Screen and media is really really bad. Please go to Swinburne or RMIT instead of this place if you wanna do media.

Would actually like to put in a formal complaint if I can find the time. Vet nursing cert 4 was an absolute joke.
Firstly, they were so quick to take your money but the course had changed from what it previously was, which was 3-4 days on campus and they would find you work placement. It had gone almost entirely online, we had 1 day a week on campus for practicals (if we were lucky) but the course still cost as much AND you have to find ur own placement.
There was no organisation and it was very much "we will just get that part done sometime before *insert deadline here*".
Teachers sometimes get back to you, sometimes they forget entirely or answer 2 days later.
I was diagnosed with a learning disorder while attending and was having a really hard time. Waited 3 months for the "student support" to contact me back and only after I made a face to face complaint to my teacher. Then, student services never did anything or followed up.
Shortly after that, I received a threatening email from course co-ordinator that if I didn't pay my next fees, I would be unenrolled.
I would have saved so much money and probably got the same amount of support, if not more, from an online course. Not to mention the effect on my mental health.

They take way too long to respond to enquires. I probably won't be able to start now. Severely affecting my mental health.

Had applied an animal studies course 2-3 weeks before the course starts, at the end they called me saying the course is full just one day before the course starts. I should apply another institute if they can let me know earlier. Thanks so much and so disappointing. Not recommend!

I am so sick of getting their cringe ads in my Youtube when they are worthless and they don't even reply back to anything that you send them. I'm getting Adblock. This is ridiculous.

The Horticultural Arboreal guys undertook a challenging wildlife hazard removal from high in a tree on the Yarra River. It was a kite and ropes that was threatening entanglement to our flying foxes and birds in the area. Many thanks to them. Greatly appreciated.

Seems like a nice campus. I only know it as my friend has accommodation here. The facilities seem pretty good and the grounds look really nice and well maintained.

Illustration:
Some Teachers are really good and show professionalism teaching class work that is relevant and engaging to what is current. However there is one reoccurring teacher that lacks in all mentioned and is teaching outdated classes and just not understanding the students whatsoever always too busy to mark students work or email them, as they are teaching a handful of classes doing a class themselves and acting as a coordinator of sorts.

- PLEASE REMEMBER THIS IS ONLY ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATION BACHELOR -

Update: Do not go here for illustration, the coordination of the whole course is off and completely disorganized, teachers hardly teach the classes and expect the students to just assume or guess what they are wanting from the teachers because the briefs are that vague. If you have any sort of medical written up report by the college themselves the teachers will ignore it or misunderstand what it actually entails "keeping it on the shelf" as stated by the coordinator instead of on the teachers person where they can read how to approach the student correctly and how to deliver their education to them. Their moodle system is the most time wasting device they have and is just an added layer of stress on top of an already filled timetable, it hardly does what it is meant to. Work life balance is never taken into account so students end up with severe burnout within the third week of each semester, it took a virus to point out the flaws in the delivery of their education, and still out of a handful of a teachers two rethought the workload dropped on students within a two/three week period.

Overall there needs to be more structure between coordinator, staff and students because currently it's flying by the seat of it's pants. Complaints that are thrown at you at a week by week basis should not be resolved by oh just write it down and I will get to it. Medical plans NEED to be taken seriously and kept with the teacher and NOT on a shelf, the whole campus needs a stronger mental health service as I was told they are councilors that really don't have the training for students who face physical or mental breakdowns, they are not equipt nor do they have the staff numbers to facilitate the amount of students on campus. I will point out the lie given to me by the coordinator on the day I came for an interview "there is a psychiatrist who visits occasionally and there are full time psychologists" which was a complete lie all there is are three Councillors who work part time and it's weeks before you can even organised a meeting with them. It's overpriced for lack of education and lack of equipment at the college we are allowed to use, they expect every student ontop of their ridiculous fee price to go out and buy every art product know to man and to keep it all on you at all times which is just not physically possible. Only teachers who cared about students welfare as well as passions and tailored education to students professional directions were Rhiannon and Dean and both are excluded from all complaint.

If you like "school of rock", this is where you should go. I have studied here for three years and do not want to leave. The University is located near a dorm, where students can walk to class any time without getting late. If you struggle with your assignments, the lecturers are open for consultation and one of them even bought me a coffee when I bursted into tears.

The lessons are fun, I studied "Songwriting and Music Production" with Andy White as a programme coordinator. That guy has worked with The Cranberries before! He mixed and mastered my tracks. He also brought the whole students to a rock concert for a field trip and shouted everyone drinks (both alcohol/non-alcoholic, who cares man, we're over 18!)

I really like the opportunity to do researches on famous rockstars, as well as writing a peer-to-peer review of our classmates. Personally, I struggle with being bullied in my whole life but I can 100% guarantee that there are NO BULLIES in this University. If you need counseling, it's free and there are four counsellors to choose from. The best part of it all is making lifelong friends that stay with me for life, not like those popular high school chick flick mates who come and go.

Choose Melbourne Poly!

Worst educational institute I have attended.
They care about money. Not you or your education.
If you recieve a Government benefit/Government fee assistance, you will be treated with nastiness. So stay away!

Classes were all over the place. Teacher's were disorganised and lacked efficiency to run a class. And the enrolment process was beyond a joke!

Very disappointing!

I was into my second year and left due to the communication ossues and lack of efficiency in how the students were treated. The teachers are not good enough and my complaints and issues were never taken seriously. I had issues that could have been resolved but were ignored which lead to having further problems with my coursework. Its unorganised and you can count of little to no leadership which is incredibly important.

If you're looking for a laid back dgaf (dont give a f**k) response from the staff then go here. Ive asked for help from teacher who just pass me on to the student next to me for help instead. It's not their job its yours.

Annie is aweful. I lost grades due to her NEVER responding to my emails in regards to coursework, and she was on campus twice a week for two classes (one hour each). I was constantly taking myself into the teaching offices for questions to he answered and for assistance because half the time we had no teachers.

This is the only place in victoria which offers any form of degree in illustration - and it's the most disappointing degree.

They currently don't have a very effective student complaint handling system. Complaints handled by faculty, Student Services and Student Experience departments are often one-sided, advantageous to staff, and women.
Complaints made against a staff member won't be taken very seriously as staff would simply be defended by the management hierarchy. Complaints made by female students are often given better priority- males accused of wrong doing won't be treated fairlyy, as the females making allegations are believed better.

A feminist college. Though Melbourne Polytechnic opens its doors to all genders, there seems to be preference for female leadership. Apart from the fact that females are given better preference in resolving a complaint they are also awarded and some are asked to teach at the college! These individuals are usually featured in the student newsletter, brochures, and on the website. I have never encountered a male student being featured for excellence, being awarded or asked to teach. It has been traditionally like this since Melbourne Polytechnic was known as NMIT. Its better off being funded as a women's college than as a co-educational college as presenting itself as a co-educational college is nothing but a sham.

There have been 4 CEOs in the last 3 years which shows a great deal of instability. Constantly changing CEOs is always a bad sign. Either the CEO doesn't know how to solve an issue because there aren't good or any procedures that work, doesn't care, or simply doesn't want to fix problems. Leadership attitudes often send messages to lower level management and faculty in how subordinates and students would be treated- not all subordinates and students would be taken seriously but they would also be treated with disrespect. The government shouldn't be funding colleges that do not take student concerns seriously.

They changed their corporate image and website design but kept existing negligent and disrespectful staff who have been creating problems for students. Some of these employees have been there for more than 20 years.

Teaching standards aren't very consistent- there are great teachers but there are also horrible teachers in the same program. Program managers/leads won't put a new teacher on to replace a bad teacher but keep the bad teacher on the teaching roster to the detriment of future students. They hire industry professionals to teach simply because they are industry professionals regardless whether they are excellent teachers. Areas of serious teaching and program management concerns are Creative Arts Department: ie. Visual Arts, Graphic Arts, Photography, Live Production- programs that do not have patience with their students.
Students from these courses have been known to complain and tell others about their very bad experiences that are still unresolved.

A, "Them versus us", attitude towards students. The college faculty and management appears to be believing in a brother in arms reality and living in a war against the student body, who are relentlessly attacking them with issues and complaints. The faculty and management view students who bring up issues and make valid complaints as "the enemy" which must be eradicated immediately, by applying adverse disciplinary action. An example of this is deliberately making false assumptions on a targetted student for an excuse to impose a ban on the student from speaking to staff and other students, entering all campuses and to continuing studies. Faculty allegations will simply be backed up by management, Student Services and Student Experience departments.

Lastly, they do not have staff disciplinary procedures but only student disciplinary procedures- meaning, they do not discipline misbehaving staff but only students for alleged misconduct.

I've noticed quite a few bad reviews posted here. I'm not surprised at them. In fact I believe all of them.

I seriously wouldn't recommend enrolling in any program. I wouldn't change my post until they resolve my issue. The government should close this college down.

Quirky campus is repurposed infectious diseases hospital. Nice grounds. Public cafe and retail nursery. No smoking. Pay to park.
