A $4 donation to this service is money well spent considering you receive 3 large bags of food - frozen, fresh produce & grocery items.
The range & quality of food provided is often surprisingly good - although this has unfortunately fluctuated & decreased over the past few months. There has also been a noticeable amount of spoilt food making its way through, although this has not been of the usual standard I've received over the last 4 - 5 years I've been attending this food bank.
The standard of service provided by staff has been exceptional; they're well organised, proficient & most of all VERY lovely, friendly & informative️. The atmosphere has a beautiful community feel which is friendly & an opportunity to have a chat with staff or others attending the service.
Unfortunately, there seems to be a small issue around the last minute cancellation of the food van, leaving people standing around waiting unbeknownst. In fact, this occurred to me & several others today as no one had informed us of this (not to mention that we'd failed to pay attention to the 2 small notes taped up on the side of the building!). This hasn't been a common experience at Northpoint, although it has occurred on a handful of occasions.
I don't want my feedback to sound like a lot of criticism & complaining, because this service has been a literal life saver to me & my family - for which I am extremely grateful. ️️

Wouldn’t recommend this place. I get that they are trying to help people but I would rather starve than eat what they offer. I read the reviews and thought ok I’m in a bad situation and struggling and maybe they can help but not one item was fresh. Bananas bruised, meat that’s frozen and well past it’s date, tomatoes all smooshed in the bag, yoghurts and desserts that have almost expired 1 week ago, I think they are trying to make people sick, literally everything is past it’s date. I had to throw everything in the bin.

$4 per person. No appointment needed. Lovely staff. Usually get a bag of fruit and veg in your parcel, alongside other items, varies week by week.

The most rudest people I have ever dealt with. The first time I came in and I was in need of a food parcel for my family of 5 and they didn’t provide me with any because I didn’t have money on me and they require you to donate to get food. Isn’t this service for people like me who can’t afford to make ends meet?

With open hearts.

It is better to give than to receive.

One who has not served
Has not learnt how to live.

Northpoint Centre Community Hub offers assistance to those in need, whether they be struggling financially or helping those wanting to transition back into the workforce, where they are treated with respect and kindness in a family-friendly safe atmosphere to participate in WFD (work for the dole) programs. Food parcels may be purchased at a nominal fee, which comprise of a healthy generous amount of fresh produce, which is delivered daily onsite as well as a great variety of prepackaged food and miscellaneous items. An assortment of fresh bread and sweet items such as doughnuts and cakes are a favourite and available as part of a food parcel. Fresh milk plays an important part of a healthy diet and lifestyle and is made available for families. Additionally, infant foodstuffs is also available for young mothers to cater for their growing child. Northpoint Centre is always in need of capable volunteers to assist with the enormity of their services and newcomers are very welcome. Even though the myriad of volunteers are the backbone of the organization and freely give of their time and labour, each and every one of them is handsomely rewarded at the end of the day in the knowledge that their tireless efforts are assisting their fellow man. Donations are very much appreciated and valued to continue the tireless efforts of Northpoint Centre's assistance to the community at large.by Claudio Salib
