One bad principal is replaced by a worse one at this once-prestigious school. The sad demise in quality is the unfortunate consequence of leadership with no idea of how to lead. They seem to have forgotten that their purpose is to educate, to provide social and moral guidance and to help steer the ambitions of enthusiastic young women. Instead, they patronise, punish and pander in all the wrong ways and in all the wrong directions for an adolescent population. The most recent principal is the most dubious so far. She is obsequious and spiteful in turns towards students, completely unaware of what standards should comprise in a well-regarded school with a past reputation worth preserving. You can't put the uneducated in charge of educating - it doesn't make any sense. This school has lost sight of its own identity, and, as a result, has lost touch with its once exciting spirit.

I went to this school for 4 years and i’m so thankful to be leaving, i only liked 2 teachers the rest were always rude for no reason, the school loves to pick favourites for no reason like everyone should be listened to but no ms O’connell only cared about the reputation of the school which is awful.they could not care less about the well-being of students and only care about uniform, quite frankly it’s disgusting the way these grown adults handle young teens. I was having an issue with a medical condition i have and i got told that i was being dramatic by the substitute teacher i had, i was also told that i “can’t have real issues” because i’m not part of the LGBTQ+ community.i feel the school was ruined when ms O’connell became assistant principal (or whatever her role is) and when ms money left

please don’t allow ur daughters to go to this school, disgusting school

Look, obviously there's going to be issues like at every high school (harsh uniform policies, rude teachers & students, vaping in the toilets etc.), that's just a given – even I didn't like this school at times. But despite all that, in hindsight, this school is probably one of the better public schools out there. Most of the girls are respectful and inclusive (despite some cliques). When I was there, it felt like all the students were united, even if you didn't know them super well, which is a reason why being an all-girls school was really good for me personally. I never had a problem with bullying despite being on the shy/quiet side.

Some teachers were some of the most supportive I've seen from a school, especially in VCE, but I think most of them have left by now which is really sad. Some of the newer teachers were pretty bad (especially in yr 12) & others were indifferent, but hopefully they can find their feet with more experience.

Overall, this school was really good for me as a quiet achiever, I think it's a great alternative to the snobbery of private schools & cliqueness of co-ed if you want to do well.

But obviously, there's a lot of room to improve in regards to student support & I'm not sure what it's like now with the new principal and everything. A bit more encouragement from teachers & staff would probably help out the students a lot, especially after all the chaos of covid.

Worst school I’ve ever attended, the teachers absolutely don’t care about bullying and instead they only care about your socks being a certain length or your hair colour

An outstanding educational all girls school. One of 5 semi-select schools in Melbourne. Situated on the banks of the Yarra the students are offered a private school education for a fraction of the cost. Whether rowing, dance, STEM or outdoor education the teachers are dedicated, professional and constantly go beyond. My daughter can email a teacher with a question at 8pm on Sunday and get the answer back that night.

I used to go to this is school and let's just say it's not worth enrolling your daughter into this school.

I started this school from year 7 - 8 (stayed for 2 weeks in yr 9) from 2018 to 2019, I being an Asian Australian I have experienced the most appalling racist comments from both staff and students from this school. I was silenced by the teachers and principles for just speaking up against for the emotional and mental trauma I had dealt from the constant racist comments and bullying, I brought up to a Year Coordinator that a staff had made a racist comment against me and the Coordinator just shrugged her shoulders and said "not my issue".

This school only cares for:
- Uniform
- Natural hair colour policy
- Status (especially from the media)

I want to conclude that this school has made me realised that students shouldn't feel wrong for standing up for their rights but also speak up, this school has made my mental health worse.
I BEG you to never send a child here it's not WORTH ANYTHING.

Here are the list of teachers who have made racist comments towards me:
- Wendy Murray
- Brent Houghten
- Catherine Walkear
- Shaunagh O'Connell
- Isabella Sword
- Robyn RYCHNER-WILSON
- Christopher JURGENS

This school is trash, bathrooms smell fruity and teachers only care about uniforms and vaping and not students education and wellbeing. My daughter was bullied for over 5 years at this school and teachers did nothing but tell her to fix her skirt, do better and fix bullying.

Used the court to play indoor soccer and it is good, the people that manage the ganes do that pretty well.

I would rather have someone shoot me in the head with a nail gun, repeatedly, then ever enrol myself in this school again.

Excellent academic level - great arts- sport - and facilities are excellent - my eldest daughter achieved an excellent ATAR and gained entry into Engineering at University. My youngest is there and enjoys the Airforce Cadet program, dance, leadership opportunities, and the school musical.

This place is feudal. If you are connected to hiring managers you can get a job, no matter if you are qualified in the area. Would you call that corruption? Well its not nepotism because it's not their money. Let's look in to this step by step.

I have been working with alumni from Melbourne Girls' College this school year. I have met alumni in every vocation from engineers to nannies to lawyers, retail clerks, doctors, teachers, stay at home moms, university students, business consultants, insurance executives, media consultants, artists, journalists, volunteers and more.

Careers, and the prep that obviously began at MGC for many of these women, are important, of course. However, I have been most impressed with the character of these former students. As a teacher myself, I know that character education starts in the home and is reinforced in school. MGC helps grow respectful, critical thinkers. There are so many good things happening amongst this group of alumni.

MGC is doing something right - and it shows in the quality character of its alumni.

My child went to this school for 3 years then i realised how much of a bad and toxic school it is! All they care about is uniform they didn't care that she was failing classes and life.then when they finally started to care she was having troubles in life they locked her out of the wellbeing center! The wellbeing center is for kids struggling isn't it? Well apparently not.my daughter also got bullied for liking the same gender by students and TEACHERS.they are nice to who they want to be but when it comes to individuals they dont care.the teachers also have no respect. DO NOT recomoned.

I'm a student here and I love the school! There's do much to try and do and the teachers/students are really great. Almost all the students Iare kind and friendly and willing to help you whenever you need and the teachers are there for you too. You can learn so much and have so much fun. I would highly recommend checking it out!
