Munro & Sargeant Café reviews
9Lunch was delicious, we had calamari with salad & onion rings, it was beautiful. Great view of the lake, good staff, good coffee & carrot cake, clean and very pleasant. A step up from the norm. Will be back.
Everything about this wonderful little cafe is perfect, the atmosphere is so welcoming and calming and the people here are so kind.
Spacious and pleasant restaurant located in the art gallery. The menu is both interesting and varied. Service excellent and the food very good. They also do a range of unusual soft drinks and smoothies.
Where to start?
Poor Samantha, whilst they may have put in my 'long mac' as a 'long black' i don't hold that against them. I only know Samantha's name as someone swung out of the back and yelled at them as I was paying. I don't know what you did Samantha but I hope you don't get yelled at often there. Samantha, one of these two stars from my rating goes to you.
$2.5 for an extra plate - seriously? You're charging people for this, i had to include a photo of the menu; lest people not believe me.
I had the fish and chips. Or rather some potato scallop/bear paw as seen. Worth $31, you decide.
The $8.50 milkshake, which alas was not included in the photo lineup was a lovely glass of milk with what was the undeniable taste of vanilla syrup squirted in. Save yourself the cost.
The wildlife play an active part in helping clean the leftovers from patrons. I wouldn't be surprised if I were to return sometime in the future to see a name badge on the crows.
5 out of 5 for the vista.
Be warned the locals are noisy. Some lovely member of public, out for a stroll beneath us decided to let out a, "Oi C*NT". Hopefully a known acquaintance. I didn't decide to take a photo of them.
The second and last star goes to what can only be summed up as a unique and unforgettable dining experience for none of the right reasons.
What a fantastic location, wedged between the river and the botanical gardens!
I ordered the vegetarian burger with deep fried battered eggplant which was the size of a mountain and very decadent. The nachos were very good too.
Unfortunately, can't wreath alcolades on the coffee.
Despite hearing several mixed reviews we decided to try it for ourselves…the most awful service ever received. The male staff member was the only one that looked like he actually wanted to be there, morose, unfriendly staff. Poor service, cold food, burnt coffee. The manager is exceptionally rude…. Filthy greasy tables… food all over the floor. Moral of the story is when told it’s terrible, take note. It’s TERRIBLE
Best coffee ever! Kelly made mine an my partners coffee an it was wonderful great service from the team an lovely atmosphere too, highly recommended.
Used to be really good but past few weeks or so the service and food is awful have you lost one of the chef's or something recently? If you have get them back! Won't be back until they are
Fantastic little cafe hidden away in the heart of Benalla's art gallery. Amazing views overlooking the lake, and great food and coffee. Definitely recommend if you're in town!
