I took my watch for a battery change here and unfortunately it was returned to me in a worse state than when I delivered it. I’m upset, but even more so, I’m frustrated! My watch is one of the few special accessories I have, it had significant meaning for me, and isn’t cheap to replace.

I had the battery replaced and soon after noticed a lot of moisture gathering inside it.it is a water resistant watch!? I took it back to Mister Mint Mornington and the gentleman there requested I return with the warranty in order to fix the watch at no cost. He also stated that the watch is not water resistant, though retracted that when I drew his attention the the clear marking on the underside of the watch. He was good about it. Lovely man.

When I found the warranty (a business card with some tick boxes) I was surprised to see that no pressure test had been completed and that the warranty indicated my watch was unsafe for use in water. Furthermore the warranty indicated that I “declined” the pressure test when it was not even offered to me? ! Despite the warranty indicating I would probably not be covered for the ingress of water, I thought I’d take it back in to discuss and see what could be done.

When I returned with the watch and warranty, the lady who served me could do little more than reiterate that i wasn’t covered under the warranty and assert that I would have been asked whether I wore it in water when I brought it in. All I could do was explain that I wasn’t asked, and that while I was given a warranty the least they could have done is warn me that my water resistant watch may no longer be waster resistant. It was a very easy out for Mister Mint, to refer me back to the warrant and to assert that “every customer is asked whether they wear it in water”. The fact is, I probably wasn’t asked because they didn’t even think it was a water resistant watch when they replaced the battery.

I left being made to feel like a liar, stupid, at fault, trapped and upset. I now have a ruined watch, not even a partial solution offered my Mister Mint.could they not have offered just to open the watch, dry out the components and check that the seals were replaced properly?

It’s disappointing that when customer service falls down for no other reason than human decency and understanding. There is nothing I can do.

Dropped in to get some engraving (5 letters) done on a small brass plaque (all told $17). The work was done immediately and with a smile by young Bree. Great service and damn sight cheaper than the kiosk in another area! I’ll definitely be back.
