Mentone Girls' Secondary College

I wasn’t going to do this but I want to make my observations and recommendations very clear. The principals disturbingly degrade and abuse their leadership towards the teachers causing disrupted nurturing, caring and understanding causing teachers to either move or retire. Other teachers have been known to verbally abuse students while doing nothing in regards of acknowledging or sorting out the issue. They have illegally forced multiple students to withdraw, including myself, due to the fact that I needed to move out of home due to mental health and abuse. Because I was vulnerable, they lashed out in multiple ways. The young and brightest deserve far far better than the school. An honest disgrace to have attended there, have the most narcissistic leadership. And I would never recommend that you send your daughter here even if I am biased I believe every student deserves far more opportunities and acceptance than the school will ever have to give. Once I complete my education in another facility I will be filing a complaint on multiple cords towards the school, including without the evidence of the misconduct that was presented. P. S I’ve spoken to multiple departments to verify of their actions towards myself and other youth are illegal so it isn’t a matter of opinion.

They make students cold and sick by not opening the classrooms during breaks, and they can't even afford camps.teachers take so long to correct and give back test and half of the teachers should NOT be working here.they care more about the uniform than students mental health.smhhhhhhhhh classrooms feel cheap.

This is one of the last schools I would recommend sending your daughter. My personal experience was horrible bullying was rampant in the school and every time I report my own bullying or something else they did nothing. Also there was no support for the LGBTQA+ students. Every time we raised money or tried to have a celebration day, we we always restricted or the money went to anything else than what was intended. Also the teachers were allowed to talk down to the students and when that issue was brought up it was made like we were the bad guys and the teachers who actually cared got nothing. Stay away from this school

Bad school, dosnt fit the needs of students.they degrade and pick on certain students that they dont understand.they make students come home feeling depressed.very dissapointed in this mainstream school.

I have fond memories of my time at MGSC, I will say however that bullying is a rampant issue at this school and mental health is badly overlooked.

Being a student here at Mentone, I have been offered many great opportunities. I have made wonderful friends and the teachers are very supportive.

Five teachers bulled and abused my child threatened to lock her in a room all day and not let her out abused her for months to point she has panic attack daily and she has a life threatening medical needs

I walked into my maths class room and found one of the Chinese exchange students levitating with a sausage roll in the middle of a table.lucky for me i know Latin. Even thought he was a Chinese exchanges student he started chanting "praise the dog" in Latin. Probably the best school you could send your daughter to.

There is too much emphasis is put on uniform instead of student wellbeing or actual learning. This is evident in the culture of bullying and violence in the school- and the way staff are dismissive of it.

I attended this school back in 1991 and Mr Dunkley was THE BEST teacher, you made ANY of my education worth while. Thank you so much fo your undivided attention whenever I was confused or needed to know more. (Science is still my favourite subject to date) Ms McLeod, was THE BEST French teacher! And Mr Shillabeer was THE BEST math teacher! And Conney You were instrumental in my life and I never have forgotten you! Apart from these wonderful people I suffered and was even accused of cheating on an algebra test, to which I will never forgive Maria. EVER! And when I tried to re-attend, I was denied! To the people I mentioned. To the rest you ruined my life!

I think this school has a fantastic curriculum, the only concern is some of the offensive graffiti around the campus is quite distracting.

This is a fabulous, state school for girls only. My three girls have loved it here. They have not only achieved academically but have found their confidence in being themselves. No secondary school does not have bullies, make up, alcohol or other issue, private or otherwise. Glad that they are in a state school where they are learning about life and friends with real people. I know that my children will achieve all their dreams. I have met some horrible people since moving to Australia but I have met some great parents, gorgeous girls that my girls have befriended and some dedicated and wonderful teachers. I know I have put my girls to the best school in Bayside.

Terrible school unless you are outstanding academically. The school doesn't deal with Bullying adequately. The victims are left humiliated and shamed! Poor teachers don't help!

Very disappointed I sent my daughter here, teachers love to pick on and degrade certain students and the facilities are terrible and filled with asbestos. Very glad to now be sending my child to a private school in Brighton.

On the Melbourne gal pals page on Facebook a girl named Liv, 16 years old was bullying, fat shaming, speaking all sorts of profanity and making others feel as though they were worthless. With her having your schools name on her account and attending your school she is representing you whilst she is on social media. This is me informing you of what this girl makes your school look to be, grateful not to attend your school with nasty girls like these.

Very disappointed, my daughter failed to go back to school last year and they didn't even bother to contact me. There was no exit form filled out stating her intention not to return. Her books, the expensive calculator and senior school jumper where removed from he locker and given away.
