I ordered several plants with enough time for the estimated packing time and shipping time to QLD. I received a call saying one of my plants was out of stock they would send it later or I could get a refund but they would send everything else that day. I waited 5 business days and I received no shipping details. I called to get an update, they apologised apparently the order wasn't sent through to the packing team. It was too late to send that day but they did then express ship it free of charge the next day. The plants to QLD in good health. I was a little annoyed that I had to chase them up but I am relieved that they express shipped it.

Great product, arrived promptly in perfect condition. Thrilled with my order and hoping to purchase again in future.

Absolutely terrible customer service. Please don’t advertise hampers for Christmas if you can’t fulfil orders. I placed an order for click and collect, was advised it wouldn’t be ready. They offered to post it and guaranteed it would arrive by Christmas. I asked several times for a tracking number. The company just stopped responding to my emails and, unsurprisingly, the item never arrived for Christmas (and still hasn’t).

We gave some native plants for Christmas to relatives - it turns out it's got myrtle rust on it, a deadly fungus that means we'll have to dispose of the plants. I was expecting much better than this.

Such a fabulous place to explore and shop for edible native plants. The boys were so helpful and willing to share their knowledge and expertise of all of the plants. I have been following them on Instagram for quite a while but this was my first visit and, once I’ve planted my first haul, I will be back to source more wonderfully fascinating plants for my garden. Thanks Hayden - love your work

Update:

After a few emails with Melbourne Bushfood I was offered replacement plants for the ones that arrived in poor condition. I have just received the replacements and they were much better packaged and a lot healthier than the previous delivery.

They were still dry after being sent on a Wednesday and spending the weekend waiting for delivery on a Monday.

Thank you Marivic for your assistance.

Original review:

Plants arrive poorly packaged with dirt spilled throughout the box. Even the postie mentioned the soil coming out of the box when he delivered it.

Upon opening, the plants were very dry with very little soil even when considering what was spilt and roots exposed. 2 plants were completely dried out and I’m assuming dead.

I guess it was due to it being shipped on a Tuesday and taking a week to arrive.

Very disappointed as I was really forward to adding these plants to my native food forest. Doubt I’ll even buy from them again, which is disappointing as their website and concept looked very promising.

This business is exactly what the name means & it’s brilliant. I’ve previously purchased 3 other plants from them & I can’t find a fault is anything

I’ve contacted them regarding feeding them, received a reply inside an hour.
When they arrive, the plants are so well packed & the plants so healthy, It’s pure joy when I receive these plants. I had read & heard about a native plants their benefits & for eating, medicinal properties.
I’m now in a little one bedroom unit with not much room & I’ve been told there are mine trainings in the garden beds, so everything I plant has to be grown in pots. I can’t wait to taste the fruit once it’s grown. I’ll be updating how it it’s growing on their face book page.

Seriously though, if you want to have native plants buy them at Melb Bushfoods/Native Foods & Native Plant Nursery. On an awesome note they wil entice native birds into your garden (that’s a bonus for me)

The pic is the night after it arrived

Good morning,

I just wanted to let you know that I am very happy with the assorted plants
that I ordered from you and am excited to see them grow and fruit.
I really like the grow bags I ordered as well. The handles make it easier
for me to move them around.

Kind regards

Anne

Love the diversity that this small business brings.
A niche shop that the multi national hardware stores simply can't emulate.

Plants finally turned up, all except 3 were laying in the boxes roots exposed. 2 have all brown leaves, so hopefully they survive, 1 has some sort of bug damage & I had to trim the affected leaves. Sorry but I won’t be buying from here again.

Finally received plants, they all arrived in poor condition, have planted some hoping they survive. Others were completely dead.
Have emailed twice with photos and haven't had a response.
So I guess the 1 star is both for customer service and product

Update: two weeks later I have emailed again and still being ignored

Nursery at the front and warehouse at the back, the shop is just a little stand but make sure to check with them if they have anything you’re interested in (check website for full list of products) because no all is being displayed.

This business used to run a Facebook group for people to talk about Bushfood in Melbourne. People didn’t realise the group was run by this business, and as soon as conversations became critical of their business, they shut the group down. This is so childish. Deal with the concerns or hand the group over to someone else, don’t just throw a tantrum.

Incredible experience overall, staff really made me feel welcome and explained me all about their plants and which ones where the best for me. I didn't get to buy any of their food products, but I'll for sure be back for those. 5/5

Ordered plants from this site payed for express postage but still took 8 days to arrive the raspberry plant was too big for the box but was jammed in there and when we unpacked the plants the top of the raspberry was damaged
Plants were very dry I understand this due to shipping but my order was packed the next day and not shipped for at 6 days afterwards
Have emailed over 5 days ago with pictures of plant but no response still
Unfortunately the raspberry didn’t survive
The other plants were okay but very dry
Have emailed a few times and only received a automated response here is my order number

EXCITING! Your Bushfood order #ON-246106 is about to ship!

I have bought around 30 plants over the last 6 months or so. Initially I was a little sceptical of plants-by-post but I have always received them in good condition, one lot making it through a postal delay of nearly 2 weeks.
Trackable postage and email updates of order status are very good.
I have no hesitation in recommending Melbourne Bushfoods.
Cheers

Very happy with quick response and resolution to a query I made through Caleb. I love the business model of Melbourne Bushfood and their wonderful products. I’ve purchased plants twice through MB and have been surprised by the speed of delivery to central VIC. Would highly recommend this enterprise.

Every plant I’ve recieved, and there have been over 20 now, has been happy, healthy, and lovingly packed. They have all transplanted beautifully and there’s such an amazing range. I also highly recommend the strawberry gum syrup.
Absolutely love these guys.

So far I've bought 13 native fruit plants and I'm super happy with the service and quality of the plants.

Looking forward to tasting the first fruits.
