Mooju Sri Lankan Restaurant reviews
37Indulged in the vibrant tapestry of Sri Lankan flavors at this gem. Every bite tells a delicious story; authenticity, warmth, and spices harmonize, creating a culinary masterpiece worth savoring. Best mixed fried rice I’ve ever had. Thank you for your kind service
Taste is good but very small portions and very expensive and charging almost $20 for a small rice and curry
Not worth and not recommended for going
Food tastes good and good price, best for take away. They also got all the sri lankan groceries
Moju restaurant catered for an event we recent held and we are extremely satisfied with their food which was a delight. Not only dishes were delicious but portions were also very generous. Their customer service is as excellent. Will definitely be ordering food there. Highly recommended
Today I went into the shop to buy some rolls and there was no one at the counter for like good 5-7 mins then I saw the grocery prices and they were way too high compared to other Sri lankan stores.
There were fish buns and they looked really small and flat and just walked off without saying or calling for anyone. Also the curries didn't look fresh at all as they looked really dry. Will not go here again.
Super nice staff amazing food for really cheap and the lady at the counter gave us a free drink
I recently went to Mooju restaurant and was extremely disappointed with my experience. The food was absolutely terrible. I ordered the chicken Dolphin kottu and it was overcooked and dry. The vegetables that came with it were also overcooked and mushy. The presentation of the food was unappetizing, I would not recommend Mooju restaurant to anyone. The food was terrible and the service was even worse. Save your money and go somewhere else.
I had the devil chicken and some spiced calamari, and both were absolutely delicious. Music was a little too loud inside for him to hear my order properly though and i wouldnt have wanted to eat there because it was so loud. Served too much rice in proportion to the meat, but the flavours in the meats made up for it.
Bought the banana leaf traditional srilankan food. 95% rice rest is nothing. We as customers pay 15 $ for a decent portion but this is worthless and not satisfying. I don't know why they are serving food with a tiny spoon. Total rip off.
First rule of business: satisfy the customer then they will buy more and then you can increase profit. This owner is just saving cost by not serving the customer proper and losing bunch of them. Ugh typical srilankan business mind set.
Rice and Curry: Excellent. Nice balance of flavours. Highly recommend.
Lumprice: Also very good. Only gripe is it can be a bit too oily.
Roti Deal: Good. But the chicken curry is usually too salty.
Kottu: Below average. Cannot recommend.
Short eats: Complete lack of flavour. Avoid.
Really great curry. Generous potions. I didn't finish all my food which is rare.
I paid 14.50 for a mixed plate and a Fanta which is very reasonable I think.
Will be coming back soon.
Nil hygiene standards. Terrible taste food and found a fly inside the rice pack. Never by again. Do not recommend this place for sri lankan food.
Melbourne's not short of Sri Lankan restaurants but the best aspect of the food at Mooju is the authenticity; It's just like the food our parents used to make at home in Sri Lanka. We can't help but go here several times a week.
Food & short eats good, they have nice cakes as well - although cakes are bit pricey.
Parking in front of this shop is terrible, when you park your car, people park right behind your car blocking your way out.
Definitely popular, with all the Sri Lankan staples. Love a good hopper and Malupan and theirs is some of the best!
We had a feast of lampries, kotu roti, biryani, noodles, pork curry, godamba. The food for excellent. We could not fault any dish. Generous portions. Highly recommend. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a beautiful meal.
Pretty average and tasteless food. Not sure what others have given 5 stars for. Portion sizes are way below par compared to other Sri Lankan restaurants in the south-east. I also ordered some short eats from the hot display which was dried up and hard as a rock. Wont be returning for sure.
Worst chicken buriyani I ever had.
No taste at all. Had some short eats but the same.
Maybe the chef is different today.
I have been to this several times and it was so good. But unfortunately today I was letdown by this food.
I think they should try first before selling to the customers.
Had a great time at Mooju. Ordered devil pork, Kothu rotti, egg fried rice and milk tea. We loved it.

Outdoor area available for dine in as well
We had Hopper & Roti pack for takeaway. The Hoppers were tasty & well done (crispy!). Great value for money!
