My Asian Neighbour reviews
38We saw that My Asian Neighbour came 2nd yesterday (8th July) in the World Food Championships held at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre! We have been to MAN a few times now and every time the food is just extraordinary - like a culinary flavour bomb to the taste senses. Highly recommend the Woku Ayam, Ikan Pepes or the RicaRica - but anything you choose is outstanding. The chef/owners Lilly and Wayne are just fabulous, friendly and gracious hosts. Don't think about it - just GO!
I love going to My Asian Neighbour. Lily welcomes every guest (and their dogs!) so warmly it’s like going into someone’s home for dinner rather than a restaurant. My dog is almost obsessed with MAN as I am, and likes to try to stick his head in the shop to say hi to Lily (and pinch a treat), before we head to the courtyard. I am completely obsessed with Lily’s Grandmas Crispy Spicy Omelette. It seems like such a simple dish on the surface but it just so beautifully balances the big bold spicy flavours with the delicate flavour and texture of a fluffy omelette and perfectly cooked rice. I can’t go there without ordering it. I’ve even tried recreating it at home, but nothing beats Lily’s! Oh and the roti! One serve is literally NEVER enough. The lemongrassy goodness in the satay sauce with the incredible roti is just so good.
Delicious food! Authentic indonesian taste! We were four of us and ordered like 7 dishes and all of them were delicious! Really worth trying this resto!
My Asian Neighbour run by Wayne and Lily is truly stunning! If you wish to experience beautiful Indonesian style food, you should not wait any longer, make a booking soon. Note that the locals know how good the food is, so be sure to make a booking, or be prepared for disappointment if you rock up without a booking. The menu has a great selection and if you are like us, keep returning and work your way through the menu. While Lily makes the magic with the food in the super busy kitchen, Wayne makes the magical Cocktails in the bar. My Asian Neighbour will not disappointment and you will be wanting to return after your first visit. We keep coming back again and again. We love My Asian Neighbour. All the very best to Lily, Wayne, Lee, Sula, and the whole team at MAN. All the very best from Jenny and Steve.xxxx.
Had a really great nasi goreng at this lovely little spot.
It's been a long time since I've had a decent nasi.
Maybe the best in melbs.
Small establishment with great ambience. Trams rambling past just add to the atmosphere. Worth booking.
I didn’t really fancy the food here. Tried it twice and found food to be slightly bland. I think in comparison to other Indonesian and Malaysian places, this one quite doesn’t meet the mark.
Food was delicious! Cosy vibe on a rainy day, lovely people working there made it a really nice experience. We will be back mannnnny times:)
Great Asian food. My first experience with Indonesian, super yum. Lovely staff and great personal touch from everyone including the owner.
Mantap! A word I used inside the restaurant, extremely warm customer service and the smell, the sauce, the juice, so yummy! It feels like indo Bali, despite of me not being there, so I said to myself "so this is how it feels to be in Bali", generous serving, you must try Babi, nice and juicy inside you. I will be back for more!
Amazing and authentic food, everytime we've been here we've been blown away by the flavor and quality of our meals. The vast amount of vegetarian options is greatly appreciated and they also have doggo treats! What more can you ask for! You can tell how much love the owners have put into this place.
Had a nice lunch at My Asian Neighbour, we had chicken satay, fritters, Ayam Woku & terung belado w rice, flavorful & portions good for 2 to share.
Why go far if I can find authentic Indonesia dishes just right as my neigbour Amazing dishes from different regions of Indonesia (Javanese, Balinese, etc.).
Delicious, enjoyable, warm casual ambience & friendly service (what more you could ask for) Totally worth of try yummm.yummm.yuuummmm.
Duck curry was delicious. Really nice steamed rice. Excellent chicken skewers. Can't wait to try more!
Being an asian myself, I am meticulous when it comes to tasting asian dishes. Well, it gives justice to genuine asian touch in their dishes. I like the idea that it has al fresco dining area with heater but some tables were wobbly and very small if 2 people ordered 2-3 meal each. The food, however, will make you forget this little uncomfortability. The waiting time was longer than the average. The staff were friendly; I heard one staff talking to some foodlovers treating them friendly like real neighbours.
Just moved to the area and My Asian Neighbour is definitely a new favourite! I went here for dinner with my sister and everything we tried was absolutely delicious, in particular the Prawn Woku. My dog was also spoilt with pats and a pupcake. It’s now his favourite place to visit too!
Great neighbourhood find that we finally got around to trying. Best beef rendang I've had in Melbourne. Will defs come back for more.
Such a gem to have in the neighbourhood. The best roti, satay and rendang I’ve ever had in Melbourne! Lovely restaurant, owners and staff. Very highly recommend
