Merlin's Garden

Merlins Garden Cottage was so lovely, it was a very cold weekend and we sat by the wood heater with champagne looking over the mountains. We will definitely be going back. The host, Irene, was so warm and friendly, you felt like you had know her for years. We had a beautiful home made German style breakfast which had most of the breakfast made from their own gardens fruit and conserve. I would certainly recommend Merlins Garden and I can't wait to go back. Thank you Irene you have a lovely special please and we loved every minute!

Quality quality quality, the location & the accommodation are all first rate, you wont be disappointed, the gardens are sensational, & the self contained unit has everything you could want.

Beautiful gardens & room with wood-fired stove. Fabulous hosts. Wonderful home-grown produce. We could have just stayed there & not ventured out for the whole weekend! Our stay there was an inspiration to get back into our own garden:)

A beautiful place to stay with a magical garden, mountain view and lovely accommodation. Irene went out of her way to ensure that we had privacy, but also looked after us with delicious breakfasts (home-made cake, home-made jam, European-style breads, freshly squeezed juice and boiled eggs were part of the spread), and checked that we had everything we needed. We were also allowed to stay with our dog and very much appreciated being allowed to relax in such beautiful surrounds with our pet. There are so many unique and beautiful plants in the garden and the main pond was also amazing (and home to a frog or two). The location is a short drive up to Olinda for shopping or dinner.

All I can say. I can't wait to come back again!

I have never stayed anywhere that is as beautiful as Merlin's Garden! The gardens and surrounds are just devine! The Terrace was just perfect!

Irene and Harald were just amazing! They are the nicest most hospitable hosts who invest so much love and time into their property, it really shows!

I highly recommend to everyone out there thinking of staying here! DO IT! You won't be disappointed!

Lovely location and hosts.
Really loved the garden as a gardener! Irene's tips were invaluable and we shared some useful and interesting information with eachother.
The cottage had everything we needed and we loved that there was lots of glass to enjoy the garden views and beyond, through.
Really appreciated the pet friendly accommodation, that was of a very high standard. Our little dog was given the liberty of the whole garden too.
Would highly recommend!

This cottage was by far the largest we have ever stayed in, they had the fire blazing on arrival and greeted us at the gate! Big King bed, comfy sofa's and have a cooker which most cottages dont! They were both so welcoming and delivered what i can only describe as the freshest most yummiest breakfast both mornings. The Gardens - well they are just glorious! We walked them about 5 times in two days as we could get enough of all the different flowers, fruits and ponds along the way! My partner and i get away once every 3 months and have stayed in A LOT of cottages and this is by far the best! It was truly amazing! Thanks guys! Viv, Jas & Teddy)

Beautiful place, very good service. I had spoken to irene on the phone before our arrival and informed her that it was my partner's birthday, she brought us a beautiful cake free of charge. Really nice, was not expecting that at all. The cottage was quite big, with nice fire place. We enjoyed our stay 100% and probably had the best sleep we have had in a long time. Definitely recommend it for anyone looking to get away from the City and doesn't want to travel to far.

Stayed there twice. Great views and great service. Irene could not be more helpful. We had special dietary requirements so said no to breakfast but she brought us a lovely hamper of fresh produce from the garden.
She draw us a little map with all the walks of the area.
When we came there for a second time, it was like going back to the friends' house.
We would love to stay there again. Thank you Irene and Harold for a great time!

From the gorgeous and breathtaking views of the garden, to the warm and hospitable hosts, Merlin's Garden was a wonderful and relaxing retreat away from home. Our stay at Merlin's Garden was one of the most peaceful getaways. The private and self-contained 'Terrace' we stayed in was kept meticulously tidy and had a comfy and homely feel to it. To cap it off our hosts were so generous and friendly and made us feel at home from the get go. If you are planning a getaway to Mount Dandenong I would highly recommend Merlin's Garden. Thank you Irene and Harold for a lovely stay!

Irene was a pleasure to deal with and so welcoming. We arrived late on a freezing night and the cottage was toasty warm as they had lit the fire for us in advance. Delicious home-made goodies for breakfast, beautiful garden surroundings, and the comfiest bed ever!
Would highly recommend this cottage and hope to return.

Booked one night to book several months in advance and called the very next day to cancel, was not told about a deposit or anything and they have taken 50% of cost out of my credit card, extremely rude people! DO NOT RECCOMMEND!

You couldn't ask for a more beautiful place to stay! Irene and Howard are generous, friendly and hospitable. They were genuinely concerned with providing the best possible service for us. The room is thoughtfully decorated and has a warm and relaxing atmosphere. The gardens are spectacular and we thoroughly enjoyed sitting outside in the peace and tranquility they created. Our firewood was regularly replaced and the breakfast was superb. I highly recommend staying at Merlins Gardens and hope to return again soon.

Had a lovely, relaxing weekend away with the family at Merlin's Garden. We were welcomed by Irene with her delicious homemade fig cake and a warm fire. My parents loved the garden. They would have been perfectly happy to just stay at the cottage and admire the garden all day, but I made them get out and see the rest of the Dandenongs, The cottage was clean, cosy and really comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and the hosts couldn't have been more friendly. We would definitely stay here again next time we visit the Damdenongs.

We had a wonderful time at Merlin's Gardens! Loved the garden and the beautiful view of the ranges. It was the perfect spot to visit the Dandenongs and the Yarra Valley. Rooms are stylish and comfortable and breakfast a real treat. Will definitely be back.
