Melbourne Drum Lessons

Stephen is a fantastic teacher. I hadn't played drums for a couple of years before our first lesson, but very quickly he was able to put together a structured lesson plan that helped me to read music and go through different rudiments. His knowledge and enthusiasm has definitely helped me further me ability and confidence around the kit. And he's a really nice guy!

My name is Andre and I have five years experience playing bass and often perform in blues jam sessions around Melbourne.

As an enthusiast of groovy music like Funk, R&B and jazz myself, I think Stephen’s teaching method really conveys to students how to properly GROOVE.

I’ve learned a bit of drumming before and I hit the drums really hard (my previous drum teacher never mentioned about that), Stephen taught me how to play in a relaxed manner and introduce to me a counting method, which actually helps me not only in drumming, but also in bass playing.

With Stephen’s method I start to combine drumming hands with motion of my body, my playing becomes a bit more dynamic.

Having had over 30 lessons from Stephen in the past couple of years (Brisbane), I can give my full recommendation for him as a teacher.

His wide range of experience and abilities enabled him to cater to pretty much any requests I threw at him. I'm a working drummer in a few different bands and am always wanting to grow my "toolbox", and Stephen has been a great coach and sounding board for this.

His having spent extensive amounts of time overseas, I believe, has developed his personality and teaching style to one that is encouraging and always positive, even when formative feedback was required. It really is all in the delivery, and Stephen does this very well.

Stephen is a genuine, trustworthy theaxher who genuinely pays attention to his clients and works with and for them. This can be hard to find in what is quockly becoming a somewhat saturated market, and I'm glad I found it in him.
