I have bought four of Elsa Thorp's botanical creations, which now grace the walls of our house. I love them because they bring into my home and life complex constructions of Australian flora, beginning with the delicate yet strong intertwining of dried vines; their delicate tendrils creating further depth and shape. Within and along these vines, Elsa incorporates the beauty she sees from our flora; diverse gum nuts, spiked flowers and leaves with the spectrum of shades of Australia's unique landscape. They are, for me, a living sculpture, their shapes and hues change as the day progresses. I am constantly moved by a new discovery of the colour, twist and structures of these exquisite and bold sculptures.
