McDougall Playhouse Cafe reviews
19 We absolutely love this playcenter! We come most weeks and the kids always have a ball and the food and coffee is amazing never had an issue with staff, they are always welcoming, accommodating and very friendly. We recently had my sons 5th birthday party there and I would certainly book again.
We booked the nerf gun party and all the kids had a ball, young and older kids
Definitely recommend a visit! It's also the cleanest playcenter we have been too
Fantastic, nice staff, affordable great equipment, we have been going hear since my son was 7 months old, he’s turning 4 now, still loves going
The thing that lets this place down is the staff. They are strict and rude. At every other play centre I've been to as a parent you are allowed on the equipment to supervise. Not here. Also it's hard to explain to a toddler why they cannot go on something due to this reason.
There is a surcharge for everything paid on eftpos. I understand surcharges but on every single purchase. So try and purchase everything at once.
Some of the toys for the younger kids could also do with replacing, Broken cars and toy kitchen.
For the cost of this one, Crocs and others within 15mins are much better value.
I have tried this place a few times now in case I caught the staff on a bad day. But apparently it's just the way they are.
Surely somewhere that is meant to be to have fun should have happy staff? !
I had my sons 1st birthday here over the weekend. It was very last minute and they were happy to accommodate all the adults and kids with less than 2 hours notice and was very friendly in the process of organising as I was very stressed. Everyone enjoyed themselves and loved the play area for both toddlers and older children. Highly recommend!
Perfect place for kids birthday party. Friendly staff, heaps of room and affordable. Thank you for making our daughters 5th birthday very memorable.
Staff were friendly. Place is a bit small compared to other playcentre but still good for kids to have fun.
I had a horrible experience with me and my friends we were bullied by other Kids and all we did was go down a dirty slide and watch 2 cockroaches crawl around near the kitchen as people where bringing our food. Do not recommend
This place was fantiastc for my 15 month old. Plenty to do and very clean. The coffee was good also:)
I found McDougall Playhouse to be over-priced. The staff was indifferent with customers. Toilet bins overflowing and floors wet. The fans and aircons were not suitable for the size of the space and provided no relief. Do not go if you are trying to avoid the heat outside.
Great little place. You're working shanyn is amazingly friendly and helpful. Nice coffee and cakes
Not too bug so you are constantly hinting down your child. Great value for money especially with the in house menu
Free arts and crafts occasionally, food and coffee are up to scratch. Good range of equipment to keep kids of all ages interested. Fish tank is always a hit with my girls. Not a great deal of parking but I've never had an issue midweek.
Not a vast variety for the children!
Climb up, and go down a slide! Wow!
Found a couple of older staff members to be quite rude and arrogant!
Worth taking a longer drive elsewhere.
It has a good sized play equipment and the kids really enjoy it. The service staff could be a little friendlier though, no one seems like they want to be there, a few of us ordered coffee while at a kids party and the staff just put it on the table and walked off without telling anyone which one was which. The cafe prices are overpriced, I wouldn't recommend going there around lunch time because it will cost you a fortune
Absolutely loveee McDougalls, it's soo reasonable with thier prices and always have an awesome time with the kids not to mention there Coffee and Scones are heaven!
Great for littlies to early 10s.large assortment of activities. Parents well catered for. Many food and drink options for kids and adults.
5 stars for being a basic play centre, kid loves it.
Was really good aircon on a 40 degree day.
Just basic nibbles for food and coffee, not a place I would go for lunch it's just a place for the kids to run around in.
Play equipment was descent and the kids had a great time. The service left a lot for improvement though.
After writing a truthful review about my bad experience at this place, which the children love, the owner proceeded to lie about my experience here in response, saying i did not pay for my child. I cannot abide being called a liar and will not be bullied by the people who run this business. The facts of the story are: My young son attended a party, my daughter came in with me and DID NOT play while i chatted to parents for 20 minutes. My daughter begged me to play and i said NO because we were going to Bunnings, which we did. When i returned to pick up my son i let my daughter play for about 25 minutes, then was approached by this large man, who, extremely abruptly and rudely asked me to pay $5. Paying was never a concern for me, i was going to ask if it would cost anything at all, seeing as my son was at a party, and other play centres i have been to haven't needed payment for such a short time during pick up. This man, whose name i cannot get due to this woman screaming at me on the phone, yelling, saying i was a shoplifter because she had not been given the full story and in fact didn't know i had actually paid the $5, then hung up on me. The man stood waiting for me when we all left the party, to rudely again ask me for $5, he said he had "politely" asked me to pay already, i told him how rude he had been and he continued to argue with me and intimidate me, in front of other customers, i yelled back defending myself. My daughter was in fact holding the $5 in her hand as i did not want to speak to him again and handed it to him. All the mums i was with commented on how strange it was that he was watching and waiting on us like a security guard. In fact he was watching me. He was very intimidating and frightening. I rang to get his name so i can warn people about this man, the woman screamed at me then hung up, so i rang again to get his name, she then accused me of harassment. So i will never know his name, its a secret. Is it legal to lie about the CCTV footage? Saying it happened in response to a bad review, and it actually happening, are two very different things. Who would you believe? I still maintain my children love this place. Unfortunately they won't be going back, there are so many others with better service in the area. I even left my phone number with this woman, in the hopes she would call back and apologise, now I'm afraid she'll abuse me so i have blocked her number. Very unprofessional handling of the situation. I feel bullied.
My previous review:
The play area for the kids is great and the staff are ok. Everyone will know who i mean when i say 'the old guy who works there'. No one will tell me his name. Ive been a few times and everyone usually tolerates the man who exists to keep people in check. Today he was unforgivably rude to me about having done the wrong thing. He bailed me up and told me i was rude to him, and continued to chastise me in front of other customers. He is highly strung and doesn't seem to notice what the business is, a place for children to have fun. When i rang afterwards to find out his name, it wasn't given to me even though i have given them my name and number to make sure he is reprimanded for his intolerable behaviour. Sometimes you have bad days, this was different. This person should not be working around children.
