Always like a visit. Good pastries and brands that you have not seen in a while. Not cheap to be sure. You don't go there if you are after bargains but you go for what you need and it's great. Has a real 'old world's supermarket feel to it. Large and lots of options aside the brands you know

Great staff always friendly the carr some alternatives to majors but they are more expensive on most items and in today's economy it's a choice.

Procuitto is poor quality and pre cut.
Italian Parma was the driest I have ever bought.
You can even see the evidence of browning from the air drying of the meat in the photos; it tasted rancid!
It went into the bin; all $10+ worth I bought today; I would never serve gross deli meats like that to my guests or familia which was the plan.
Other locations in Le Max Group dont seem to have the same issues including customer service.
I was overcharged for my passata, however, the polite young man at the register was unable to assist me and had to wait for his supervisor. In the mean time whilst waiting I went and took a photo to make it easier to clear up the mistake. Again, this didn't facilitate a refund as he was unable to assist me and I had to wait. Needless to say, I left being overcharged by the store which is not the first time.
The staff are nice enough and polite but the management standards are woeful compared to other locations. Shortcuts like pre cutting all the deli meats and letting them go rancid means that previously loyal customers like myself will no longer buy from this store.
Very disappointing to be ripped off like I was today.

Great selection of good quality food and a large selection of vegetarian products.discovered my smoked eel and trout.cheese selection varied and superb, as is the Deli.happy to support this gem. Not the "run of the mill Coles or Woolworth " interesting stroll and purchases.

I never leave a bad review yet I feel this is warranted. I entered the MAXI premises in U FTG to purchase items for my Mum (who has stage 4 cancer btw) and I can honestly say I'm a kind person. I have even more empathy for staff as have worked in a supermarket before.
Well there were 2 available cashiers of which neither had customers so I entered.
When I did I looked at both faces of the staff members and neither was welcoming (I did not know where to place my basket and thought they may havebeen closed) and had to ask if I could come in. I received a snippy reply and looks from both that conveyed i was not welcome.
I was then asked about bags in a rude manner which I said I needed to purchase and admittedly needed to ask for. The lady (I recall her name yet won't reveal) was rude in her reply and gestures.
I let both go until I placed my mineral water bottles (held together by plastic with a handle. Yes a larger item.) and was rudely told she could not lift it (I'd placed it adjacent to the scanner - being little room. Well I had no trolley I could not leave it in and soon found out she did not know how to imput the item anyway so moot point.)
It just sat there whilst she complained and made
over-eggerated movements conveying her displeasure at the recalcitrant customer being me. (Perhaps this sounds embellished because of the way I've written it. It's not).
I felt all anxious that only a basket of items at a quiet register/s was so problematic.

I felt i had to solve the problem myself or meekly apologise for being a customer yet wondering can't she enter the details somehow? If i hadn't known 2 plus decades ago (I did and still recall even though we had to scan large items ourselves mostly.not great but we did it without complaint.) I would have personally apologised and asked for help as there was a lady next to her and the service desk was right next to it and was staffed and the floor was quiet too so available staff were present.
Instead she looked angry and made a big show of trying to type in the barcode.or something? !
Thing is, if she hadn't been so rude i would have happily moved the item or waited patiently for assistance had she asked.
I did become upset and left the items behind as I was made to feel i was putting her out when she was not even busy. I also likely came across rude myself as I told her to speak to the customer with respect as I was frustrated and rarely come across such service.
I understand people are tired, have a bad day and how it can be difficult to put on a friendly face. That is ok but please don't make normally patient and kind customers, with not that many items even, feel like that.
(Perhaps also teach staff what to do with larger items. This lady is aware not to lift certain items which is fantastic and more power to her as I am aware back pain etc is awful.
Just inform customers and learn what to do instead.
I'm sure she's a lovely lady most times and do not wish repercussions other than to
Please instill some sort of courtesy/manners as most people are understanding if demands are conveyed correctly to customer.

Good range of lines. Friendly staff.
You'll eventually bump into most people living in 'The Hills', at 'Maxi'.

Maxi Foods has a more interesting range of food than Coles or Woolworths. It's like a giant Deli:)

Supermarket. Good fresh food section.
Unfortunately fresh fruit, vege and protein is getting expensive whilst trashy fast food is constantly on sale.

Love this shop. Has everything, loads of different brands. Brands that you can't buy in Woolies and Coles. The meat is top class, no shoe leather sold here. Health food, herbs spices, great quality stuff. A little bit more expensive on some things than Coles and Woolies but the quality of the fruit and veg, and meat is superior. Fast check out with 3 or 4 staff on the fast lines and plenty of other tills open with friendly and helpful staff. I haven't been in Coles or Woolies for over a year since I started using this shop. I still use Aldi as well for some stuff which is cheaper than anywhere else, but my go to is definitely Maxi now.
