Midnight Starling

We ate Saturday lunch recently & Mid night Starling did not disapoint. Great service, fast, efficient & friendly. The food was delicious from start to finish. I loved the armagnac ice cream with the poached prunes & hazelnut. We will definitely be back.

Truly fabulous bistro-style dining room with delicious local fare. Daniel and his team are excellent. Their restaurant is exceptionally charming but not pretentious.

One of the worst dining experiences I have had from start to finish.
We were seated by the front door, with people brushing past us and bursts of cold air anytime the door was opened.
Other tables looked like they had good service and conversations with the owner, we however, were not extended such courtesy. Our server was polite and efficient, but not very personable.
Food was incredibly overpriced for the size of portions, with basic sides such as a bowl of steamed veges costing around $10 and no accompaniments included in any dishes (if you get the duck, there will be only duck on the plate).
After dinner, we went and got pizza because we were still hungry (after having a main and dessert).
On the positive side, the interior, while tight, is inviting (if you’re not given a table by the door).

Fabulous dining experience. Clearly a lot of thought and care has gone into every aspect of this restaurant. Impecable food, wine and service in a relaxed and tasteful environment. We were so pleased to have found this gem.

Absolutely amazing dining experience in Kyneton. Steak Tartare awesome. John Dory even better. Matching wines by the guys made the experience even better. I'm fussy but could not complain about anything. Toilet door's have to be seen to be believed.

Worth every penny, hands down easily one of the best regional Victoria restaurants. Food, wine service exceptional, perfectly French.

Will never even consider this venue! Had a birthday booking for 6, confirmed 2 days before the booking, arrived on the night to a closed sign with no prior warning. Drove 90 minutes for this. Absolutely ridiculous.

If there were more stars, this place deserves it. Amazing food, service, and wines are incredible. 2nd time here, and will be many more.

Amazing traditional French cuisine, with a comfortable, inviting atmosphere. Will be back for sure.

Food and service, simply magnificent! Great choice of local and other fine wine. My favourites, pigeon followed by tomato tart. The side of potato gratin was as good as this dish can get! Yum!

French bistro with prix fixe menu and solid selection of local wines by glass plus some French classics for good measure. Servings are a little small at first glance but the sauces are very rich and with sufficient side dishes you won't go hungry.

Upmarket dining experience with relatable wait staff. Food pairs nicely with the wine selection. Treat yourself to touch of France in Kyneton!

Very good French style bistro, serving fairly traditional fare. Nice ambience, attentive staff, very good food. Pris fixe menu the night we went. $600 for 4 pax including copious wines.

A narrow but exquisite menu. Pricey but superlative quality. My only, small, quibble, is that the potatos au gratin were a little oily. The food is complemented by a first rate wine list. The service was attentive and professional.

Yum food. The duck is extra awesome. Creme caramel is really good too, service is spot on as well
