Non Solo Vino Italian Restaurant and Deli

Quaint and very quiet restaurant. We were the only diners on a Thursday night so had 100% of the attention of the owners, Marco and Laura.

The restaurant has potential, but unfortunately it is located in an unfavorable location at the southern end of Glenferrie Road with little foot traffic and cars unable to park out the front - hence why it is so quiet. I hope for the owner's sake the place can survive but with the prices they charge and the poor location, I have my doubts sadly.

Food - very fresh, well presented and tasty. The issue is that the portion sizes are miserly and not commensurate with the prices they charge - see receipt. The only "winner" was the cannoli, in which we got two for $16. A glass of wine was $19. A very simple and small salad was $15 and the John Dory fish was completely unsubstantial in size with a very small (i.e. Approx. 100gram) portion with a few al dente cooked tomato pieces - all for $45 which is extortionate. The duck dish I ordered had a long bone with barely any meat, a small drumstick with a tiny bit of meat and a tiny breast plus a few fried zucchini pieces which was disappointing. I would've ordered some other main, but nothing took my fancy. The ricotta ravioli was nice.

Service - very friendly, but a little slow due to Marco being the chef and having to cook all from scratch while also talking to us for a while. With Marco being the only chef, I'm sure service would be slower on busy nights as there's only so much one person can do.

Atmosphere - very nicely done and felt very welcoming, though there was little "atmosphere" with no one else in restaurant.

Despite my honest review above, I did have a nice evening, though $192 for two people and little food, it did leave me disappointed. Though, having said that, I did think that this would be the case prior to booking.

Very disappointing, the chef was so Rude. Made my family feel very uncomfortable. I'm sure he didn't want us there because we had young children. 2 stars, one for each waiter. Food was good but Marco needs to stay in the kitchen!

5 stars is not enough for this restaurant, the food is loveling prepared by the talented Chef Marco, and a joy on the tastebuds. Laura always makes us welcome with her beautiful smile and laugh. Nate the sever well one of the best I've come across, a perfect mix of extremely professional and easy going. Have I mentioned the food!

Wow - this place is special! I feel like such a fool searching farther afield when whe best restaurant was in my backyard all along. Stumbled across this restaurant for dessert but we will be back again and again for meals. This restaurant deserves to be full every night of the week.

Well the food was amazing, very authentic Italian food. But the attitude from the owner Marco (I think it was) was just absolutely shocking.
We entered the restaurant and the blind fell off the door as the door opened past 90deg. Mind you I'm on crutches and my auntie need assistance getting in. He came storming over like we had broken the door and then proceeds to tell us that he is going to charge us $100 to fix it. My mother apologises for the blind and he proceeds to fix it back up on the door. He was then disappointed that we brought our children (only 2 kids and 2 highchairs) with us as he was expecting 8 adults, even though we said 8 seats plus 2 high chairs.
We brushed it off and enjoyed the food.
We then left and his wonderful wife opened the door to help us out which she also knocked the blind and it fell on the ground. He then comes out all disgruntled and annoyed with us assuming we did it and he has a go at us. I had none of it and tried to explain how ridiculous his actions are all over a small cheap blind.
The food was great but his attitude, aggression and lack of compassion is what will stop bringing returning or even recommended customers back.
It's a shame really.
Would be best if he just stayed out the back and cooked and let the rest of the staff do there thing.

I have been to many Italian Resturants around the world especially Italy. When you step into the Restaurant it quite quaint very clean and certainly charming. However the size of the meal is very very small.

Second time here and even better than last time. Rack of lamb was perfect! This was after a divine cheese platter. The service is attentive and charming, it is great to be able to chat with the chef about food! And there is a small deli attached where you can get difficult to find ingedients.

A fantastic cooking lesson on the 9th April. Such warm and generous hosts. The food was sensational. Will definitely be coming back again!

Went there a few weeks ago and were pleasantly surprised at this hidden gem and we were warmly welcomed. The food was fabulous and the menu varied with great options. Definately will return to this local restaurant and strongly recommend others make the the effort to travel to go there.

I was lucky enough to visit Marco and Laura for my birthday yesterday and all I can say is Squisito!

I have not been fortunate enough to visit Italy as of yet but the dining experience at Non Solo Vino made me want to book a flight to Italy on the spot.

Chef Marco produces the most delicate and flavorful food with all of the love and care you could ask for. Even better, he delivers the food himself and takes you on a culinary journey describing the Italian region from which the food is from.

I had the Bruschetta al Pomodoro, Ravioli Verdi Di Zucca, Charcuterie Platter and the Tiramisu. Each item is something I'd happily eat each day for the rest of my life.

If you only try one thing at Non Solo Vino, make it the Ravioli Verdi Di Zucca. It brings a whole new meaning to pasta and I now truly understand the meaning of al dente. Don't forget to pair your food with some Italian wine to complete the experience (Italian music and all).

This is a hidden gem, if you want to experience authentic, real Italian cuisine this is the place for you. Their home made pastas, seafood nights, wine selection is incredible. The array of Italian, well presented, served and prepared food is top end restaurant quality at a reasonable price. The service from the beautiful couple makes you feel at home. I would like to thank Marco for allowing me to relive fond childhood memories of my nonna's and mothers meals. Vi voglio bene ragazzi.
