MPavilion reviews
8Easy access. There is a mobile ice cream parlor inside. To spend a few minutes near the botanical and skate park.
Highly disappointed! Travelled all the way long from south east to city only to know that it was closed! Been there at around 6: 15 pm to see that it was cordoned with mere sticks and strings with two guards inside the pavilion having a blast with music on! Really? Online says it’s open for 24 hours but it doesn’t seem so tbh! I was told it closes at 4: 00 pm. I wish the website had correct info!
Cool structure and reflecting mirrors! The chairs are connecting puzzles and the yellow colour gives it a nice touch in contrast with the green of the park
Handy little area to grab a coffee, tiny jigsaw shape benches and tables. Coffee was good, the structure was eye catching.
What is this? Lame! 0 form, 0 function.
Can you take it down please? It’s ruining my view of the lovely botanic gardens. Waste of space, time and money.
Terrible design and the worst yet. Open in November 2021…there is no shade from the sun; no shelter from the rain; no comfortable seating for socialising and no tables for drinks. It lacks character and any practical function that allows social gatherings. Previous years have seen wonderful designs effectively mix both function and form. This year we have an ugly monstrosity where you can’t even sit comfortably. Suggest you take your own chair, table and umbrella. Better yet… head to the beach!
“MPavilion is an innovative civic space, a cultural laboratory for the community to engage and share, and a bold architecture commission for Australia. ” This place always looks really cool passing it, seeing the development to what it becomes. It holds a series of free talks, workshops, performances and installations.
Architecture students would be very happy to see this structure by Glen Murcutt (Pritzker winner)
