Had a family pack here with the girlfriend. Best charcoal chicken I’ve ever had. David was great!

The chicken was juicy and owner David was super friendly! The coleslaw and scalloped potatoes was also very tasty. Will definitely be back!

REVIEW:
We chose to dine in and really soak up the ambience at McManos chicken bar. ️
It's not built for dine in service, as we were armed with the task of cutting through 1/2 the chicken with a plastic knife. Luckily, when it got difficult at the bone, it was soft enough to be torn apart.
Everything was also presented in plastic tubs.
Nonetheless, the plates were durable, and it was nice to see the chips be made fresh on hand.

My interest was initially piqued because McManos was crowned best chips in 2019. Unfortunately, the crinkle cut chips are replaced with your standard thick cut fries. They were good with chicken salt, but not as unique as I was hoping for.
The chicken skin is crispy and immersed with salt and flavour, while the meat itself is juicy. The best part is the stuffing, herby and moist, which is just the way it should be done.
On to the sides, the gravy was a little gloopy, but it was better to have than none.

Overall, the food was relatively mid, but it has an appealing affordable price tag. Can see why there were so many people lining up and around, keen to get a takeaway box.

Pretty disappointing to have a $5 minimum for EFT and then still charge 10 cents on a $9.5 transaction.

I don’t really understand why this chicken shop has such great reviews.yeah the chips are good, but that’s about it. Chicken is average, no vegetable options besides the sloppy cream filled scolloped potatoes, and the guy that works there is rude… as a seddon local this is an honest review. I honestly wish it was good. But I’ll continue to get my chicken from footscray or Maidstone.

Chicken was so pink it was almost raw. When i took it back he tried to tell me it was cooked.what a joke.food poising.

Timeless. This reminds me of the places I would go as a little kid. It’s like it’s been untouched by time. I adore the character and David and hope it stays just the way it is. Great price, classic food, best chips I’ve ever had in my life.

David has been my Local Roast chicken shop for over two decades. Never had a bad meal here. Always fresh and the chicken is never dry. Also has the best hot chips in town!

Don’t let the old school interior and exterior fool you, this place has been around forever and has the best hot chips in town (as voted in a 2019 Nova100 Poll) made fresh to order and a delicious chicken schnitty roll. When I asked what’s in it, the owner goes “nothing”. Cheese, Mayo, chicken, simple. Perfect schnitzel, soft bun, I personally enjoy mine with more fillings but for what it was, delish.

Thank you David, for opening my eyes. Hands down the best chips I have ever had. Perfect chips that have the crunch you are looking for a chop combined with beautiful soft potato. David also served me a mean chicken roll which was also on par. I will definitely be taking the hour long trip to see you again:)

Thought we'd try their chips based on reviews and weren't disappointed. A bit of a wait for our order but the chips were crispy and perfectly salted.too good that I burnt my tongue as I couldn't wait for them to cool ‍️

Best hot chips in Melbourne! They fry the chips fresh, toss them in a tray with a generous helping of chicken salt while they still have the oil coating, with the result being the crunchiest, well flavoured chips ever! Chicken is also great, brined and full of flavour. What a local gem
