Murphy's Newsagency reviews
6 Unfortunately, since selling the old store and relocating across the road, the business is now nothing but a Tatts outlet with a range of greeting cards, some token gifts and a couple of newspapers. The extensive range of magazines and publications is gone.
Such a shame that probably Geelong's best newsagancy is no more!
Murphy's used to be a fantastic newsagency for many years with a wide range of magazines, papers etc & great staff. However since relocating, it has just become a glorified gambling outlet focusing on tats tickets and virtually no magazines, limited papers & limited opening hours. Very disappointed. A sign of the times I guess.
The place to go for a large range of magazines including some niches. Also a large selection of cards and gift bags/wrap. Staff are friendly and layout is good. Didn't notice an area for buying envelopes or parcel satchels but might have missed it.
One thing I noticed was it was hard or impossible to find Christmas card packs that contained more than one design. Makes a little difficult if you're sending cards to individual family members! That's just a preference but if you're like me keep that in mind.
Good selection of gift cards & reading material. Plenty of nearby parking.
Great, clean newsagency with such a huge variety of products and more magazines than I have ever seen.
I had to pick up a parcel here, I found that very amusing. From what I can see it's a pretty decent newsagency which has taken on a bit of everything. The staff are nice and friendly, the layout is very clean, all in all it was a positive experience. Only negatives I could say is that maybe they need a tad more training on some of the stuff they do, on my visit I had the be served by about three people at the same time because they weren't 100% about what they needed to. That and parking sucked but that's more the area in general and not their fault. Plus there is a big carpark accross the road but that doesn't help when you have to leave carrying a big heavy parcel! Would visit again. If I had another parcel there.
