Narai Thai Restaurant Northcote

Disappointing. Food was lovely however service was focused more on take away than dining in. Restaurant was freezing and had to eat with coats on after asking twice for some heat to be turned on. Also tried to order coffee but apparently the machine wasn't working but it could have been due to only one person working in the restaurant area. Won't be coming back unfortunately.

Had a great time the food and the company was right up there. Couldn't ask for more, also not expensive

Absolutely beautiful red duck curry and wonderful owners, we used to live close and order regularly, now living far away we still return regularly because they are just that good

I am always apprehensive of ordering duck as takeaway as the flavours don't always translate well when you reheat the food at home. But the red duck curry I ordered from Narai Thai was really good even as a takeaway.

We come here often. Usually very good. But we got take away this week and it was below par. The Nam Zod had big chunks of meat and no spice. Looks like they used sweet chiili sauce. Red duck curry was good. Pad Thai was average. Beef satay was good. Ordered curry puffs, but we got veg spring rolls instead. Plus most of the food was luke warm. I’m concerned they have new owners or a new chef.

Everything Ive ordered from here has been delicious. Love the som tum salad with crab and their spring rolls.

Amazing food, they care for their customers. Would encourage family and friends to go or order. Reasonably priced too! Thank you, Narai Thai. Yum:)

One of the best Thai cuisine restaurants in the northern suburbs. That decor and the food area both excellent; little to complain about.

This restaurant makes the best Tom Yum soups in Melbourne. Most other dishes on the menu are also delicious. The staff, including the owner, Steve, are very friendly, provide excellent service and are very accommodating. The ambience is warm and inviting. It's a real neighbourhood gem. A must for any Thai food lovers.

Great food and a good place to eat with a couple of friends and share dishes. Was happy I came and ate here, chose somewhere I don't normally go.

Ordered via Menulog, stir-fry had no veg just onion. Tom yum was sweet not spicy, no ginger, no lemongrass and raw mushrooms.

Consistently great Thai food. Regardless of whether getting takeaway or eating here the food has always been good. Atmosphere is refreshing in that it is pleasantly calm and quiet when dining in.

Came here last night with my Indonesian wife and our 3 year old son. We don't get out much as we are new to Melbourne so we are still exploring restaurants. It was late so I checked to make sure it was still ok to come in and was told yes. The service was as expected, water, menu etc. From that moment on, it was as if we had offended the owner? And the waiter. We were ignored, I tried to make light jokes with our waiter about our son and him pretending he was ordering for himself from the menu and nothing, nothing but a blank stare. The other guy (owner, manager?) just stood around and said nothing to us the entire evening about ANYTHING AT ALL. I should point out that we were now, the ONLY PEOPLE in the restaurant after he had said goodnight to the other table of guests and did a kind of Thai hands together bow gesture and then turned off the air conditioner even though we were still in the restaurant! We ate our meals, both of which were delicious and generous. After that, my son tried time after time to speak with the waiter and the other guy and they just continued their private conversation with their backs to us and ignored him. At this point, my wife asked the young man if she could have her meal take away as she was so upset with what just happened to her son and was given 2 plastic containers and a plastic bag at the table to pack her dinner herself. What is with the people here in Melbourne? Is this normal? I'm not asking for a sit down conversation with people who work somewhere, just a hi, funny weather, how was your meal, oh you have a toy car that's nice, sort of communication would have been enough. Anyway the food was good, décor was Thai, the service was NON EXISTENT!

I’ve been a frequent visitor, either dining in or take away. The food seems to never disappoint! Entrees and main meals are tasty, however the service could be improved if waiters were attentive.

Other than that, I’m happy!

Always great quality food at this under appreciated restaurant. The owners (Aust.guy and his Thai wife) are attentive and welcoming. Duck curry is sublime.

An incredible place with emphasis on quality food and excellent service. This place has a wonderful ambience and staff that are incredibly attentive and accommodating. If you are wanting a night where you can enjoy great conversation and connection with your loved ones, this is the place to go. All elements lead to a perfect night out. With BYO wine option as well and a wonderful bottleshop next door, you can enjoy some special and unique wines to accompany the wonderful, authentic and hearty food.

We have eaten here a few times now and the food is always delicious. Plenty of gluten free options available.
