Mr.Chef Dumpling

Clean, affordable and fresh food.

The pork dumplings were mild but juicy - the cabbage was still crunchy. I didn't eat the noodles but I was told that the broth was fatty and the serving generous.

I found the restaurant spotless and airy.

I am not one to leave negative reviews that puts small businesses at risk. But this is an exception. Unfortunately they gave me the wrong order. When I called back the response was not sufficiently sincere and shrugged off as being due to being busy.

Picked up the order and took the wrong order back after being asked to bring it back (not good practice to take food back once it’s out of the store).

It felt as if the dumplings were simply microwaved to reheat (instead of fresh offerings) because the skins were like chewing on tough leather.

Despite the experience, both the front house team (including one who made the inadvertent error) were nice and pleasant to deal with. Perhaps the store manager or owner has a hard line policy that unfortunately looks at short term profits over long term customer retention.

So I won’t be returning to satisfy those occasional takeout cravings.

Lovely little place to get lunch, absolutely love the dumplings, great amount of them too. Service was prompt and friendly.

I come here frequently and have tried pretty much all the dish for individual person, all are good. Reasonably priced.

Ordered takeout, the dumplings were amazing (both pork and vegetarian), and the service was super quick.

Honestly I the best dumplings in Melbourne! Always tasty and food comes out quickly. Restaurant is clean and tidy and very affordable too.

What a beauty! Feels good to eat dumplings to be a dumpling. The fried ones here are really nice but are quite hot when they come out. Xiaolongbaos were really nice on the night as well, can be a bit burny but give it some time. Would be here again, well done Mr. Chef

A fairly typical dumpling place. Can’t fault the dumplings. No reason not to recommend.
Never saw Mr Chef, assume he was out the back, only staff we saw were female!

Terrible food and service. We where the first customers in the shop at 5.30pm and the first to order, dishes came out at different times one person waited 30 mins for their dish while there others on the table finished their meal. Drinks were not brought to the table.
The food was the worst part. Meat was dry, chicken tastless and oily, rice was bland.
Waste of money, time and felt sick afterwards.

Food is pleasant and presented well but nothing more than you would expect of similar dumpling shops.

Would have rated higher but on multiple occasions received poor customer service and the general cleanliness of the place which included dirty tables and slippery floors.

Beware. Cold soup dumplings was served. Even after "reheating", family was ill for the evening.

When the name of the restaurant had dumpling you hope at least the dumpling will be good. Had to throw away all the dumpling we took.

I like the steam mini bums. And the chili won ton is not bad as well. The pork dumplings are good too. The spring roll comes with crispy pastry outside and juicy vegetables inside.

One of worst chinese takeaway I've been for years. Special fried rice uses frozen pea, carrot, corn packet. Fried kew teow uses thick udon like noodle & frozen fish ball, and frozen old shrimp. Never again.

Absolutely love this place. I always come with my two young sons. Place is clean, service is great and the dumplings are always awesome. Highly recommend.

Pan fried beef dumplings had burnt bits stuck to them which gave them bitter flavor. Filling was not particularly flavorful or juicy.

Gave me 19.60 bill and took 50 cents extra without informing me prior. Food is delicious, but the customer service (of the lady standing at the counter) can be better. Words like sorry or just a smile would suffice rather than a plain face

The food is so delicious and but we got a Salted Fish and Chicken Fried Rice and they used off brown lettuce and it really put me off. The lettuce was proper brown and wilted it was so disappointing! Everything else was good except that!

It’s a rip off the restaurant has increased the food price extra $1. Saying the cost of veg and meat all expensive. Looks like the cost of veg and meat remain same. Don’t go

Food is good with spacious seating. I always feel like the tables need to be bigger or serving dishes need to be changed because table space seems a bit tight when ordering several dishes
