Moonlight Cinema Melbourne reviews
88I saw Clueless last night after Barbie was washed out this weekend. What an experience! Everyone from the MC staff to those representing the sponsors were truly lovely. I honestly expected to be uncomfortable given my issues with chronic pain, but with their fabulous beanbags I was comfy as hell. Really, I just didn't want to move when the movie ended. Want a hot tip? Aerogard. I can't wait to watch another modern classic on that big blow up screen again.
Appalling customer service. Company happy to take money 2 days prior and then cancel the new release movie we had booked for hours before (for apparently adverse weather - which was not accurate). No further screenings of the movie we wanted to see, and they refuse to refund money, stating we must either choose a different movie (all options are much older movies) or give our tickets to someone else. Horrendous company to deal with.
Great place to take the family. It was cosey and chill. Just don't forget to pack a blanket as it gets cold
A great experience, would definetly do again. It is important if you do attend the Moonlight Cinema, that you should arrive early to ensure you get great seats!
Moonlight cinema are difficult and inflexible to deal with. The company cancelled the movie we wanted to see because they said it was going to be too hot! We only wanted to see that one movie, which was not being shown again. Moonlight Cinema refused us a refund. I had booked on the Saturday afternoon, on the day of the movie, because it was going to be hot. The company knew the expected temperature for that day, but still took my booking and money. They then insisted that the tickets could only be exchanged for another movie. Poor business model. I suggest that you think twice about booking in advance with this company.
It is a fun thing to do on a summer’s evening.
Saw Banshees of Inisherin.
There was a glitch midway through the film when the screen went black but they got it up and running again quickly.
Make sure you bring comfy seating because you are sitting still for a couple of hours. The provided lounges look really comfy and will do a better job of keeping your back warm than any camp chair will do.
It does cool down after sunset so bring a rug and dress warmly…even though the days are hot, the nights are not.
Get there around 7: 00 to get the best spot if you are BYO-ing your own seating.
The women’s loo queue is long just before the screening begins. My tip is to jump the queue into the empty men’s loo.
Loved the experience.
Watching a film in outdoors is awesome.
Food service was so bad.
Do not book tickets here if you are staying as an international guest in Melbourne. We bought 4 tickets to the value of over $200 on golden grass. Weather was perfect and the night was cancelled and they would not refund our tickets! So $200 down the drain!
Very nice experience, very nice place for the cinema. You can to bring your food and drink or you can buy in the garden.
What a wonderful evening out. Enjoy the setting sun with the changes in the colour palate whilst sipping a good Shiraz over a picnic dinner watching the bats make their way westward before snuggling up for a relaxing viewing. NB: Book your bean bed or bring along your own.
Watched top gun last week, really enjoyed the movie. Great venue when the weather is good, it was my first time being in the botanical garden at night.
Terrible customer service. No number to call or talk to a person. Late response to emails.
The tickets are super expensive (compare sunset cinema), no refund policy which is absolutely unfair, especially when the session was cancelled due to bad weather, not my fault.
Never booking again or recommending anyone! Will raise it with required authorities to ensure I get my refund.
Great experience, be it with friends or just family.
Try and park close to gate D of the Botanical Gardens for easy entry and definitely exit.
A great, different movie experience in the Connoisseur seats. Only downside was the music blaring from something nearby which wasn't ideal during the quieter scenes
It was a nice experience. You have to rent the beanbags. There is a chair section only to the right. There are plenty of bats around too. I'd rather go to the movie or watch TV on my comfy couch
It took us an hour to find a parking spot and we only saw 5 minutes of the movie before it got cancelled. It would be nice if they had some sort of plan for storms instead of just sending everyone home after all that effort.
We were there for a work function and were told we had a specific section to sit in, though the area did not seem to be divided into sections. So we spent even more time trying to find a seat.
It's also a fair walk to the toilet block, so if you go during your movie you'll probably miss something important.
It's a cool idea though, so if you go on a clear night it might be a good experience
Went here to experience their outdoor cinema. The screen was large with speakers loud enough to hear and enjoy the movie. I would definitely come back to watch more movies. Great place for family night and date night. A two hours movie may give you a sore butt if you don't have a cushion.
Fabulous experience watching a movie in the beautiful Bot Gardens with flying foxes overhead and the city in the background. Very well organised with lots of helpful staff to assist. You can rent a beanbag chair for $10, and I would recommend a blanket even on warm nights as the breeze can chill you after dark. Enter via gate D of the gardens on Birdwood Ave. There are vans selling some food and drinks, but the ideal is to bring a picnic dinner and arrive around 7pm to eat before the movie. This also means that you can get a great location for eating and viewing.
Fun and interesting experience. Would recommend everyone give it a try. Be sure to bring warm clothes just in case!
I am shocked and appalled by the people who run this company. You cannot advertise a product/service then not deliver on it and hide behind a lot of "conditions". Our session got cancelled on a sunny day due to "weather issues". I don't know but a 21 degree sunny afternoon / evening doesn't constitute as weather conditions and now we have missed the movie we paid for and been told we need to use it for ANOTHER movie which we don't want to see. PATHETIC!
