Medhurst Cellar Door & Kitchen reviews
35 I would like to thank the team.
The professional and very friendly atmosphere was completed and executed extremely well by the staff.
The chef James is really settling in to his environment and it shows with amazing flavours and combinations of local produce and his own personal garden to palate philosophy.
Indy and the FOH were really attentive and just a pleasure to be served by.
Highlight wines on the day would be the rosè, pinot and YRB
Such a great winery that is not as well known and should be. In the back of Gruyere. Where's Gruyere? A hidden gem. I grew up in Gruyere. Yes I'm biased.
I love the rosé best ever
Thanx Simon.
Modern decors at the cellar door and restaurant with spectacular tasting wines! Must try the rose and YRB. So good that we ordered 6 bottles of different variety after the tasting to be sent back to our home country. The vineyards are also super instagrammable! Have to come back one day to try the food!
The nicest little spot for a casual lunch in the Yarra Valley. The food was 10/10, could not find a fault with it. Will 100% be back to visit!
What a beautiful property We chose to have a cheese board and some wine. Disappointed that we couldn’t do a tasting at the same time as the food.
Could not fault a thing!
Delightful setting, wonderful food, wine and service. Warm indoor restaurant with an open fire, lovely on a cold day but just as nice in the warm weather sitting outside.
Third time there and highly recommend.
️ Mr Yo who is not only friendly, very engaging, knowledgeable yet humble sommelier and anticipating our needs. KEEP it Up
The luxury décor and even the architecture of the restaurant building is incredibly notable.
Is very individual.we got Rose & Cabernet Sauvignon
Hunter expat Simon Steele is producing some extraordinary Chardonnay and was well rated at the recent Yarra Valley wine awards with trophies for best Chardonnay, best white and best wine at show in a very competitive field. So we made a beeline for the shadows and we're definitely not disappointed. In fact we might have picked up the last of the trophy winning Wines. Shane was a charming and attentive host and talk us through a well-paced range of what they do best. The toughest decision was what wine to smash over the next few few days and what to bring home. Thanks team.
It was amazing to have the wine tasting journey with Shaun. He knows all the wines really well. It comes with the house made feta cheese and the olive, perfect pairing snacks to go with the great wines. Def need to visit for their limited release
Amazing lunch at Medhurst from start to finish. Food and wine was incredible and beautifully executed with attention to detail. Customer service was outstanding also. And the view from the restaurant is spectacular.
Highly recommend and will definitely visit again.
Soooo beautiful! Highly recommend the grazing lunch platter and a wine. The service was bang on and the coffee’s great too! Could have sat there all day!
Delectable vegetarian food which is a real plus, light refreshing wines. Great ambience with beautiful architecturally designed buildings.
Food was ok, the kind you'd have at a catered wedding. Wines ok.deserving of 3 stars if it wasn't so spenny
Good wine and beautiful surrounds. But from the outset, the managers attitude was abrasive -over the phone when there was a confusion with the booking and throughout our visit he was rude and inflexible. 1 staff member just as rude and another clearly intimidated by him. Grazing plates were overpriced and overall it was an uncomfortable experience. Having brought friends up from the other side of the city, boasting of Yarra Valley wineries/estates the visit to Medhurst was the most disappointing of our 3 venue tour!
Had lunch on Saturday and I can only describe our experience as Soso.
The wine is ok but the tasting experience was boring as the lady host seemed uninterested. Also It cost $10/ per person.
Had to ask for the “seeded bread loaf” which is entree on the prepaid set menu but came out as white loaf- at that stage we couldn’t be bothered asking again.
My husband’s salmon’s full of bones which really annoyed him.
The restaurant is set in a small space and very noisy.
The only good thing is the waiter and waitress did fantastic job.
Overall, would not recommend considering there are so many beautiful places in Yarra valley and will not return.
Ahhhh the tranquility! A serene and secluded winery off the main drag of ‘mainstream’ ones. The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Wine was superb and Rose was the best (don’t normally drink it, but I thought I’d try their multi-award winner). We had a grazing board and there was more than enough food to enjoy. It was lovely to be seated on the lawn with a fabulous view, stunning architecture and interesting sculptures to admire. Would love to go back again.
Loved this place! The shared menu was absolutely delicious, great value for money and the wine is one of the best I’ve tried in Australia so far. Shane and all other staff were so welcoming, couldn’t ask for better service. Will definitely be back! Thank you
A little slice of heaven. Setting, food, wine, service. Just wonderful. We had grazing platter, modified for dietary requirements. All delicious, however the dish of fried oysters mushrooms and beetroot pate were highlights. Do yourself a favour and book in for some lunch. Can recommend the rose.
Shane was exceptional and a great character. He gave us a great tasting, explaining all of the wines. Would recommend xxx
What a find! I needed a last minute table for lunch for 8 in the Yarra Valley and everything was booked out until I stumbled on this gem. I must have got the last table as it too was booked out while we were there. A.mazing! Definitely now our favourite winery/restaurant in the Yarra Valley. Great service, Kit was lovely and looked after us perfectly, all the staff were terrific. And the food! I was a little worried originally as it is a set, shared menu and a few of the dishes were possibly a little out of my comfort zone but fear not! They were all incredible. Absolutely delicious! Who knew a potato could almost be the star of the show! The view is lovely, couldn't wait to take a glass of wine outside and just relax in the outdoor area. The wine is devine by the way. The Rose was my favourite. We could have spent all day there. Thanks team! Cant wait to come back.
