Just use hardwood decking and maintain it and save yourself the headache with scratches and fading issues

Used for a brand new deck at high expense. Would not recommend. Deck marks easily, fades quickly and grew mould on it which was extremely hard to remove. Customer service was below average.

Approximately 3-5 months after installation I flagged to them directly that the mould was growing. They put me in touch with an external company to fix it at my own expense - another $2k! Blamed it on the weather, how it was installed, how it was sealed - everyone else’s fault. Not their problem. No contribution to rectifying.

Something we thought was meant to be resilient was not what was hoped for. Would never install again.

Stay away at all cost.
Really expansive and not good quality. Don’t get burned like we did.

Have 2 decks at our property and it faded within 3 months.
Scratch easy and leave marks on it.
Compared to other composite decking it’s day and night.
Even big timber yards that sell modwood don’t recommend buying it as it’s really bad.

Warranty is not worth the paper it’s written on

Stay away if you don’t want to waste thousands of dollars

We have used this product as both decking and top surround of a pond to lean on. NOT HAPPY JAN! Don't dare walk on it or lean on it without shoes or sleeves. You will burn. It is disgustingly hot to touch. Buckled and warped too. Big waste of money. We're about to replace it real timber.

Modwood disaster.
In 2015 we built a new architecturally designed studio, we were sold on using Modwood for our decking due to it's durability and low maintenance. That couldn't have been further from the truth - It has been an expensive disaster, after 4 years the decking started swelling and splitting and any areas exposed to the weather started turning green. We contacted Modwood with our concerns and they have just basically fobbed us off. I have persisted and over the past 3 months sent over 50 photos and emails. They eventually have offered me a small discount if I purchase enough new Modwood from them to replace our decking. Sadly my story reflects the same as all the other reviews here, it seems Modwood take no responsibility for their defective product and the damages, costs and inconvenience that result. I have lodged a complaint with the ACCC but perhaps a class action is in order.

Installed mod wood 4 1/2 years ago it has faded badly looks pink now,
the fixings are not great allowing some boards to lift.
Needing to be fixed down regularly, but it hasn’t split as I’ve read in other reviews.
Would definitely not use it again. Haven’t bothered to contact them as all the reviews show that they do not care.
They do not deserve the business they need to stop making promises they wont keep.
Might as well have gone for the cheaper versions.

I am a wheelchair user and the Occupational Therapist OT recommended Modwood. A government agency part funded cheap pine ramp but the OT convinced us to pay more and go with the Modwood as it would hold out better to the daily traffic and is easier to maintain.

We self funded most of the ramps at our previous properties and have always used a hard timber. Slight upkeep but nothing compared to the Modwood. I did some research and agreed with the OT as it was used in commercial environments and appeared to uphold to its statements. I have contacted Modwood and they have just given me a blanket statement which really means nothing. Keep away from this.

I had the pleasure of working at this great company, the team on dayshift were incredible spent a lot of time providing me with training and gave me nothing but praise for the work I was doing. Then I made the mistake of asking to move to afternoon shift for the extra money, I was given a lot of warning.

Once on afternoon shift I was surrounded by laziness and incompetence. I wasn't given any further training on afternoon shift even though I was promised by management to learn everything. I knew from the moment I started working with these people my job wouldn't work out but I stuck it through and did my best to survive my treatment.

When I say treatment I knew for a fact that there was a concerted effort to injury me with a lack of rotation and constantly performing all the hard tasks. It came pretty close and I was determined to not have to lodge any compensation because that simply destroys any chance of being employed.

After sticking it out for so long and trusting management to have my back so to speak, literally in my case. I went on Christmas break expecting to go back to work after. No sign of any troubles, even invited me to one of the best Christmas lunches.

Two weeks into my break I lost my job, thanks, definitely could have enjoyed looking for work during that time and a full fortnight in unemployment. No problems, I mean you know what the worst part of being casual is always the Christmas break, 9 out of 10 times you lose your job too.

Okay, so what did I love about Modwood? I loved break times being set such that your first break is 45 minutes in causing a 4-5 hour work session at the end of the day.

I loved at 6pm how just after management would disappear all the fulltimers would pull out their phones and become so mindlessly phone absorbed that destruction to the product would occur.

I definitely loved going to every break not knowing how utterly destroyed my productivity was becoming in my absence. I enjoyed being called stupid because the earplugs prevented me from understanding the inane garbage my coworkers would yell at me.

I loved how I was put in a position where I had no choice but to run in the workplace by the same person who then made a complaint about me running in the workplace, thanks mate.

I loved how I was told more and more things were my job even though no training was given in how to do them, and when I failed was told that they would deliberately say negative things about me to get me fired.

I loved how I was told off for doing too much work making the job easier on the next shift, I was actively told to leave my work area as terrible for the next shift as I could, though I ignored such obvious nonsense.

I am glad to have worked for Modwood, it was a great kick in the pants and a wakeup call to never believe the promises management make no matter how delicious the Christmas party was. Merry Christmas! Thanks.
