McKellar Centre reviews
30Lovely caring staff at the Pallative Care unit. Looked after my dad and treated him with the respect and dignity he deserved. Were very supportive to the family during this very traumatic time. Thankyou
I was very unwell and the staff there were I was, are top notch. Didn't like some of the ethics of the DRS there and the food was just disgusting, even the hospital food is better.
New visit September 2022 until May 2023. At first I was treated great but after a while I was treated as if I had just stolen there car. Manly the nurses not alĺ off them just groups, they must get à kick out of abusing disabled people.
That's just disappointing and childish, the head of them just laughs about it.no pain relief for people in pain. Just remember you don't have to do anything they asķ you.
Don’t even think about doing a grad year from here, if you are a nurse. You will work as a personal carer not as a endorsed nurse.it’s insane.
No empathy shown in the rehabilitation centre. They don’t care if a patient is in pain. They claim they should request pain relief themselves and yet when the buzzer is pressed, they do not attend to the patient. Some patients have language barriers. Some patients are stubborn, but that doesn’t mean you leave them to deal with pain.
My parent went in pretty healthy only needing physio after surgery, but 3 weeks later had to be transferred back to hospital due to their neglect. They had CoVid cases which my elderly parent ended up catching. This meant 2 weeks of isolation, no human contact, neglect. Their mental & physical health worsened. Didn’t even get the rehab they were suppose to.
There is NO screening process for CoVid to protect the patients.
These people are just another number & patient to you, but to us they’re loving family members.
I found this place had very friendly staff at pallative care was not manned at main reception on the weekend which I thought was strange but unfortunarley my friend passed away so I don't expect that I will ever go there again.
Too covid centric. Almost confrontational.
Since covids inception people think they are in charge of the last line of defence.
16/7/21 - I've made several attempts to contact aged care support by phone over the last 4 weeks to get support for my elderly mother, still waiting for a response, very poor service.
Lovely place for you relatives to spend their final days before hanging up the boots. Good carers and lovely surroundings. The food could be improved a bit though.
Xray reception has the worst unpolite attitude I've ever received. Think what might be wrong with people when you treat them like rubbish!?
Brilliant. The care and attention I have received at the Community Rehab.is excellent. Each staff member has not only been totally professional but kind and caring as well.
I was very unwell and the staff there were I was, are top notch. Didn't like some of the ethics of the DRS there and the food was just disgusting, even the hospital food is better.
My late husband was shown such kindness and respect.
All the staff, from admin, nurses, cleaners, to the tea ladies, all the ladies who did laundary. Everyone knows their rolls and go above and beyond to meet the personal needs of the patients in their care.
Thank you
My mother spent 4 weeks here having rehabilitation after a broken bone. The staff were all excellent, very caring, professional and thorough. If it's possible to enjoy rehab then this place makes it possible. A nice setting too and the cafe came in handy for a change of scenery on visits.
Incredibly lovely, caring, and helpful nursing staff at Wallace Lodge when my grandmother needed palliative care in her final months; and general rehabilitation ward when my grandfather sustained significant wounds on his ankles which required multiple surgeries (at Geeling Hospital, then transferred to McKellar after the initial post-op hospital stay), with excellent O. T team, dietitians, and physiotherapists.
Never wanted family to come to this but, they do care and for one place the food and choices are happily enjoyed. Happy family
Staff are hard working and great, most of the management couldn't say the same about! Facilities are excellent. However they charge far too much for parking for a piece of land that was DONATED to them over 60 years ago! They charge the underpaid hard working staff phenomenal amounts of money just to park for work, when they've owned the land outright for 60+ years, it's bloody criminal. If I was part of the McKellar family, I'd make a big fuss about it.
Friendly staff, easy parking that's free under 3 hours, good facilities. Some of the beds have lovely views of the outside greenery.
Great friendly staff, very caring for the patients and always keep family up to date on loved ones.
Very understanding team. Can't thank the ultrasound tech enough for her support during a difficult time.
Great to have the bmi facility so close to home and miss the hassle of parking in the city centre. Staff are very friendly.
