Outstanding natural scenery of tall forests, lush rainforest, tumbling waters and interesting trails to explore on mountain bike. Mount Buangor, often looked at from afar as one travels at speed along the freeway, has a very real feeling of remoteness to it, beginning the moment one turns off the Western Freeway onto a dusty gravel road that progressively narrows and climbs into the verdant forested hills. It takes a while to locate the main picnic area to Waterfalls Walk, but once there, you have a feeling of being the only person there (as I was indeed!). Small wooden hut for shelter. Dispersed camping sites (require booking with Parks Victoria). No phone reception. BYO water.

Little by name, big by beauty, bit eeerie and quiet. You can climb the peak of the the Pyrenees on Buangor on west side or east, or drive up Lookout Mountain in mt.cole SF.
Parks Victoria could sign things better too.

A close to two hour drive to get here. The view of the waterfall is not great but it’s beautiful. Not a wheelchair/pram friendly walk. Lots of camping grounds and toilets along the way. Streams of water throughout the walk.

Big open sites on level ground with long drop toilet nearby. Fire pits and tables and chairs located at each campsite. Easy access with 2WD. Plenty of Wildlife and beautiful trees. Make sure you book your campsite in advance as that is a requirement. No dogs allowed and no drinking water available.

Wonderful state park to visit. The amenities and camp sites at middle creak were clean. There were a few caravans / pop tops. We just bought the tent and had a lovely relaxing weekend away from the world. The waterfall is a short drive and then small walk from middle creek and 100% worth the trip. Wads lovely to sit in the cool water on a 35degree day.

Fantastic park with great camping sites. The waterfall is incredibly refreshing and a lovely spot to visit without much trouble. Great walks and lots of wildlife intertwined through the picturesque natural scenery.

Fantastic park. Walks are quite strenuous and the trail can be hard to follow but the cave is fabulous, the views stunning and the Cascades wonderful. Well worth a visit.

Beautiful scenery with great variety. Pretty steep tracks up and down, so it can be a bit of a challenge. Unfortunately we had a lot of smoke in the air, but otherwise great views.

Camped at Middle Creek, which was quiet and well-maintained. The fireplace inside the hut was great, especially since it was unseasonably cold. Only minor complaint is that some of the trails up to Mount Buangor were quite overgrown, but perhaps that's the price you pay for taking the road less travelled. Most people in the area would probably go to the Grampians, but this is a pleasant Plan B or side trip.

Some really hood trails. Some very steep and difficult. Make sure you check maps before heading out.
The full circuit is a great hike and suggest doing the 20km in and clockwise direction starting at raglan falls.
If you would like to see the cave I suggest doing the 7km loop if you want a little challenge and again complete in a clockwise direction and you will finish near the cave rather than see it at the start of the walk. Be warned the cave section is very steep!

Went on a day trip with friends in the month of July. Amazing place for hiking. Recent rains had enriched the greens. Was a pleasant day with no rains but was very windy.
Started our hike from Ferntree visitor area & Picnic ground. We quickly completed
Waterfalls Nature Walk
Grade: Easy / Moderate
Distance: 1km
Time: 45min return
Start: Ferntree Visitor Area

The water falls is pretty close from the car park & is a easy walk. The next level was cascade water falls. Which is a small walk upwards. Spend bit of time there & With pretty high energy still in the body decided to cover Mount Sugarloaf Circuit
Grade: Moderate / Hard
Track: Rocky / Steep
Distance: 8.9km
Time: 3hr 30min return
Start: Ferntree Visitor

The walk was pretty moderate to hard. We went all the way till Snowgum lookout & somehow couldn’t find the circuit towards car park. The map online was showing a 30 min track but we weren’t convinced to take that route. If we had continued further from snowgum lookout, we were getting linked to beerripmo walk which would have taken hours to reach car park.
Considering it might be sunset soon, we decided to head back the same way we came.
Although we couldn’t finish the circuit, we came back with lot of memories & and few good photographs.

Really good place, some tough track obsticles though manly large fallen trees that are slippery.
Also if leeches aren't your thing there's a lot of them.
Other than that very pretty with some solid hikes and scenery.

Toilets, fire pits and camping spots are well looked after. Pretty place to camp. A few walking tracks to choose from with water falls and a small creek. Watch out for leaches near the water and snakes when its hot. We didn't have phone reception.
