze in a bit of shopping.
It was a little odd having to use 2 different elevators to access the rooms but not an issue at all
A short walk 3 minute to the car park.
We will stay here again when that location suits us.
Right next to a freeway and we didnt even hear the traffic at all.

Nice hotel and super location. But it was difficult to sleep comfortably in the "Queen" size bed that I had booked. It was in fact two single beds joined together. Many hotels do this but I expected better of Novotel. A Queen bed means a Queen size mattress - not two singles fixed together, with the resulting "crack" down the middle and shifting of the two adjacent mattresses. Poor night's sleep detracted from my stay at a very nice hotel.

We stayed as a couple to attend an event at the Plenary Theatre Saturday 16th December. It was lovely to arrive early and our room was ready and upgraded with acknowledgment of our Accor Platinum membership. We walked into the room and it was so nice that the air conditioning was on and the room was so clean and welcoming. Only let down really is the breakfast, we went quite early but it was already busy and lots of the hot food was depleted and the coffee machine was out of milk, the gentlemen showed us to a table but didn't explain you could order eggs, we only saw that on a sign at the buffet area and we didn't realise you could order barista coffee. As platinum member the breakfast was included and I wouldn't actually bother paying to eat there if that was the choice. We loved the room and the bed is so comfortable been a memory foam style and also nice to sleep as its very quiet. As we had stayed previously the parking was easy to use in DFO. Overall a nice stay.

Everything is fine except for the terrible bfast. The bacon is dry and tough, the poached eggs are way overcooked same with scrambled egg.

Loved this hotel, was greeted in the foyer like we were regular customers, then upgraded our room free of charge.
Would stay again, only gripe is the cost of parking being $35 but a small price given the friendly service we received!

Just an overnight stay to visit the Monet Exhibition next door. This hotel is beautifully situated for accessing South Wharf activities, including "The Lume" (adjoining building), DFO, restaurants and bars (across the road) and the Melbourne Exhibition Centre (also right outside the door). Parking is also adjacent at "Wilson DFO Parking" and was $35 paid at hotel reception for 24+hrs. Concierge is on Ground Floor and Reception on 5th Floor. We were on the 23rd floor with a view back up the Yarra River into the CBD. I expect all upper floors would offer panoramic views. Very quite, comfortable bed, good pillow selection. Bathroom and shower very good and sizeable. Air-conditioning I found a little variable despite simple control system. Seemed to vary from cool to warm at times but that could have been me. Staff all extremely pleasant. Small coffee shop on 5th floor near reception and of course dining and bar options. Happy hour 4pm to 6pm - 40% off.

Lovely hotel: nice tidy rooms, very comfy bed, good water pressure in the shower. Nice restaurant, really friendly helpful staff, especially George the Concierge who was such a sweetheart! This was my second stay and I will definitely come back.

One of the best Places to stay and I will recommend this place if you are travelling with family. Kids really enjoyed the food here.

Excellent for price. Only reason for 4 stars is because I left dirty sock under bed, went to get it but was locked out. I hope cleaner didn't keep it for herself
Update. Got the same room and retrieved my sock. 5 star

Very nice views, rooms were quiet considering the hwy below, the beds were extremely comfortable and nice soft pillows however did expect the room to have at least a double coach, especially as it was a room for 2 adults to 2 kids. The bathroom was spacious and the shower very large. We had the buffet breakfast this was superb really enjoyed the variety of food delicious. DFO was only a hop skip and jump away, that was excellent. Would definitely go back

Room was nice except for dirty duvee and moisture on the ceiling as seen in the photos. Views were spectacular!

13th floor had a great view. Rooms were neat and tidy with enough basic commodities to make a stay of 3 or 4 days, pleasant enough. Any longer than that however, you may want a larger space, as the room we were in was fairly small.
Pleasant staff greet you with a smile and were more than happy to assist.
The location is fantastic though. Google the location for a better idea, but you're within walking distance of many of Melbourne's amazing attractions!

I’ve had two interactions with Novotel in the last few months, and both have been disappointing. It seems guest experience is a low priority these days.
First, in October 2022, I had wanted to treat my mother, staying for the weekend, with a breakfast in bed, so I gave my own CC; we were double charged. (The subpar coffee was delivered to the room in a takeaway cup)

Second, this weekend just gone, I dropped a birthday gift with the Concierge, to deliver to a guest’s room, only to learn that they did not receive the gift until the day of check out. Upon calling I was told that the gift had been picked up when the guest checked in, not true. What is the point of having a concierge?
I would not recommend Novotel South Wharf to any of my friends or family. Disappointing.

The rooms are large and comfortable, unfortunately the traffic noise from a large highway is constant. I started on the 13th floor and found it difficult to sleep. I had another room on the 15th floor that was better. I suspect those who didn't have an issue have been on the higher floors. The view from the lower floor is primarily the highway, not the best to look out and see all the traffic. The location is ok if you want to be in the middle of a DFO mall, otherwise you're in amongst the highway and a semi-industrial area. The restaurant was nice but a fairly limited and expensive menu. Breakfast was also expensive at $35 for the full buffet (again a relatively limited selection of food on offer). Overall I'll be trying a different hotel in future.

The hotel is at a good location and the room was comfy. Unfortunately the location was the only thing great about this hotel. We opted for breakfast for the 8 days that we were there and honestly the breakfast was abysmal. The menu never changed it was the same fare day in day out. The Buffett station so small, no space to move around when there was a rush of people trying to get food. Requests to get different food was not met.staff was friendly but it did not help the situation. Also the lifts were not working in our entire stay which led to long waits while waiting for lifts from our 18th floor. Hope you guys can improve this.

The location and the view from the hotel was amazing. I think only enjoy the view during my stay. Room could have been cleaned better. Dust all over the room can be easily seen. I think for me there was no information provided in the room about the hotel services at all. Overall NOVOTEL didn't meet upto this hotel's standard.
