Northern College of the Arts & Technology reviews
11Very friendly and helpful, if you're interested check the place and take the time to choose your own mind
Now I suffer from anxiety and stress. No 1 care about me. This school is the worst. They thought I am negative. Every 1. Thanks
Do not go to this school. My friend who moved to this school to do VCE music is currently in the process of moving due to lack of care and organisation. I've heard them several times complaining about the way the teachers run the classes and deal with the groups for VCE music and they're struggling to give there full potential because of that. This is really disappointing
I'm studying visual arts, a course called create for mature students, thumbs and toes up for the facilities and the teachers
As a student of NCAT I’d just like to say this school is wonderful! Although covid has made my year and everyone’s year a living hell I still felt welcomed and safe at the school.
Terrible school, especially when it comes to special needs students. There is an overwhelming atmosphere of ableism here. The teachers always try to make them feel like they don't belong there and label them the bad guy if they complain. The worst offenders are the music and art departments. They practically make it their duty to give anyone with a disability a hard time. They may look progressive on the outside, but are incredibly intolerant and judgemental on the inside.
I went to this school for VCE and as much as it wasn't the most pleasant experience, the school itself is up and coming! The principal is passionate about the school she is creating and is sweet and kind to talk to, the teachers (with a few exceptions) are amazing and very approachable which made my studies a lot easier. I saw another review talking about the tack of disability support.personally I wasn't aware of a learning disability I have struggled with all through my schooling until my NCAT English teacher picked it up.from there she helped me get support and special consideration on my end of year exams.for the principal, she has always been super encouraging and even helped me get into VCA.the students that currently go to this school don't reflect how good the facilities and the teaching are yet.but when they do I think NCAT will be up there with VCASS and PSA for performing arts high schools.
NCAT is perhaps the worst school in Melbourne.
It's currently ran by an amoral principal who goes out of her way to make life miserable for her students, and treats the school as business rather than a place of education. She cares more about making a pile of money than the minds of young adults. Barely anyone who studies at NCAT, past and present, have anything nice to say about her.
And the school is a hell hole for those with disabilities. Despite their claims to be progressive, NCAT are intolerant towards people who may have poor eyesight or are on the autistic spectrum or whatever. The principal only keeps the disabled kids around for the sake of publicity whenever government officials offering grants or extra funding are in town. Every other day, students with disabilities are treated poorly: They are labelled as burdens, they are often neglected by the teachers during class time, are constantly denied the proper help they need in class (and the teachers have the nerve to say that it's the student's own fault if he or she fails to learn anything), and are often excluded from major events like Open Day music gigs and school art exhibits and such like. A majority of the teachers are absolutely horrible when it comes to students with the disabilities. They mercilessly humiliate them and isolate them. They are callous bullies who take no responsibility for the emotional wounds they cause and thus should have been sacked a long time ago.
I honestly don't recommend this school. It's a lousy place that aims to destroy people emotionally, especially if they have a disability. Those who say that NCAT is a great school are either lying and oblivious to what's going on around them. It's a real nightmare to study there.
NDS - Northland Design Studies is a great way to prepare a folio for entry in Art & Design courses at Uni or TAFE. NDS is a year 13 Folio Preparation year. Well located next to Northland Shopping Centre, it has easy access to public transport. The program runs 4 days a week over a full year.
From photography to dance, motor mechanics to instrument repair this hands on creative college has it all. They are in fact one of the few colleges in Australia still offering full film processing facilities and printing for both black and white and colour as part of their Diploma of Photo Imaging. The Diploma of Photo Imaging is unique to this college and highly regarded in Industry and the Higher Education sector.
I loved my time at NC AT. It is so different from your average secondary school. I was treated as an adult learner and I achieved so much. I am now in my dream apprenticeship. Would recommend to anyone interested in technology and future trade directions. Also has awesome art and music programs - and there is also a guitar making course!
