Mornington Racecourse reviews
35 Old style, clean and nice place for family/friendly party. Even on Race meeting day it’s really good for getting family with you. Parking spaces are huge for parking own flying soccer, I mean it’s really good.
Great staff with nice food.
Biggest bestest market I've been too. Even better than the Queen Victoria market.
Only reason to go there
One electric day at the racecourse- expensive drinks, great souvlaki, and a really fun crowd who managed to make me look like a youngster. Overall a great time despite the weather.
No bubbly. Expensive food and drinks. Very little food options - ie lots of junk food - Coffee van had no signage re order and pay then pick up
The only reason I come here is to see concerts. One day I will check out the nags but when good rock and roll is on offer, this is a great venue.
Some advice for newbies: -
Get to the gates a bit early
When gates open bolt for the big tree closest to the stage
Under the tree you will find shade or as our group found the other soggy day, some protection from the downpour.
Take a fat wallet with you
And rock on sisters brothers and all others
Fantastic market with a wide range of goods and boutique food. Advisable to get there early like at opening at 9.00am.
Went to Sunday markets and found it a bit disappointing, not as many stalls or variety of products.
Went to the market here, nice market but a little too repetitive stall after stall. If this variance is rectified this market will be more of a destination in future
Plenty of Carabans, full tracks and everything that you could need for an adventure or holidays
In members area, shortage of tables and chairs. Variety of food very poor. Biggest day of their racing season and left a bit to be desired
Brilliant service from start to finish in the Neds Corporate suite at Mornington Racecourse. Food and service were first class. Highly Recommended.
Great day out, beautiful setting under either the umbrella's, picnic table willow tree or simply put a picnic blanket down.
Went for a music festival. Not much shade and prices seemed higher than necessary. Was still a good time and the sound quality was good
First time here, travelling down from Melbourne. Typical Sports Stadium/Racecourse style venue with a very long, fairly narrow room with floor to ceiling windows giving sweeping views down to the track. The venue is stylish and functional with simple decor.
Staff were very friendly and helpful with our requests and the food was nicely plated and tasty. The long, narrow room I was in was on the first floor, reachable via escalators or a lift.
My only issue with Mornington Racecourse was access.
We had a lot of heavy equipment to bring in with trolleys and we were told access was from the dirt carpark, through a locked access gate with no security person or intercom system to call for assistance, a good 100 metre hike from the actual entrance, in inclement weather.
After some discussion we were allowed access to bump in, and were told we had to return our vehicles back to the general carpark meaning an additional at least half an hour on bump in and the same on bump out, when of course, late at night it was raining.
So hiking out to the carpark after a long day, in the rain, so we could bring are cars back in was an enjoyable (NOT!) experience.
The undercover portico area near the entrance was bollarded off, so loading up into our vehicles also had to be done in the rain.
By the end, we were quite damp.
I'm not blaming staff, apparently these are the "rules". However there was ample parking, out of the way of the entrance, with other cars parked, much closer to the venue than where we were directed to park in the boondocks.
This is not something I've found at most other Racecourse venues in Melbourne, including Moonee Valley, Sandown, Caufield, Flemington etc. A major negative and something you should consider if you are planning an event here.
Very inspiring place bring you snacks and bestie and watch those beautiful horses running in the track
Great venue, caters directly to your event demand and has fantastic attentive staff to make your day special
Outstanding. The J Kah and Clayton Douglas train roles on. Two delightful people living the time of their life. Go them
Great place to watch the races with a fantastic deck and lawn areas and we'll a great members and sit down dining options. Only issue was the only food outlet at the back of the grandstand. Long queues and slow service caused entirely by the most convoluted quadruple or triple handling of a single order I've ever witnessed. No consultants needed to fix this however, any 12 year old promised a free pie could come up with a better system after 5 minutes watching this lot.
3.5 location. This is a great place for a relaxing day.
They take good care of the punter.
You can see the horses up close.
Plenty of space and seating for everyone, from plush grass to a variety of tables or seating.
The stock controller has to work on supply and demand.
Public transport is about a 9 minute walk away.
Today was the boat caravan and camping show. Was a great day plenty to see and admire and dream about
