Nossal High School

Being a student at this school is atrocious. You think you're going to get premium education and premium teachers but it's the most clueless school I have attended. Some teachers are amazing but some are so biased in how they treat students. The wellbeing is awful to the extent where the Head of Wellbeing, and now Assistant Principal, causes mental complications with their own students, completely contradicting their role in the school. They blackmail students and restrict access from other teachers so that they can be the only voice in the situation and are generally an unpleasant person. They consistently take favourites and withhold or give out punishment as they see fit. Survival in Nossal is dependant on whether or not you can become a slave to their regime, regardless of how bright you may be.

A highly overrated school, that lacks in reality. Everything is for the show, to uphold the spectacular reputation, of being a high quality selective school. Most of the teachers hired are straight out of university and therefore completely lack the experience needed to teach high achievers properly. So, how is this issue overcome? With independent learning tasks, that force students to search the web hours upon hours, in order to suit the overly specific learning objective of each task. Students weekly waste, what could have been valuable learning time, on things like "Nossal Time", which the vast majority of students render useless, to this the teachers and principal simply close their eyes, and continue to enforce wellbeing techniques on students. This doesn't help any of the students who actually need emotional support, but instead wastes the time of those who would rather be learning, a task which is almost forbidden, during the hours of "Nossal Time".

Best secondary school in the area. Nice and quiet location. Spacious car park.
Academically highly performing school in the area. This is a selective school and all the smart kids come here after selective school exams.
Very well supportive system for students.
Newly built school just over decade ago and buildings are sound and modern compared to old schools in the area.
School treats students as adults. More of self discipline rather than forced by teachers. Front office is very helpful.
Any issues addressed accordingly.
Over 90s in VCE are in abundance.
Parent teacher interviews are regular.
Reports on time. Parents are updated in regular basis via emails. Some teachers offer after hours support. Overall as a parent well satisfied.

Dont go here, they capitalise students successes as their own.bad school in general, just go somewhere else you nerd

This school is beautiful, has great education, They really care about students, close to me and h just love how they have all the beautiful plants! Well done for all teachers, You do good education

Wifis so bad I can't even play zombs royale. Currently been in the emergency room for 10 years due to this. However this school is life changing, went from being an active zombs player to sleeping in monash hospital.

Full of mhs/mghs rejects and in the middle of nowhere. Also there are no hot girls at Nossals. Clapped is an understatement, they are a whole standing ovation.

I'm warning you guys. This school is the ABSOLUTE worst! DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU TO GO THERE. It may seem good on the outside but in reality, it's the worst. Lol and blazers are so not in.

I really appreciate how Nossal encourages their students to take up unconventional extra curricular activities.i really valued my time there and the opportunities i was presented with, from the camps, the surf camps, the excursions to the representation of Australian culture with Kangaroo riding lessons. Great school 10/10

I think the high atar scores from the school is due to the school only accepting smart individuals who study on a basis, the education is above the normal level however the teaching is very lacking due to the school hiring graduates with less experience. The buildings look very clean and modern. There is alot of wasteful programs in this school like the concept of "nossal time" which is either: wellbeing exercises or free time. The wellbeing exercises are a horrible approach to mental health due to the methods being boring and repetitive. The school also does alot to invade in students privacy.

Very good school! I am trying out next year! Very high VCE standards. I went for a tour earlier in 2021 and principal was really nice and that really gave me the encouragement of pursue my dreams in nossal!

I have been to a public school and a selective school (nossal) You could say school is abit overrated but not that its bad. Nossal selective test was really competitive and if you didn't get in its not a big deal. Yes nossal might have more resources and more encouraging peers but you've already got what you needed. I know a friend that went to a public school and got a 97 atar. Its not impossible and nossal is not your life cause ive met some people depressed that they haven't got in, and with my experience move on cause you have the will

An amazing school that I have been given the privilege of attending. I highly recommend you to try out for this school, its a nice environment with excellent teachers and like minded students. Nossal promotes an adult learning environment where students are responsible for their own learning, but always have teachers to assist them if necessary, which I personally really like about the school. We have many extra curricular activities such as inter-school sports, music, clubs, debating, and more.

Leadership and student voice play a huge role in the functioning of the school, as House captains/vice captains get to organise activities such as inter-house competitions, and the SRC try to implement student suggestions for the betterment of the school. Nossal High School accommodates for students with all interests, whether that may be Maths, Science, English, Sports, Music, or Leadership! We are given many opportunities to "Embrace the Challenge''.

This school is not really good. I think this school is relatively small and is not good for pursuing sports.

Awesome school with awesome teachers. I honestly can say that this school has one of the best learning environments in Victoria and it is an awesome place to learn.

Teachers and peers are really good and extremely supportive and it really creates a well knit environment of people who want to support each other to become the best version of themselves.

Extra-curricular are really good, with awesome music, sport and theater programs.as well as a lot of clubs.

One of the best integrated online learning environments in the country with the use of Microsoft Teams.

Easy access from a 10 minute walk from Berwick train station.

The adult learning environment is really awesome that they have going and creates for an awesome experience.

I can honestly say that making the decision to try out for Nossal was the best decision that I have ever made in my life. If you are considering applying, please do, you won't regret it.

So proud of my both kids school. Specialy how they handle in this pandemic time. So professional and understand kids very well.

It's funny to see all the one star reviews are from the people who didn't even get in. I went for my child's orientation today and school/ teachers/ students seem fantastic.

Best at minecraft so i rated 5 star, i need more wins in minecraft, has good wifi and good ping. If you want good as wifi go here. The canteen is a scam

So overrated it’s got the worst sub teachers. And some of the normal teachers don’t live up to the” selective school standard”. I warn everyone to do their research before trying out

This school is my home, I love everyone in it. Beautiful school that provides free food in certain cases. 10/10
