I been going to doctor jason for my pain and he been wonderful and a good listener and also good for a chat. When I was in hospital if I needed him, he would come in to the hospital to check ️ if I was okay and ask how my pain etc even comes in on his day off

I'm feeling so much better now that im seeing a different pain specialist and he was in disbelieve about the quality of care I was receiving from doctor slon its been several months now since I've been seeing the new pain specialist I can honestly say this is the best I've felt in a long time, they have changed my life and nothing is too much for them. They help me in ever possible way. They have a wonderful treatment plan for me I've never felt so understood and appreciated and gives me great hopes that there are other specialist that actually wanna help their patients After seeing Dr slon I was very hesitant and very scared of being judged and be little by other specialist but PLEASE PEOPLE WHO ARE IN PAIN DONTNBEAT YOURSELF UP LIKE I DID because there are other great specialist out there. Anyone who would like to know the clinic and name feel free to contact me. But please stay away from Melbourne pain group they only about the dollar. 1 star is too much.if only I could put negative stars.

Incredibly dismissive doctor who diagnosed me with fibromyalgia and then promptly told me there was nothing he could do about the debilitating pain I experience every day because I was “too young” to be looking at pain relief. Suggested instead that I take regular walks.

Reception staff lovely, Dr hopeless. Asked what do you want me to do and wouldn't write the pain prescription. And was so rude too.

A disappointing experience, I was hoping to find a pain specialist who could see past medication stigma to have an understanding what has been working and what else I can do to improve my well-being I got only the opposite of this. I felt this Dr answered questions for me that I didn't relate too and wasn't true to my experience. If you are looking for a one way treatment for pain management this could be beneficial it just wasn't for me.

I saw Clayton Thomas after suffering for 10 years with debilitating pain. He was dismissive and unhelpful. He diagnosed me with having fibromyalgia, even after I pointed out my symptoms weren't in line with that condition. He refused to do any tests to investigate the issue further.
Two years down the track I finally found a specialist willing to do his job thoroughly, and after multiple tests I was diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome, and TMD, with dysfunction and severe osteoarthritis in both joints.

Fantastic specialists that really do want to help with your pain. I had ten years of frustration, trying to get help.
Until I was referred to melb pain group
Now my life has gone back to sort of normal. Can't praise the friendly staff and docs enough.

I made an appointment to be seen in mid August. I had waited two months to be able to get an appointment, but had expected as such to see a specialist. Received a confirmation text on the Friday before my appointment and responded with confirmation. Two days before my appointment, I received a call to say my appointment has been cancelled and needs to be rescheduled. The receptionist had me on hold for at least 5 minutes and, being at work myself, I ended up having to hang up. When calling back to reschedule, reception were extremely unhelpful and unaccommodating and was told I'd have to wait another 3 months to be seen. Not on considering the cancellation of my appointment was on their end and not mine. I recommend asking your referring doctor to refer you elsewhere, which is what I have now done.

Very happy with Melbourne pain group. I have been taking my husband there for almost 10 years and find them very helpful, they have given him more options in pain relief than any other specialists have been to. They are also up with the latest treatments and procedures for pain.
We have never had appointments cancalled, changed or messed up by them, always recieve a text a week or so before reminding us and asking is to confirm.

Dropped in the referral a week ago. Was supposed to be contacted for an appointment within a few days. One week later the desk has no idea about the referral and are still 'chasing it up with the girls'.

I was in pain every day taking up to 500 pills a month and went over to Melbourne Pain Group and had a ketamine infusion and have had almost no pain in five months and have stopped all pain meds.

Amazing doctors and have never felt so understood. First people to not dismiss me without listening and the best bedside manner. I recommend anyone to go and see Dr Thomas or his team. Have battled leg pain for 18 years and today is the first day I've felt optimistic about the future in years. Do yourself a favour and book in. Wish I'd done it sooner. Thanks Dr Thomas.

After 5+ years and visiting close to 100 doctors, Daniel has been by far the worst Dr I have seen. I am on methadone for my pain because no doctor will prescribe me pain killers. I have lumbar disc disease with sciatica, chronic lower back and leg pain. In order to get methadone, I had to lie, telling a Dr I was addicted to heroin when I have never touched it. Every day I visit a chemist with heroin addicts so I can get a single dose. Previous to the methadone, pain ruled my life, which lead to losing my job of 4.5 years, losing relationships, living below the poverty line etc. I was not able to function on even the most basic level for 3 years.

I discussed my past medications with Daniel including methadone and he advised that there is nothing he can offer me. I requested a script for methadone so I could pay the PBS price, which is $5.80, Currently I pay $120 a month and as I am on a disability pension this a lot of my budget. Daniel refused to help and went on to insist I stop all opiate based treatments, knowing that I have no alternative medication that reduces my pain. I mentioned to Daniel that no one has explored other opiate treatment plans with me and I am eager to see if there is a possibility of achieving better results. Daniel again refused to discuss this option with me stating the risk of addiction is too high and that any opiate treatment would not be effective for my condition as opiates normally have no effect.

So regardless of the fact that methadone has been the only medication to offer me any reduction in pain, no treatment options were discussed for any medications containing opiates. Daniel then ended the consultation stating that he can offer me no help as I have tried all medications he would normally prescribe to someone with nerve pain and that my best course of action is to cease ALL analgesic treatments.

At this stage I was holding back tears and anger, the only thing stopping me from breaking down in his office was the shock of what I had just heard. I pleaded with Daniel, explaining to him how my life has changed since my condition started and gradually worsened, but this had no effect on Daniel. I asked Daniel if he has lost his job due to chronic pain, if he has lost relationships due to chronic pain, lost the ability to do any of this hobbies, lost his social life, lost his money, had to sell his possessions to live, if he has had to claim bankruptcy.

His response to this was 'I don't believe that is relevant. '
Again, I was shocked by his response, from someone that is a specialist in the treatment of chronic pain! A pain specialist that has no bearing on how the amount and severity of a patients pain changes all aspects of their life will not be able to effectively treat someone for the very issue for which they seek the service of a 'pain specialist'. Leaving the clinic I'm left with the feeling that its ok for a patient to be in debilitating pain, even if this means losing everything important to that person, including their sanity and a roof over their head, as long as the patient is not on a medication that could be considered addictive, yet most, if not all medications subscribed by doctors are by definition addictive. Antidepressants are addictive and if you were to stop taking them without tapering, you would go through horrible withdrawals.

Methadone is considered addictive, I never feel the need to take more prescribed and I can and do regularly miss two doses to check if my pain levels have changed in any way after trying a new medication.

I find the fact that a medication that is proven to be working is being ignored by the doctor because its not something normally used for nerve pain and because it has addictive properties is appalling. For me to have to wait over a month for this appointment and to be charged hundreds of dollars to be treated this way is disgusting. Now I wait in public health system which I have been in cue for a year and a half, paying $120 a month for a medication that could be prescribed to me by Daniel, but has been refused.
