Years ago when I went to this school, I met an ableist teacher. She said a few times autistic people had something wrong with them. I tried to change classes and she confronted me about it and discouraged me about it because she wanted me to think I would regret it. Was at montessori brighton for a year and left with more trauma and emotional baggage then I entered with. I’d have panick attacks every morning and would be scared to show up to school crying, because it was one of the many things I would get in trouble for. My mum had to buy eyedrops so my eyes wouldn’t look so sore from crying in the morning before I went into school.

Both my sons attend Melbourne Montessori and it has been a eye opener to what children are capable of when given individual space, time and encouragement to learn. They have both thrived in this well balanced environment and developed this deep love of learning that I know that they will carry for the rest of their lives.

Throughout my four-year tenure at Melbourne Montessori, I found myself subjected to an alarming degree of verbal abuse from my teachers. To my dismay, it seemed as though they harbored a personal animosity towards me, targeting me relentlessly with their hurtful words. The constant belittlement, unjust blame, and relentless efforts to demean me took a profound toll on my emotional well-being. Unfortunately, reaching out for support proved futile, as my pleas for intervention fell on deaf ears.

The Deposition of the Deputy Principal:
Adding fuel to the already burning fire, the Deputy Principal, who was ultimately dismissed/fired, further exacerbated the negative atmosphere at the school. His treatment of students was nothing short of abhorrent, with verbal abuse becoming an all-too-common occurrence. Astonishingly, I became a favored target of his verbal assaults, enduring his hurtful words on numerous occasions. The long-lasting impact of such treatment by a figure of authority cannot be understated, as the trauma inflicted by those in power often takes a considerable amount of time to heal.

Lack of Support and Emotional Toll:
One of the most disheartening aspects of my time at Melbourne Montessori was the glaring lack of support from my teachers. Instead of cultivating an environment conducive to growth and empathy, they perpetuated an unhealthy dynamic that left me feeling isolated and defenseless. Of particular concern was the English teacher, whose threats of physical harm were completely unacceptable within an educational setting. These instances, coupled with others where I was unjustly blamed and mistreated, further eroded my self-esteem and left me questioning my worth as a student.

The Turning Point and the Journey to Recovery:
The proverbial breaking point finally arrived during my final year at Melbourne Montessori when I mustered the courage to confide in my mother about the ongoing abuse. Following a heartfelt conversation, we collectively decided that it was in my best interest to seek a healthier and more supportive educational environment. This pivotal change proved transformative, as I experienced a remarkable improvement in my academic performance. The absence of verbal abuse and the presence of supportive teachers played a pivotal role in my newfound success, allowing me to truly thrive academically.

My son started here at 3 and now in his final primary school year. We have absolutely loved what Montessori have provided for our son. He has thrived, grown and developed a love of learning that hopefully he carries this through to his high school years and beyond. Our son has also loved his experience and time there. We are most appreciative of what the school and teachers have provided. Love the Montessori approach!

Very dissatisfied with the lack of circulating money given to the school by parents.very disappointed by the lack of time given to excursions and events will the school.

Exceptional leadership within this school shines through as the teachers and community have obviously a clear grasp of the power of education to shape the future. Highly recommended school in Melbourne. Would certainly send my children there.

This school is very good. It has a very positive community, and very friendly teachers. I would recommend.

Fantastic school to work at. Very supportive management that invests in staff training. Small class sizes are fantastic. I actually get to know my students and can tailor my teaching to suit their specific needs.

We enrolled our 2 year old toddler at this school for the early learner class and paid the $200 dollar enrolment fee. We had orientation today and arrived late as our little one didn't sleep all night (which is completely understandable for toddlers), and we even called to say we were late, and when we arrived the lady was not very understandable and completely shrugged us away for being late. For god sake, he is a toddler. I didn't know that this school was run like a NAZI concentration camp. Truly disappointed. I'm not sending my son to this school and if you're planning on sending your kids do your research first. I hope this helps with your decision.
