Morris and Sons reviews
16This is akin to paradise for knitter/crocheters; there are wools, yarns and threads of all types, in all colours, weights and materials possible. The stock of tools and equipment matches this variety though it should be noted that there are few crochet hook brands in stock and those present are expensive for what they are. It’s a bit hard to find but worth giving a visit.
Yarn enthusiasts like me are probably already familiar with Morris and Sons. It’s the only big yarn store in the CBD. This shop is my go to stop for their large range of in house brand yarn. They also stock Rowan and Manos del Uruguay as well as Regia sock yarn and KnitPro needles and accessories.
Good range of products but service is atrocious! The staff who ARE nice don't have alot of product knowledge and the rest of them are just plain rude (1-2stars)! - 2018. In 2022 however, things have certainly changed! The product knowledge now matches the extensive range and is only surpassed by service. We'll done, MORRIS and SONS on turning things around so well! I took your advice, gave you another try and was floored by the difference (5stars)!
Very ordinary experience ordered a zing circular for sock knitting when it arrived cable kinked + I use it as a barber cord to try on my top down projects waste of money
It's a great yarn shop for sure but the service is pretty poor. I was all the way from Adelaide to looking for buy some yran where I can not find in Adelaide. But No one come to assist at all. No greeting / good bye when we walking in /out. Very much disappointed, and of course I won't spend any cents in this sorts service.
Ever walked into a store, thought “I’m easily going to purchase $500 worth of yarn today” from a huge range of incredible colours, politely attempted to get the attention of staff, then left, completely ignored… not once, twice, but persevered on 3 separate visits?
Often with more staff than customers, asking for help only to watch staff scamper behind the counter to hide behind their phones or start a “let’s look busy” private conversation is the biggest let down to this store. Sure it’s pricey. Sure it’s great quality, but even if you beg for some assistance, the staff just don’t care to engage with customers. Honestly, I want to go in and be inspired to create amazing crafts.
Quite possibly the greatest yarn store in Australia. Incredible range of yarns to suit all budgets, in basic to lux fibres. Staff are always happy to assist, whether its for recommendations, substitutions or help with choosing colours which always comes in handy as you will get choice paralysis!
Zoe was particularly helpful, locating a discontinued line at another store and arranging shipping. I spoke with her, midday Friday and had the order to country Queensland on Monday. Thank you
Placing an order with the Collins St store Doris could not have been more helpful, She tracked down the colours I wanted and gave me really helpful advice about circular needle points. My parcel arrived within the week of ordering. Doris made the shopping experience very enjoyable and a good reason to shop here in the furure.
Lovely little knitting shop in Richmond. Young guy behind the counter was very knowledgeable and helped me translate my pattern
Absolutely love this shop. Amazing range and great prices. Staff are also super lovely and happy to help out with ideas for projects. Also great that they have their whole range online.
Beautiful fabrics and yarn. Did the knitting class and loved it. Amy is a wonderful patient teacher. So many gorgeous projects too.
A great place to shop for a miscellaneous craft items such as wool yarns and knitting needles, fabrics and embroidery threads, and many others items you may not even know you need.
Really chill place, with staff that would be at home knitting if they didn't work there.
The knitting gear is really high quality, makes learning so much easier.
I love this store to tiny bits! Anyone who complains about service must either a) have never before been to a busy store in the heart of the CBD/had to have waited for more than 0.2 seconds for service or b) been extremely rude to start with.
The staff have always been nothing but polite and helpful to myself and anyone else I know who goes here. Several times different staff have gone above and beyond to assist me and I have witnessed them go to extraordinary lengths for other customers.
Lovely ranges of wool, supplies and now even fabrics, an amazing FREE membership program for frequent crafters and awesome sales.
Thank you all the staff - you're gems!
