Always enjoy a visit here for a glass of wine and a cheese platter. Happy hour wines really good value. Fantastic selection of wines and a new wine club to join!

We were drawn in by the layout, thought it would be a great place for us to get a steak as it was the ‘chefs recommendation. ’ Unfortunately not for us… Ordered two steaks, cold as soon as it hit the table, were way overdone for the temperature we ordered, dry and chewy like a piece of rubber. No one came to check on our meals, we had no option but to eat it all as we were starving and on a time constraint. Very disappointed.

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, quick to get the food out. However the gnocchi was passable, and the cheeseburger wasn't very nice.

A lot of the other platters and meals that came out for other people looked quite nice, but we did not experience that.

Beautiful sparkling rosé on their by the glass list. Great outdoor seating area.
We ordered the 3 cheese platter and it was great value - gorgeous cheeses. Particularly liked the cheddar.
Next time would love to look through their wine by the bottle selection in their store.

Melbourne Cellar Door helped host my dad's 60th in April. Mark and his team were very accommodating to our requirements and how we wanted the cocktail party to run. Food and wine was fabulous very flexible options and reasonably priced.
The venue had its own beautiful wine cellar decor we did not even need to decorate
big thank you to the team we would definitely consider Melbourne Cellar Door for another event

Had farewell drinks for a colleague there. Really reasonable prices for a city watering hole. Nice atmosphere; e could have a great conversation while enjoying the wine. And always love the idea of being able to pick out the bottles you want. Decent mix of entry level and premium wines. Nice nibbles to even though they took a while to come out.

CASUAL DINING IN PUB-LIKE ENVIRONMENT
Large bar and casual eatery in South Wharf.
Good range of meat, pasta and vegetarian dishes.
Indoor and outdoor tables as well as long benches for group drinking / dining. Staff are friendly.
Service is not exactly fast so probably not a good option for that quick bite.
All on one level with no steps so people with mobility issues should be fine.

I've had multiple birthdays at Melbourne Cellar Door and have been a customer there for years. This weekend we were refused service and effectively kicked out because we had a pram. The waitress, Hannah, said it was an OHS issue but she clearly had no idea what she was talking about. She made no efforts to deal with the situation appropriately. I made a private complaint to the restaurant and the manager said he would investigate but as expected I've not heard back, so I am now writing this review. This restaurant is not family friendly and I will never visit this restaurant again. I am appalled how they can disregard the feelings of loyal customers and make us feel like second class citizens, just because we have a pram that takes up space.

Edit: The below response is defamatory and untrue - my wife was a witness to everything that happened, and there was absolutely no foul language, abuse, aggression or rudeness. It is really pathetic that a business would make up things to try and excuse or cover their unacceptable behaviour.

Lovely venue tucked away in South Wharf precinct Friendly staff, great selection of wines. Their glassware is Reidel which is a lovely touch. Happy hour wine special of 2 glasses for $13.00 is excellent.

Really enjoy popping into the Melbourne cellar door. They have a wide range of wines and delicious snacks. We ordered the ploughman board - great value. Great spot to enjoy a few hours when you’re in the city.
