I am a patient at Rosebud Medical Clinic and last week, myself and my wife had a booked appointment with our GP of 30 years. We received a phone call the day before that our GP was ill, and that a temporary, Dr Rany Rizk, would be seeing our GP's patients.
We were met by Dr Rizk who is strangely insistent that all patients do some sort of weird elbow bump with him. I had watched the uncomfortable looks on the faces of the previous three patients while waiting.

But that was about the end of the niceties with Rizk. I have spinal damage and I am a disability pensioner. I am on opioid based pain killers and as such require a medication permit to be approved by 2 doctors, one of whom must be a qualified pain specialist. My pain specialist is director of medicine at a South Eastern private hospital and is very respected in his field. Between my GP and the specialist would be 60+ years of experience.

But enter Rizk, who clearly has an aversion to pain killers or possibly anything too hard. He started by claiming I am on the wrong dose and then spent time inputting things in to his mobile phone and announced I should be on 55-60 mg's a day and not 80mgs. That is quite an achievement not knowing my medical history and it would seem the calculation required an input of height and weight. Either Rizk is psychic, or was taking guesses, but he was quite determined that he knew best as he told me, "I have been doing this for 12 years". Doing what for 12 years I am unsure.
He stated that he would not be prescribing the dose on my permit that I have been receiving for the last 18 months. I said ok, I will have the amount you are saying I should have. I could not be bothered arguing with him. Rizk then bizarrely stated that he was not going to prescribe me anything at all.
I advised him that if that was the case I would start suffering extreme severe withdrawal symptoms. Rizk simply didn't care. In his own words " Go and find someone else to prescribe it, I am not prescribing it".

My wife advised Rizk that she had major abdominal surgery 2 weeks prior and that she thought her belly button was infected. As it had a dressing on it (a stick on bandage over it) Rizk stated that was "not his job" and printed out a piece of paper and said take it to reception a nurse can deal with it.

By now, we had had enough of the disgusting manner in which we were being treated by this individual. I was forced to have a conversation at reception, not the most private of places to want to talk about your private health matters, to ask them to try and get me an appointment with another doctor. One of the receptionists went out of her way to help me out when I explained the urgency and nature of the matter, and I went back that afternoon to see another doctor. What a breath of fresh air Dr Tom Heaney was after my previous dealing.

I did note that while I was waiting to see Dr Heaney that Rizk had "elbow bumped" about 4 people in 20 minutes in to his office. I believe he came to the Rosebud Clinic to make as much money as possible for himself in the smallest possible time.

After much discomfort, my wife had a swab taken from her belly button days later when our GP returned which was sent to pathology to be analysed and days later it revealed a bad infection which required medication. This was something that Rizk said was "Not my problem".

Rany Rizk is one of the worst doctors I have ever come across. His duty of care borders on zero. Despite me being on the same medication and dosage for 18 months he was happy to have me go in to severe withdrawals which at my age (I am closer to 60 than 50) I would consider dangerous. His rudeness, arrogance and high opinion of himself are without boundary. His refusal to look at my wife's badly infected belly button defies the point of being a doctor as does his refusal to dispense a legal script. We were polite and respectful at all times, Rizk was not and in my opinion grossly failed in his duty of care as a doctor. I would not recommend him to anyone.

We have been attending mooroolbark super clinic since my wife fell pregnant with our now 5 year old daughter. In this time we have lucked in and found the most amazing doctor in Dr Rany Rizk.
Dr Rany always has the time for me, my wife, son and daughter.no issue is to small and always has made time for us, never rushing us and always giving us excellent medical advice.
We are so thankful for Dr Rany, even moving to now Boronia we still attend this clinic to see Dr Rany.

Everyone in the area knows the service here is poor at best but puts up with it in order to see a doctor, waiting over an hour past your booked appointment is a regular occurrence. But today took the cake, when I arrived for an appointment booked over the phone I was told that it was cancelled, with no notification because I had not replied to a confirmation text. No confirmation text was ever received! Since when is picking up the phone to book an appointment not enough? The receptionists attitude of "don't shoot the messenger" was appauling. This clinic doesn't even bulk bill anymore so you even get to pay out of pocket for this dismal experience! What a way to treat people who are coming in for help when they're sick.

I’ve been going to this clinic for about six years and seen Dr Rany. I have to say he is one the most knowledgeable Dr’s I’ve ever came across yet he’s humble very personable positive. Just makes me feel safe and in good hands no matter how unwell I turn up.
The administrative team is also very helpful and professional.

I needed a last minute appointment on a Sunday evening, & was informed there was only walk-ins available with 1 Dr on. I thought this was going to be the worst. However Dr Rani was one of the nicest GPs I have seen. He was quick but also showed genuine interests in his patients which you could tell even from the waiting room.
Very pleasantly surprised and cannot fault Dr Rani. Thankyou

I can’t recommend this place enough. I’ve seen a few different doctors and all of them are wonderful! They take their time and actually care about the patients. My family also love the nurses and reception staff, they’re always so happy and understanding.

I have found the staff of this medical centre to be absolutely wonderful & caring. I’ve twice visited with sick kids & they have always tried hard to accommodate us. Dr Rany Rizk is fantastic. Would highly recommend.

I have always felt well cared for here. I have seen multiple doctors in the clinic and have been impressed with all of them. Genuine care, personal connection and practical directions given. Easy online bookings, good availability and rarely long waits. Pathology on-site makes things easy too.

No response to a previous complaint email sent due to a horrible experience with a female doctor. My partner then came to an appointment and it was automatically unbooked as they said we didnt reply to a text we never got. Would not reccomend.

I was misdiagnosed as having a sinus infection, when in actual fact it was a serious eye infection which could have jeopardised my sight if not treated promptly and correctly, which it was.later that night after being sent via ambulance to the Eye & Ear Hospital!
I was also told to immediately stop taking an antibiotic which had been prescribed by a surgeon, and given a prescription for two different antibiotics, one of which I had already advised I was severely allergic to. Luckily, I ignored this, but not before being charged a fee for all of this incorrect "advice". I won't be back.

A Clinic that cancels the appointment you made, if you don't respond to a text message. You have to confirm when you make the appointment, again the day before and again 2 hours before-hand. "Because we've had some no-shows" perhaps you have had no-shows because you constantly bother people, just to have them wait for 2 hours anyway, IF you don't cancel it. You expect people to constantly confirm their appointment, but you don't show ANY courtesy and will cancel that appointment WITHOUT NOTICE, because the Doctor isn't in. Incompetence and rude staff are why you have no-shows in the first place.

I was approved for a Telehealth appointment to find out test results, however, the doctor cancelled and they said no other doctor would provide a phone appointment. I am now unable to get my test results because I cannot have an in-person appointment due to my work schedule. What an absolute waste of money to get the tests in the first place, as they’re now a mixed-billing clinic.

I wanted to praise the admin staff member I spoke to today. She was absolutely lovely and explained that all appointments were booked but my son could be a 'walk in'. I was quite stressed as I was worried he has tonsillitis and needed antibiotics. She explained the fees, rebates and wait times clearly. I then had to call back and advise my son just tested positive to Covid. She went through the process with me and assured me that he would be looked after via telehealth and that 'everything can be figured out' someway. I have recently found medical admin in a number of other clinics to be lacking in customer service but I felt the staff member today was fantastic. I wish I could remember her name but thank you! We ended up getting into the Covid Respiratory Clinic for an in-person appointment but will definitely be back to this clinic in future.

I have been seeing the same doctor here for years, I have put up with reception staff’s superiority complex and general rudeness because it was bulk billing. Now that this clinic is no longer bulk billing I will NOT be paying for the privilege of being ignored and then eventually treated badly by the staff at the reception desk, and then waiting for over an hour sometimes almost 2 to finally get my appointment. This is quite upsetting as I will now have to find a new Doctor after 15 years.

My gp has been Dr Hamed Derakhshani for nearly 10 years. I can't recommend him enough! He is a wonderful doctor.

Appointments are right on time compared to other clinics and the service provided by the doctors has been terrific over the years.

Also, visiting today, the front desk staff were lovely and even shared a bit of a joke.thank you ladies

Not good clinic to go, and I waited 30 minutes to see the unhappy, no smile on doctor, Femi, Adejlala, not by my choice but was no other choice & he attended me less than 5 mins. What a rip-off with medi-care. I won't go back to see that doctor.

I used to be a regular patient here but not any more. It’s always quite difficult to get a real human from them to talk to me over the phone. I requested them to transfer my medical records to my nominated clinic - it’s been almost two months they still couldn’t do it. I paid as requested and they just couldn’t care less if there’s any urgent matter happening due to their delay in transferring medical records and scanning results.
