I am upset to have to place this assessment but feel I must.
I have had Xmas turkey and ham from Meatsmith for some years with
Juicy, succulent meats each time up til now.
The stuffed turkey breast was absolutely tasteless and looked worryingly like processed meat.
Marinaded for 36 hours and cooked to an internal temp of 65 degrees - yet bland tasteless and ‘processed dry!
The 1/2 leg of glazed ham on the shank was.tasteless. Felt like sawdust, dry.
A supermarket ham would taste so much better
Sorry Meatsmith but never again.
South Melbourne market next year
PS - the ‘traditional gravy’ was a disgrace - watery, tasteless - my son asked did I use stock instead of gravy!

The butchers may vehemently deny the above but …they know I’m telling the truth

Always been a Meatsmith fan but been disappointed recently. $30 for 1kg of minced beef is a bit mental, compared to comparable places in the low $20s. Seems like a massive jump up in recent times. Especially given the mince is full of fat, to the extent the meat is swimming in it when I've fried it off.

Last time I got chicken breast, it was stinking when I got it home and although the deli meats are pretty yum, I was shocked when buying the pre-packaged ham recently just how many additives are in it. Pretty poor form for a butcher, where you'd expect minimal additives. Staff are usually friendly though and they have a great range, hence the two stars. This butcher is a convenient location for me but the drop in quality of late will lead me to going further afield.

Ok. So I officially found the best black pudding in Melbourne @ Meatsmith. I'm Eastern European and I like weird stuff. I've seen many meat shops taken over fro German or Austrian butchers (same for bakeries) last 20 years here in Melbourne. This is the PERFECT example of how to do it and exceed the previous well establish owners! Not to mention the lamb chops, Australian olives and the Wallace relish to die for!

Two of the best steaks my wife and I have ever eaten, we also tried the excellent house made sausages. With a very well thought out grocery section as well, this has to be one of the best butchers in the country.

Incredibly fresh produce, clean to the point of being spartan and exceptionally friendly service. Add the small touches (like a fine condiment selection and some delicious gins) as well as all the tech and advice on how best to cook your chosen cuts, and you have what is quite possibly the best butchers in Melbourne.

Try the sausages.

I’ve been there once and had a great experience with friendly staff. Also the shop is very cute and tidy, this is something that St Kilda needs!

I always come here for the highest quality beef, they have the best rib eyes sourced from Victoria. Delicious. Great service too.

My husband received a delivery for Father’s Day.
The scotch fillet was wonderful as was the bacon. He said the Tempranillo was a great match for the steak. Thanks, a great gift from our sons!

Great customer service and friendly assistance. Fresh, beautiful meat and a small selection of wines. Lovely little spot.

Meatsmith has taken the old school charm of Gruners Butcher and arced it up showcasing fantastic and high quality meats and condiments. Lucky enough to score a Rockwell and Sons double cheeseburger box. Another great addition to StKilda

Top Shelf. Never disappoints and always throws a curveball cut you'd never think of.
The butcher's are so friendly and helpful.

We collected our online order yesterday. Everything we ordered tasted amazing but that pastrami is on whole nother level! Yum!
Would definitely visit this butcher again in the near future.

Prices were high compared to supermarkets and the quality was lower. Pork mince was extremely fatty - looked like sausage mix. It was stored out back so I didn't see it until I'd already paid. Chicken thighs looked ok in the window, but after purchasing and arriving home I discovered the underside had a solid slab of fat that hadn't been trimmed off. I could easily remove it with my fingers so it seems it was left on intentionally to add weight. Supermarket thighs are trimmed.

I want to support local business but I will find another small butcher to support. These people are dishonest.

This ladies are really rude, also they charge me $45 per kg even though it say $32 per kg on the website, they didn't have any tag on the meat they sold me.pretty annoying. I don't know why this employees are so unhappy though, it would be good to give them a raise and make them happy or find new employees, but they make me feel like I'm not welcome there.

Love the Meatsmith and the quality of the products there. I love that you can buy great meat at such a wide range of $. The wine in-store is also superb and can save you an extra trip to the bottle shop. I shop here often and have never had anything other than great friendly service.

Lady serving us on Sunday June 9 at 340pm is arrogant. She should be injecting euthanasia into patients with severe pain to put people out their misery.cause that's what I felt leaving the place. Never go back ever again. Good products but terrible service by her.
