Moon & Mountain tried your takeaway for first time Thursday night.was expecting AMAZING for $99.unfortunately wasn’t great.the service was terrible, felt very uncomfortable & unwelcome when we arrived @ 5: 23pm to pick up. 7 min early.so sorry if this was such an inconvenience for you.was asked to come back later? Food was not worth the money.seemed to be put together in a rush.

Example on the salad.we do like our meat rare.but blue?

Great restaurant! Their vegetarian set menu was amazing, and the vibes in the upstairs dining area were fantastic.

Top quality service and atmosphere. The meal was TO DIE FOR and the cocktails were a real treat. Thu thru Fri is the All Time Favourites Banquet for $69pp. - so much food for an amazing price. A must dine experience in Ballarat.

Food was amazing, service was terrible. Blonde waitress and bartender were talking about my partner and I where I could see/hear them. Waitress saw that I was able to hear them and continued to talk about my partner and I with the bartender. Extremely unprofessional and immature behaviour from the waitstaff at such a nice restaurant.

Really cool place in Ballarat, the food was good flavour wise but no dishes really stood out. They have a cool cocktail and wine list but the best part was the service. We were served by Oisin and he was absolutely a stand out waiter.

As an Asian, I don't find the taste of the food amazing. We were told to sit on a bar table when I booked for a regular table due to other wheelchair using guest. Though, I couldnt find wheelchair using guest in the restaurant. The bar seat was very uncomfortable with many staffs walking around and chatting near the bar area. Temperature was not regulated in the restaurant, no airconditioning on a hot day. This restaurant is not worth the money, service being average and the food quality being poor.

3rd time eating here and the only sub par experience, the other 2 times were great.

Served by 3 people over the course of the meal. One young lady was borderline rude, rolled her eyes at things, made faces, stared around the place like she was inconvenienced to be there and just didn't 'belong'. The second server was OK - didn't do anything wrong, didn't delight either. 3rd (Oisin) was great - super attentive, offered alternatives to dishes, cleared the table with no fuss, friendly and helpful.

The booking we made was a little confusing as to the price, but it was explained after we arrived. Ordered 12 oysters, was served (and charged for) 15 - price wrongly entered too, had to be corrected at the till. One of our companions didn't partake in the bottomless cocktails but was charged for them all the same - we could have questioned it, but couldn't be bothered in the end. Pretty hot inside, music a bit too loud.

Food however was fantastic. Great quality, plenty of it and the arrival of dishes well spaced out. Not terrible, just missing a few things that made it an average visit.

Had a delicious meal and drink with colleagues Friday night. Food was amazing. We all had a fabulous time

This is one of Ballarat's best dining options.the staff are welcoming and engaging, the food is outstanding and the atmosphere is just perfect!
The cocktails are so good, it's so hard to decide on just one.

We recently had our Christmas Dinner here and the food was exceptional. Dan was very easy to deal with and was very accomodating - everyone of the team loved the food also!

I don't do a heap of restaurant reviews, but had to jump on here to drop a five star rating and highly recommend Moon & Mountain to anyone in the Ballarat area.

Three simple reasons:

A+ staff. Our waiters, bartenders and chefs were all just incredible. Our waiter in the upstairs seating area especially - he went above and beyond and was excellent at all aspects of his job.

A+ food. Modern Thai (and a few cameos from Korean and Japanese) oftentimes with an Aussie twist. All the classics, all insanely delicious. Special shout outs to the pot stickers, fried chicken, sticky pork and massaman curry.

A+ value. Portion sizes are incredibly generous. Our group was two girls, two big guys, all absolutely starving after a long day - and we struggled to finish everything.

The best dining experience we've had in Ballarat. Keep up the great work, guys.

Went to ask for a table for two. Admittedly had no booking but no options given to make one. Rude staff member and won't bother going back.

We shared a fantastic full moon banquet dinner and cocktails. I cannot recommend the kingfish, spiced pumpkin bao or Panang curry of roast cauliflower highly enough, each dish was divine. The staff were attentive and the cocktails were spot on. We will definitely be back for our next 'occasion' celebration.

Very delicious experience. The highlight for my partner and I was the Bao and the Oysters with that yummy sauce. Overall, for the price and set menu it is definitely a special occasion dinner.

This was my 3rd visit to Moon and Mountain. Staff double checked we had no dietary requirements and were constantly making sure we had adequate drinks. Bao is definitely the favourite, perfect crunch with the pork and flavours were on point. Will return again

What Did Happen?
I have been there 2 times before, last night Father's Day the food was ok but the service was all over the place. We had 4 people serving us (were not very busy at the 8 pm service), and 2 of them look like they did not want to be there. The part that i did not like was when the mains were finished and ready for Dessert rice some rice and other bits were on the table and the waiter did not bother cleaning it up. From previous visits, the service was always spot on and Very Professional. So Disappointing i have told so many people how great the place is. I will give it 1 more shot and see if it is any Better? Booking was not under my name.

Moon and mountain has always been a solid choice to enjoy a nice set dinner meal in Ballarat. Last time I've been has been a few months ago but it sounds like they've been struggling with some of their meal pacing in recent times. I'll be there again soon and will adjust my review based on the revised experience

Dined with a party of 8 and had the full moon banquet which was absolutely delicious! Staff were wonderful and catered to a few different dietary requirements with ease and great variety. Highly recommend!

Wonderfully accommodating, attentive and kind service from Rhys/Reece who was knowledgeable, friendly and a genuine delight to our larger table. The food was incredible, prompt and beautifully presented.

Would not hesitate to return after our experience. Thank you very much for your lovely hospitality?

Excellent food, even better service from Reece who is definitely an excellent asset to Moon and mountain. Will definitely return, and hope that Reece is our server once again
