Mt Baw Baw Winter Guest Services reviews
56Fantastic day out and well worth the drive from Melbourne. Very easy access to parking and toboggan area for the kids). Cross country skiing and downhill are available. There are two main eating shops and bbq and warm eating area.
Really disappointed, no real weather condition mentioned in the website, there was no snow at all and you must need chain… just pay for everything but no service at all
So much snow this weekend thanks to a huge fall on Friday. No crowds and lots of fun for kids and adults. No lifts running or ski hire on the mountain. But there’s still hot food and drinks at the village.
Fantastic experience loved it, if timed right it's a great place for the family to spend hours doing activities or a casual stole around.
I love this place - an excellent get away. Gets busy and exciting. And offers lovely outdoor experiences - recent trip was with limited snow but this offered excellent bushwalks on tracks that I as child wld ski by cross country skiing
One or 2 runs were avtive while I was there and downhill skiiers and snowbowrders were enjoying it, also the tobogoning run was getting regular use - lots of fun
When you're out in snow use common sense, good planning and look after yourself and others in your group.
The accommodation we stayed at was superb
Got there a bit late (September first week) so no snow except some artificial stuff that covers max 2 sizes of football pitches area. But, good enough for kids to have fun, although not for adults. Totally agree with the entrance fee for park maintenance and essential services.
But it was super sunny, still had to pay for chains just to put them inside the boot during the entire day. It is okay for safety, but it would be super practical if they provide hire service at the entrance down there on snow days or possible weathers and also village park on sunny days in case of weather changes without making it compulsory to rent it at the entrance gate everyday. So people do not feel bad or unnecessary fees to enjoy the park.
We wanted to hit the highway asap and choose the other side/ South Face Road and enjoy that part of the road as well. That was the worst idea of the trip, as the entire road is really not suitable for even AWD with all weather tyres as the whole road is filled with mortars and not carpeted/ sealed upto Thomson Valley Rd all the way. Honestly, not worthy to check the whole other side whatever it shows on the map. Go back through the Baw Baw Tourist Rd even though it is longer.
Cheers.
I don't like it at all.
Even though there was less snow the tabbogan area was not maintained.
Also the ticket of tabbogan area bit expensive compare to other mountains.
There were no wide range of free activities everything have tickets and pre booking required.
Ripped off $62 for entry per car. Had to pay $39 for chains and there was no snow or ice on the road
Very difficult drive up the mountain. Roads need to be improved considering the amount of money and revenue that this place generates and Parks Victoria does not seem to want to spend the time nor money to improve the roads.
Works should be carried out in off season?
Little bit disappointing, snow was very minimal.
Our family was at Mt BawBaw yesterday. What a terrible trip after years of not visiting. I can't believe everything is so bad now, from high entrance fee, weak management, poor service. It took me almost 3 hours to get there and my kids only had 1 hour for playing toboggan and then had to come back because it was late. Dont go to Mt Bawbaw, it just ruins your day. Never comeback
A great place to stay over the winter. Plenty of snow activities and some OK places to eat at. Depends on snow cover and weather
It was a disappointing experience as there was some confusion with the toboggan run. We bought magic carpet lift for the family only to find the Frosti Frog run was closed. Contacted the management and were told it was opened but on the other side. We missed the fine print when purchasing the pass thinking the barcode was the ticket, which we should have gone to the office to exchange for tag. Even so, the distance to the opened toboggan run was actually 3x walking distance of Frosti Frog. Carrying 5 toboggan with impatient kids doesn’t help. Suggested to them to make a sign for the opened toboggan run instead.
Mt Baw Baw only had T-Bar, no lift. There are place to rent all your equipments in the village too. Perfect place for those who seek to do some low budget day trip or Ski.
This resort has gone downhill big time over the years. A group of us buy a season pass every year, but this year we have barely gone up cause half the mountain has been closed most of the season. And now we are into spring they are only opening 1 run yet they have coverage over all the runs?
I don’t understand what their business strategy is, but keeping 80% of the runs closed for a majority of the season isn’t going to entice people to visit & spend money.
Unfortunately come next season, will be the first year in a long time we won’t be taking up a season pass. It’s just not worth your money to be able to use it so little.
We normally make 10-15 trips up per season, this year we have made 5. Would have been cheaper for us to just buy day passes each time.
Such a shame cause while this resort is small in comparison to the other big mountains, Baw Baws runs have personality & while short, lots of fun. (When more than 1 run is open)
Very nice experience coming here. The people are lovely and helpful. Perfect for beginners.
Fun experience but very expensive.
Cafe had nice chips but again crazy pricing!
Wish there was a bit more space that you could sit around and build snowmen or have snowball fights, very crowded small space.
Look it’s not Mt Buller or Mt Hotham but it’s not trying to be either. Good fun little mountain that the whole family can enjoy. Kids learning to ride is the main target market here but parents can have some fun as well.
Staff were exceptional!
Good place for someone wanted to learn ski and snowboarding. If you looking for more extreme or challenging hill, this is not recommended.
Seems be better this year, probably because of the heavy snow. Does get packed. Food options are simple and gets packed during peak hour, kinda pricey and fairly average but to be expected. Get in early to avoid 2wd cars with chains. No issues climbing up the hill with the 80 series. Worth a visit.
It is a nice place for those who are into skiing and snow boarding. Not much to do for the rest though. Tabogganing facility is rather small and boring.
