Mexicali Mama

Food was pretty bland and my Margarita was incredibly salty. So salty I couldn't drink it. Unfortunately won't be returning.

Service wasn't great. We were advised when booking for a 7: 30 slot that the kitchen closed at 8pm so we would need to be quick with our order. We pre checked the menu and were ready to order quickly once we arrived in preparation for this however we were seated and not approached for our order to be taken until 7: 50 and the waitress looked very unimpressed. Wouldn't recommend

Ive had worse, but Ive definitely had better.
Much more of a Tex-mex restaurant than a Mexican restaurant.
Portions were good, but when the food is mediocre.its just a lot of meh food.
Got charged for spicy sauce which was odd as the menu even has a whole blurb about asking staff to make it spicier if you want.so i did.didnt know it was another $3 more to do that.
Prices were high for what came too. $20 for 3 'gringo' tacos, $13 for a small bowl of guacamole and store bought chips.

Had to wait over an hour for main meals, which was tacos and a beef enchilada. Not worth the wait by any means. Tacos were very good, But in the wait time i could have driven to Melbourne to get some!

I’m a hard marker…:) food was good, noisy, 1/2hr wait which seems ok when they were so busy! Check the top rail of the chairs… built up grime. Ewww. Friendly staff.:)

Had dinner in this Mexican restaurant on the 5/1/2023, well what an absolute let down.
Entree took 30min, which by the way was Especial Nachos pre made and just microwaved.
No flavour not taste super bland, main meal (Enchilada) pre prepared then microwaved for a LONG time come served with rice that was almost pulp and beans with not flavour and the corn tortilla OMG no clue what the much meat was in it. The place was at about 40% capacity. Absolute terrible experience.

Always a fantastic meal; we got takeaway for the first time very generous sizing, great customer service and delicious food every single time!

Open inbetween regional covid lockdowns, the staff were friendly and chatty. Food was very nice and fairly priced. The only downside was the wonky table we were seated at. Staff were aware it was wonky and told us they had tried to fix it and apologised for it however.

I don't normally do Mexican food as past experiences at been average at best. Mexicali Mama was amazing! The food was delicious, the setting comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be going back soon.

I've always loved coming here, and went tonight for the first time in a while. Wait-staff were absolutely lovely and the food was great as always:) 100% recommend mamas el special nachos and the strawberry daiquiri!

Went with family, huge place! Good Mexican food. Was great having options for people such as myself who aren't the biggest Mexican fans, such as the ribs and the wings.
Also staff were lovely and friendly, and were very interested in our opinion of the food. They were lovely, regardless of how crazy my family was and the amount of water we kept asking for

Whilst the food is good the service is awful and any place that won't split bills is just not supporting their customers and will not work out for me or my whole table. Won't be back.

Went here for the first time last night for my birthday dinner.
Food was great, the waitresses were really friendly.
Overall, had a really positive experience.
Will definitely be back.

Great service, very friendly staff. However the food was a let down. I thought given the prices were not that cheap it would be incredible food. It was fairly bland with not a lot of flavour and the meat didn't seem to be the best quality.

Sat at our table for 15 minutes before waitress took our food and drink orders.
I ordered the enchilada and taco. The enchilada was burnt on top, the taco shell was not crispy, tasted like it had been microwaved.
Noticed that people who came in after me, had their meals before us, even though they had ordered after us and did not order anything different.
There are much better Mexican Restaurants in Geelong that I will go to instead of Mexicali Mama, not again.

Mexicali Mama obviously has a very cool Mexican vibe. Out the front of the restaurant is a cute romantic candle lit area but out the back is a better lit spot for groups. We all really enjoyed the food. Once we got it. The service was just horrible maybe if you go and just wait to place your order, you can walk out when the waiter/ess arrives because you will have lost your appetite in that time and then go back in and do it all again twice while waiting for your food. The worst part is that the place wasn't even that busy when we went and people that had come in an hour after us had already eaten and left.

Whenever I'm in town, it's a must stop. Avoid on AFL nights as packed, but otherwise plenty of parking and seating. Great vegetarian food. Highly recommend the Pina Coladas, chili con queso and be warned about the jalepenos!

Not for me, very expensive and small serve, food was also warm. My friends said their meals were good. Place was very busy, so must be popular.

Great Mexican restaurant! 10/10 heat is insanely hot recommend to anyone that loves there really hot sauce. The staff are also very friendly and helpful.
