I appreciate Dr Leila Foroughinia and her team for the excellent operation of my son giving birth last week. In the maternity ward, the staff were accommodating and kind. The atmosphere was good, the food was good enough, the equipment was good, the staff was great, and the doctor was great. Moreover, I want to give special thanks to Kathryn Coghlan and Danielle Alipanopoulos (and three other midwife's that unfortunately, I forgot their names) for their best assistance and care; they were kind and friendly all the time.

"You do good and throw in the river that God will give you in the desert"

Committed, skilled and hardworking staff deserve great applause. They are precious assets that are not easily found, let's not forget them.

Best wishes,
Hamid Forghani

Recently had surgery here and all the staff were incredible, amenities are good and everything went smoothly. The only downside was I had to wait hours and hours before heading in, I had not experienced this before as a private patient, but normally been on morning lists so the wait time was very minimal

Every single person from the minute I walked in the door (the admin team) to the nurse helping me out the door after a day surgery procedure, were absolutely beautiful people and fantastic. I felt so heard, cared for, validated and understood by the admissions team, nurses, doctors, anaethetist and honestly, everyone i came in contact with. Their communication was thorough. Even other team members who weren't involved in my care were so warm. I honestly was so blown away, and I am so grateful for the team at Mitcham Private. Thank you

My partner and I had our baby here. Every single person here was exceptional, they should all be extremely proud of themselves.

The rooms were very spacious and food was very good, even catered for us vegans without issue.

I attended Mitcham Private hospital for a procedure recently and was happy with how everything went.

As soon as you walk through the front door, there are masks provided for visitors with clear instructions.

The Administration staff and nurses are thorough, friendly and helpful.

Ample parking spots available.

I gave birth a month ago with my first baby and I would highly recommend this hospital. My Obs was very professional and amazing. I met more than 10 midwifes during my 5 days stay and every single one was very kind, lovely and helpful. The room was clean and the food was not too bad. I would definately go back for the next time.

Positives the theatre staff - including the surgeon and anaesthetist.

Negatives - nursss who had absolutely no idea the type of surgery I had, dinner staff who couldn’t understand simple instructions that I wasn’t able to eat post tonsil surgery. Nurses who just had no pride in their performance, poor bed side manner and again no idea what type of surgery I had - only provided medication when asked.

An absolutely horrible experience - again hope I never have to go back

The receptionist at 23 Doncaster East Road (consultant suite) is very rude, not willing to help. Dont want to see her ever again!

The Early Parenting Unit really saved our sanity and helped us regain our own sleep. We went in when our daughter was 3 months old and she responded really well with the program. The follow-up support has also been amazing as you feel guided the whole way through. Highly recommended if you feel like you need help with your baby's sleep or any other issues you may encounter throughout parenthood. The nurses and staff are very attentive and guide you through the process; you just have to make sure you go in with an open mind and are willing to adopt the methods used. The hospital is small, but the care and attention you get far exceeds those from other hospitals!

We just came back from the Early Parenting Centre (AKA Sleep School), so I thought I’d write the review that I wish someone had posted for me. I’ll cover the pros, cons and some of the negative reviews/why people may feel that way:

PROS:
-The nurses are extremely attentive, dedicated and make you feel like the entire centre is just for your baby. I just can’t fathom how they muster such enthusiasm and energy every day and night too! I’d say they’re even better than the gold standard nurses at Frances Perry.
-The school covers both food and sleep, so you can also work on any dietary concerns.
-It actually worked! We went from a baby that only slept 1-2 hrs continuously a night to 12-14 hrs.
-The lunch and dinners are prepared by a high end chef on weekdays (see cons for weekends). The menu is also very broad and appealing during these times.

CONS:
-The rooms are deliberately designed so that you can hear if your baby is crying in another room (imagine if they didn’t allow that! Lol). At least the walls are very thick, so you won’t hear your neighbours. If this is a deal breaker, they’ll provide you with ear buds, but that’ll likely mean that the nurses will wake you more often.
-The food on the weekend is a little bland. Most breakfasts are similarly unimaginative. We assumed that the head chef was away during these times.

NEGATIVE REVIEWS:
In this section I’ll address common complaints that we read prior to coming and the potential trigger:

1. ‘The program doesn’t work’ - We met a mum that argued every request and didn’t follow the program. It’s no surprise that this mums baby didn’t improve at the same rate as ours. In short, if you’re not going to come and cooperate, you’re not going to get all the benefits.
2. ‘I’m [nationality], they’re racist’ - Not a shred of truth to this one. Many mums in our group were from around the world and they were all treated wonderfully!
3. ‘It’s loud! Babies are crying all the time’ - Yes, this is true, however it is a Sleep School. Would you complain about water at a public pool? In short, you have to be able to hear your little one crying in an adjacent room, so your door is deliberately designed to let in some sound.
4. ‘They force your baby to cry it out’ - They ask (not force) and teach you to listen to the type of cry and to act based on that. They do not simply leave babies to cry at all. In fact, they often advised us to go assure our little one before we thought it was necessary.

THE RESULT:
Our little one is now sleeping at night without interruption and properly during the day. If you’re seeking the same, I can’t think of a better place to come!

I hope this helps you to make your decision.

Legal disclaimer my experience is not the fault of Mitcham Private Hospital nor is it a reflection on the quality of the care that their staff provide nor does it relate to the operating laws that they have to adhere to as a hospital and is a risk in any operation.
I had an ovarian cyst removed my operation ports were not sutures shut and I had internal bleeding but was asked to leave the hospital as my crying out in pain was to loud but only after they gave me a super strong Addictive opiate luckily I went to box Hill Hospital they suited my wounds gave me a much lighter form of pain relief and gave me two units of blood in the critical care unit
I as a caretaker in aged care was appalled at the nurses in short stay i over heard one say a patient had passed away and the other nurse responded with “nobody would miss her anyway”. I was also judged by staff with unnecessary comments for having tattoos.

Birthing Suite & Maternity ward staff overwhelmingly friendly, courteous and understanding. Karen is worthy of a 5 star recommendation herself. Partners sleeping arrangements need a serious look at (that's where you loose a star). Overall great experience.

I have recently had two long stays at Mitcham Private Hospital in their surgical ward, and I can honestly say that I cannot fault the nursing staff. They have been attentive, friendly and always enter the room with a smile on their faces. My surgeon is amazing, always very approachable and takes his time to speak to me and offer reassurance when needed. I highly recommend this facility, I hope my review makes your decision to stay here an easier one.

Poorly run, staff are rude, incompetent and not friendly. Most of the nurses should not be nurse's. They appear to not enjoy their job as they treat patients very badly. I do not recommend this place for mental health issues or for any other reason. Do not go here.

My experience at Mitcham Private with my first baby was fantastic. As a first time mom n dad we had no idea what it was going to be like. The nurses and midwives were very attentive and caring. Special thanks to Midwife Barbara, a young midwife who truly cared and gave me great advise and assisted us through the night, even taking the baby away for a few hours so we could get some sleep. Thanks Barbara, YOU WERE THE BEST
And Nurse Nicole, a young bubbly nurse, so pleasant and helpful made our stay of 4 nights very easy when she was on duty.
The food service was always on time and pretty good for hospital standards.
Special thanks to nurses in the baby nursery who took care of my baby the first 2 nights xx
Only minor recommendations are, the alarms in the night by other rooms were pretty loud and kept us awake and the sound proofing between rooms are not great.
We stayed in the VIP room, the bed was not the most comfortable. Wish it was a tad bigger as its meant to be for 2 adults. There probably should be a night light for the night as the ceiling lights were way too bright during night nappy change time. We had the bathroom light on with the door slightly ajar.

Overall the whole experience was great and most of the staff were too.we will see you for our second one

Had surgery here in July 21, the staff were terrific, very pleasant and helpful. The facilities were clean and comfortable, or as comfortable as can be after surgery. Overall, I would go here again if the need arrises.
